She will be asked her immigration status, and she can tell them that she does not qualify for jury duty for she is not a US citizen. She may be questioned about her status as well, although civil courts have no jurisdictin over immigration. Hopefully she lives in a state that understands how the US Constitution works, and not in Arizona...
this is inhuman!!! she has been working here and paid taxes for a decade. does she deserves to be deported because of a jury duty mistake?
dont make me scream!
what can i do to help her?

Your girlfriend has two separate issues here: her status is in limbo/illegal, and she has been asked to sit on a jury.
One: From the description you've given, your girlfriend has no legal status in the US. She is not a green card holder, is she? If that's the case, your first stop needs to be a competent immigration lawyer who can start disentangling her status. This is actually the wrong forum; I assume she needs to establish her permanent residency first.
Two: Only US citizens can sit on a jury. If she is not a USC, then she cannot participate in the process and attempting to do so is a very good way to raise red flags with USCIS. Under no circumstances should she be a juror, though she will probably have to explain her current status. I assume they will.
hi autumnal,
she dont have a green card yet. why would they send a letter to a non us?? if she explains her status, what is likely to happen?
this is a jury matter not an immigration matter correct?

Hi,
My girlfriend has a visa expired for about 7 years; she come here with working visa as caregiver and overstayed.
She ignored twice a letter from jury to appear in jury. She listened to the worng advice and ignored two letters.
:
Now she received a letter from Queens Ny Court "juror subpoena failure to respond"; the letter has instructions to
appear in Court and has questions on it such has:
- are you a US citizen?
- do you have a visa/green card?
now she is concerened what happens if she goes to court: will she be asked her immigration status?
I really appreciate your help and advice.

hi
i just become a us citizen, on jan 08 id like to travel out of country,
can i show to immigration a copy of my naturalization certificate whem i re enter?
will that work?
or do i absolutely need a passport (or do i need to apply for passport card?)
thank u so much
-
hi,
hen
i took the oath today, it was great; 220 people in a Brooklyn court, we waited for all the people to come in, first you give in your green card, then
they made us sign the naturalization certificate after double checking birth date and name, then you swear then, you give in your app. letter
and collect the certificate;
do you know a cheap way to apply for passport? i know there are several agencies but id like to have advice on the cheapest way
as i dont have urgency
thank you

Hello All,
Two days ago online the online tag moved into "oath ceremony"; two days later on the mail i received the letter to attent the Oath;
I have a small disorderly conduct conviction so I was not sure if I was going to pass or not but I DID !
I want to thank Lord and the US soil and the founders of Visajourney.com for all the support.
Thank you!
One final question though: why is the Oath Scheduled to a Courthouse? ;-)

Hi ,
About one week ago the online case status changed into the below notice: as of today I have not received any letter;
what the National Visa Center does? they send the letter out? why taking so long?
if i was denied (i ve a small disorderly conduct conviction in my records) shouldnt I already have received a denial?
thanks
On October xx, 2011, the supervisor review of your case was completed. We will mail you a notice once a final decision has been made. Please wait to receive the notice before you contact USCIS.
For approved applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include USCIS sending notification of the approved application/petition to the National Visa Center or the Department of State. For denied applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include the processing of an appeal and/or motions to reopen or reconsider and revocations.

That's great! Yeah, just be calm and hang in there.
I visited UNITN while I was in Trento. Did you study there?
yes, i graduated at Trento - Facolta di Economia back in 2000; what attracted you about Trento, is not very popular

Hi gigant,
I read your posts in the other immigration forum and I am also from NYC area. I think you should be fine.
Just hang in there and stay positive. This should certainly be a Happy Christmas for you.
I have been to Venice and Trento (as a tourist). Is that NW Italy?
hey notbonjovi,
thank you for your support, yes that is nw Italy, Trento is where i spent 4 years in College and Venice is 40 min away from where i grew up,
;-)

It all depends on how helpful the tier 2 officer is! Some of them read the exact information as the first tier, others are more helpful and will go out of their way to help you!
You can always call again and talk to a different officer!
Out of curiosity, how long was it under review?
it was under supervision for 26 days

hi all,
I noticed today this message on the online status:
""On October 26, 2011, the supervisor review of your case was completed. We will mail you a notice once a final decision has been made. Please wait to receive the notice before you contact USCIS. ""
Does anyone has received this message?
I spoke with a level b officer last week and she looked at the file and she said "it looks like all is fine"
then i told her that my case was reviewd by supervisor because ive a record of disorderly conduct; she responded " i dont see it in my system, that means it doesn't count"'
and added "before Christmas you will receive a gift"
i still dont trust anyone: Does level 2 officers have a online system that level 1 officers dont see?
thank you all

But you were not denied right.I had my citizenship interview and they told me the same thing a decision cannot be made.three days later they sent me a letter saying I had been approved.
I hope it works out the same for you.
hey keyshawn, was your case a straight one? why they did not approve you the same day?
-
Hi
A decision could not be made at my interview as i have a disorderly conduct record
So the io said a supervisor has to look at it
I noticed at the bottom of the n652 the io wrote with red ink "not for waiting" does anyone knows what that means?
-
I am sorry, I dont understand what is the crime you committed? What was the outcome of the arrest and the case. After pleading guilty, did you try to get your conviction vacated or annulled? I beleive you can go to jugde and have judge vacate the conviction.
i was charged with patronizing a prost.xxx; i was offered a deal to pled guilty of disorderly conduct and i accepted;
no probation. i just paid a fine
i didnt try to get my conviction vacated, i dont think i can

When's your 3rd year anniversary of being an LPR? If your interview was conducted prior to the 3rd year, then a decision cannot be made until that day is passed then they can approve you.
Or 5th year depending on how you applied.
I applied based on 5 years rule

Why did you cry?
I dont know Katiemanny why I cried.
I guess i felt sorry for my record. I really cared about becoming a citizen.

Federal plaza nyc. today
When the io Cambell welcomed me i knew it would have been a tough one for me
I was prepared and ready with certified court disposition of my arrest in 2009 for patronizing and led guilty to misdemanor
Mr campbell , a tall african american io, went through the whole app including trips counts date stamps in passport and travel dates.
Then he repeated all questions in n400 and at the question "have u ever been arrested" i saud yes and i went into emotions and cried a bit
As he cntinued asking me qyestions i was still emotional and he offered me tissue and a bowaterof water
Passed with "aa" all tests and handed me a letter " decision cant be made" and said a supervisor had to look at it.
Does anyine knows mr campbell? How many chances ive to pass?
I gave him the original certified copy of court disposit so if i want to reapply how do i get a copu back?
Thanks

No he brought her to the US legally she came in on a tourist visa. They were given information that this was OK to do even though it was not and it back fired on them. That is NOT terrorism and they were married AND!!!!!!!! she did not enter illegally.
can anyone pls kindly forward the link regarding this German lady?
Thank you so much
-
. . . and if you travel between the interview and the Oath Ceremony, you submit this information with the N-445 you will surrender with your Green Card.
thank you bob
-
No, when you go to your interview, the IO will ask you about any changes that need to be noted on your n-400 (such as travel, citations, etc...). Provide the dates and make sure you have your passport with you - he/she might want to verify travel dates by looking for the exit/entry stamps.
That's it!
thanks v333k

no that is not enough.
there are millions of illegal immigrants that did not even have a visa when they entered and never paid a dime in
taxes.
She had a visa when she entered. deportation must be enforced by an immigration judge, not a civil court.
but whatever...thank you for your feedback! i just wanted to get a feeling on how nad was the situation.
a Counseler today said, the jury court could not care less of her immigration status and will not bother.
i hope she will be fine
