  1. well you definatley lightened up my day, i was shaking and panicky when i realised my interview date was so near, this little thread added a much need bit of light hearted humour to my day whilst easing my worries about what i should wear on the day of my interview. Thank you

My issue is not with Pushbrk's expertise, he is a clever man, it is with being corrected on a frilolous point (the precise and proper use of formal and semi-formal attire or how I should not use the word "most".) One can add to the dialogue without microediting the previous poster. If I say, NVC is the National Visitors Center, yes, by all means correct me. But I don't need every word scrutinized for grammatical correctiveness.

So basically you are against people posting personal opinions? This place is not all about being serious. This forum also serves to take peoples minds off the wait and to have fun and enjoy life. Which I try to do but you seem to have a problem with. I mean, really, I have "never said anything helpful" to anyone? I guess all my received PMs from other members are lies.

I have never posted a fact? Interesting... And never anything usefull-!!! Oh, where is the love-!!! :crying:

You want hard core facts, go to a doctor, lawyer, or other professional. You want freely expressed personal opinions, come to an online public forum filled with lay people. Which is VJ?

    You made my case ;)

oh, and you can also find facts in the guides, uscis' website, travel.state.gov.... and LISTENING to others who speak from actual experience...specially when it comes from elder knowledgeable members

    Saludos,

    Caro

  2. Phew! I'm glad the cravats are optional

The London Embassy actually requires that the ladies wear a full evening gown, preferred colours are fushia pink or colbalt blue. Men are required to wear a top hat and tails with cravats optional. Don't try to hide your mobile phone in the top hat, security are pretty savvy when it comes to checking everywhere.

Seriously, it doesn't matter. IMO, don't turn up looking too scruffy, but I know the London embassy actually doesn't care. I wore jeans, boots and a sweatshirt. Dress according to the weather too as you might be waiting outside for a little while.

  3. haha yeah i didnt mean getting dressed in full dinner part attire, i just didnt know if they frowned down up on jeans and sneakers etc.

I got my interview date so quick by hassling the embassy every chance i got, i called a bunch of times then finally got through to a woman who told me to e-mail a certain code. I told them how i had planned to get married on the 10th of january, then when i got home from work today there was a message on the machine from the embassy telling me my date.

Ive been shaking pretty much since i heard, got a hell of alot to sort out now.

  4. I Had my medical on monday which all went pretty smoothly so my medical results should be at the embassy by friday.

I am still waiting for my interview date. My Packet 3 was recieved at the US embassy on 7th December and still nothing. Im Hoping to recieve a date real soon, and hopefully one that isnt too far away.

This whole process keeps getting more and more frustratiing. Going to my medical made me feel like the process was moving fast and i was nearly there. Now it feels like its at a complete Stop and i dont have any idea of when i will recieve my interview date and when that will be.

  5. good luck with getting the interview soon and glad to see you sent off packet 3. I sent off my packet 3 on the 15th of November and still have no date for my interview. All I can do now is wait its driving me crazy. I was dead set on getting to the states by Christmas but its looking more and more unlikely by the day. I have already had to miss one flight to the US but oh well its a small price to pay to be with the one you love.

I think you should call them if you havent recieved a date yet. From what i can gather from most timelines and information ive dragged out of the visa helpline they usually process packet 3 and give you a interview in 2-4 weeks of them receiving it.

Im hoping to recieve an interview date real soon. I put on my packet 3 that my wedding was on the 10th of january and i was hoping to leave the 29th december hoping it might help me out a little bit, as i have heard the London embassy are good at getting you an interview date quickly if you have plans already. But im not sure how much that has helped.

I called the Embassy today and they still havent processed my packet 3 as of yet so il give it until monday and try again. Then i guess give it a break for a few days over christmas and hope they get on their ball after that. Im really hoping to get there within the first weeks of january but again i dont know how realisitc thats gonna be.

    Il just hope!

this part of the process seems to be the hardest, you feel so close yet so far. It could be just around the corner or it could be a few more months. I hope for the first of them too.

    Good luck everyone else

  6. anyone got any idea how long its taking to get an interview at the US consular in London from packet 3 being sent?

NVC suck, we called and changed my address on system while it was still there, ive been sitting patiently waiting for packet 3, tonight i called the London embassy and they told me it had been sent on the 26th to my old address. I have requested my packet 3 be sent out again and changed my address which they said would take 3 days or so to process, but im trying my best to get it from my old place though the girl that lives there now is abit of an airhead and wasnt being too helpful and didnt know where it was.

so yeah, im kind of freaking out everyday counts, i was hoping to be there before christmas but i know thats isnt going to happen. I just want to get it sent off ASAP i already have my medical booked so its just the interview.

  7. I spoke to a guy at the london embassy yesterday and he said it should take around 4 weeks for them to recieve our petition, my fiancee talked to the USCIS as we need to change a address on the petition and they said it had left for the NVC and we should expect them to have it in a week or two, but it would be hard to catch it there to change the address. So i think we are gonna try calling every few days to see if we can catch it there, i dont want changing the address at london to slow down the process at all.

What do i need for packets 3 and 4? i have the forms DS-156 and DS-157 filled out, plus the I-i34, i know i need to take a medical examine, and get a police background check, can i apply for them now? or is it best to wait?

As everyone else in our situation must feel right now, we feel so close yet so far, this bit seems to be the most painful.

good luck us, and everyone else

Apply for the police cert immediately!!!!!! It takes up to 40 days to receive it, so you don't want that slowing you down. For London, the police cert is good for 12 months. So, if you get packet 3 before you have the police cert, still check t off on the checklist that the item is complete. I would be shocked if your interview was scheduled before you receive it.

oh shoot, ok didnt realise that would take so long, though that seems to be happening with most steps of this visa, i shall go to the police station tomorrow, thats what i need to do right? dont want to sound like an idiot

  9. Its been a 122 and we still havent got our NOA2, the estimate on the visa journey timeline says we should be get it around the 13th october though seems to keep going up daily. I called the USCIS yesterday and they told me that my petition is on the shelf, but could be anywhere from a couple of days to 2-3 months. Could this be true? will i really have to another 2-3 months or is it just protocol they tell everyone?

What have other peoples experiencing when they call?

    I want our NOA2 already
