  2. Look at your Green Card. It has an expiration date, meaning it's valid until xx/xx/xx.

It's either 2 years from when you got it, or 10 years. Both cards look the same.

If you have a 10-year Green Card, nothing will happen to you if you get divorced. If you have a 2-year Green Card, you need to remove conditions via an I-751 application.

First find out what kind or Green Card you have: 2 year or 10 year, and let us know. We then can get more into detail on what you can do and perhaps should do.

yes i saw its 10 year card its until 2019 so is it ok???

any job website you know let me know so i could find one

  4. Hi. THis is me Laurie here. I am from Illinois. I wasn't too sure how to proceed my divorce of my Pakistani husband of 4 years of marriage. We have decided to be friends than being married to one another. My husband came here in usa on January 26, 2008. He got his residence card last summer (I think). I am thinking of doing my own divorce without lawyers that would save me money. I want to get my divorce within 90 days. What should I do next? We have no children. We will agree to part our household stuff. He doesn't want much from me. He would want to live here in USA rather than going back to Pakistan. I support his decision and I want us to be in a good terms. He already have 10 year green card since jan 2009.if we divorce he still able to apply citizen in 3 years

  5. Hi MaricruzyMarcos,

Congratulations on passing your interview and citizenship test recently!

Thanks for sharing your experience about such here on VJ!

Good luck with the oath ceremony coming up soon (do post about that as well) and applying for your fiance afterwards!

    Ant

Woo-hoo! I am so excited that I passed my citizenship test and that my oath ceremony will be August 10. I think the drive to Fresno was longer than my actual interview. LOL. After my oath ceremony I will be applying for my fiancés I-129f and then hopefully he will be here with his family by next year.

Here is what happened at the interview:

Got called in for test. Gave the officer my GC and CA ID. Then I read a sentence and wrote California has the most people. Passed both of those. Then the questions:

    1. What is an amendment?

    2. Who can veto bills?

    3. what is the supreme law of the land?

    4. who did the US fight in WWII?

    5. what is the capital of california?

    * I think there was a sixth, but I cannot remember right now. I was kinda nervous. I passed the questions too.

THen I went back to the waiting room and waited to be called for the interview.

I was called in by Officer Chance Chong.

He told me to swear under oath to tell the whole truth, I did. then the questions began. He asked me about my stepdad, who petitioned my sister and I along with my mom. He wanted to know where I was born, and I could tell he was giving me wrong answers to see if I was telling the truth about what I put on my N400. EX: "where were you born? Me: Mexico. Him: Tijuana, Mexico? Me: no, Michoacan, mexico. Him: Morelia then. Me: no, apatzingan." It was kinda intimidating and made feel uneasy, but I guess that is there job. Not to make you feel uneasy, but to see if you are telling the truth. Well, he then asked me if I was going to petition anyone, and I said, yeah, my fiancé. He then said I was approved and asked if I wanted my oath ceremony next month, that was the earliest date. I said, YEAH.

Called my love and told him the great news. Been excited ever since! JEJEJE. I can't contain myself with all this happiness. I texted everyone in my contacts the good news.

    congratulation

but answer all question here on VJ so if someone dont know answer he know it it will be help

    have a great life

  6. As long as you don't exceed 6 months of a visit abroad (at a time) you will be OK (there is also a limit on maximum days out in the 3 or 5 year period so as to not disrupt your LPR time accrual for citizenship). As far as tax returns - you must file a tax return (for this process) even if you have no income. This is just to establish that you filed a tax return - it has no bearing on that you 'earned' money on which you paid taxes and hence you are filing a tax return. Comprende? There is a list of things for citizenship (though it's not complicated) that you can look at with the N400 application and its instructions.

A question for you - do you have a ten year greencard or a two year greencard - if its 2 year card then you need to worry more about the 'removal of conditions' step first. Good Luck

    Hello thank for answer.
