Hi everyone,
I filed all my K1 visa paper work after my arrival in USA in May 2021.
I had my biometrics appmt in Nov 2021.
Today, I received Approval Notices for I-765 (App for Employment Authorization) and I-131 (App for Travel Document)!
Thankfully both are valid for 2 years.
Once I receive a EDA card, does this mean I can work for any employers in USA while waiting for my green card?
If yes, I wanted to ask you if anyone was at a disadvantage with a EDA card vs. green card/ American citizen as a potential candidate for a job.
Your input will be much appreciated!

I am a July 2020 flier (San Francisco, CA). It took over a year (8/21/21) to get my Biometrics appointment. I just had my case status update (8/25/21) to “Ready To Be Scheduled For An Interview” yesterday. Who knows when that will be…
Waiting over a year to get a Biometrics appmnt is not easy. I hope your interview date is soon and you are close to the end!

thank you for sharing your experience! I wonder if the timeline is different for different states. Which state are you in?
I am in Washington State.

Hi everyone,
I am wondering how the COVID situation is impacting the usual processing time of I-485, I-131, and I-765.
I submitted my applications in May, but I-485 was missing a document, which they received early August, and working on this application now (based on the status checked on the USCIS website).
Has anyone been contacted for a biometrics appointment yet during this COVID-time? If yes, what was your wait time like since you sent in your paper works?
Thank you in advance and hoping for everyone in the same boat to go through a smooth process!

I strongly recommend getting the SSN right after POE, before marriage.
Thank you for the detailed reply!
Quick Q: Is it a good idea to submit I-131 Application for Travel Document, along with I-485, I-864 & I-765, even when I don't have a trip planned?
I know that there is no fee for I-131 if filed with I-485 after July 30, 2007.
Thank you in advance for your input!

Re: 1-765 Application for Employment Authorization for a K1 visa holder
This topic might have been covered some where here, but starting a new post here to keep it simple.
I read that for K1 status, when you apply for I-765 and receive EAD, you are only authorized to work under this category during your 90 days in K-1 or K-2 status. You cannot renew this EAD.
I believe it means we cannot work after 90 days with EAD and need to receive a Green card (permanent resident status) to be able to work in USA?
Thank you in advance for your helpful input on this!
from p.15 of 31 from Instructions for Form I-765 (https://www.uscis.gov/i-765)
"Family-Based Nonimmigrant Categories 1. K-1 Nonimmigrant Fiancé(e) of U.S. Citizen or K-2 Dependent--(a)(6). File Form I-765 along with evidence of your admission (for example, copies of your Form I-94, passport, or other travel document) and your K visa. You are only authorized to work under this category during your 90 days in K-1 or K-2 status. You cannot renew this EAD. If you submit subsequent EAD applications, other than for replacement of a lost, stolen, or damaged card or a card that contains incorrect data, you must apply on a different basis. If you have a pending application for adjustment of status, you should file under category (c)(9)."
