  1. Hi there, I have filed my I-751 application on March 8, 2009, on April 1, 2009 i had biometrics taken and since then I haven't heard anything from the USCIS. My 2-year GC is about to expire on June 5, 2009 and I dont know what to do???? My drivers license will expire, what about work???? How do I go on????

I contacted the USCIS office and they sent a letter saying that the case is still pending and if I don't hear anything for the next 6 months, call them back. But what about the expired GC by then????? Can anybody advise what to do? I'd appreciate it!

Do you have NOA1? It says that your green card is extended for 12 months, you are authorized to work and travel. If you didn't receive NOA1, make an infopass and get a stamp in your passport, this stamp will extend your greencard.

    Hi tessoro24,

First of all :time: by clicking on My Assistant > Add/Edit My timeline and also put your info in the signature (like when you did you send the package, when did you get the biometric appointment letter and when did you do the appointment and LUD last update date on your case etc).

I know how you feel. It seems to me that you did get biometric appointment letter but not NOA.

I agree with what '04-09 filler' said, If you didn't get NOA1 (Notice of Action, confirmation of case received and extension of work and stay for 1 year) then make an infopass appoint for your nearest USCIS field office.

    https://infopass.uscis.gov/info_en.php

Will tell you the field based on your location.

On the 1st page choose "You need Service on a case that has already been filed " and then on the next page choose "If it has been over 45 days since you contacted NCSC and have not received a response to your inquiry. You must bring the Service Request ID Number related to your inquiry to the appointment."

Go to Info pass appointment before appointment time (10-30 mins) and ask the IO (Immigration Officer) that you applied for I-751 and didn't get NOA and would like I-551 stamp on your passport.

Since you didn't get the NOA they will easily give you a stamp on your passport which will extend your work and stay for 1 year (which is 1 year added to the date your GC expires e.g GC expires 05-01-009 will be extended to 05-01-10)

NOA and I-551 stamp are the same thing which are equivalent to having a temporary GC till you get 10 year GC. So If you unrestricted SSN and state Id should be fine otherwise. If your employer knows that your GC will expire show them the stamp I-551.

While I-751 you can work, travel and stay just like before.

Regarding work, read the following it answer all questions.

Made an infopass appointment for June 2, 2009 and received the stamp I-551 in my passport!

No, I don't have NOA1. I thought about calling USCIS back and ask them what to do after expiration of 2-year GC???

  5. Our interview was scheduled for 1:15pm, we were there around 12:15pm and get into the building around 12:30pm, wait in the room for about 55 min and got called in at 1:25pm.

After we went into a small office, the officer asked us to be sworned in. And then the interview began:

the questions to my wife(she is the US citizen):

    - when did you meet the first time? where?

    - When did you start date?

    - When did you get married, where?

    - what is your current address?

    - Did you buy your house before you get married?

    - Do you bring the original marriage certificate and the birth certificate

    the questions to me:

    - show me your passport

    - the yes/no questions from the I-485 application form.

    - Do you have the origianl docs, such as, joint account, insurence, utility bill, mortgage...

(give the officer the original and copy, she kept the copy).

The officer then asked for the photos and asked about the people in the photos, I gave her more details about some pictures. The officer kept 2 pictures.

At the end of the interview, the officer said she is fine with my case but since the security check still in process, I have to wait until that get cleared. I didn't get any stamp on my passport.

The whole interview only last about 15 min and it is painless. I am a little bit nervous since I didn't get approval like other people did.

I got the I-130 case approved this morning but no touch for my I-485 case.

Does anyone have a similiar situation like this before? thanks.

The same situation happened to me, i just got a "verbal" approval at the end of the interview and thats it. Afterwards, I received the I-130 approval but since my interview 3 months ago I havent heard anything about the greencard issue at all....

  6. Missouri transfers the files prior to your interview so that the staff there can go through your paperwork when you're there at your interview. Your paperwork is in Atlanta. Regardless, make an infopass appointment. While you were given verbal approval at your interview, you did not receive any other updates (e.g. card production ordered or welcome letter).

Onother problem that will arise out of not having my greencard is that I will have to apply for my extension of working permit, because it states in the documents that it has to be applyed 6 months before expiration.

  7. As for calling USCIS and their reference to your case being transferred, it was transferred to your district office when you had your interview. Files should still be there.

Definitely make an Infopass appointment to find out what is going on.

The district office is in atlanta and that is also, where we went for the interview. But all the documents always coming from missouri...

  8. Hi, I have went to my final interview in the beginning of June 2007 for adjustment of status and permanent residency. They have approved it and told us the green card should come with mail in about a month. It is almost 3 monts now and I have not received anything yet. I have called USCIS 3 times and everytime I call people tell me different things, but basically they said, they dont have any information, because the case is not with them anymore it has been forwarded (didnt say where?) and told me that an immigration officer will write me a letter which should take about 45 to 60 days!!!! I am desprate right now, because nobody can tell me anything about the greencard. I dont want to wait that long, not knowing anything? Did somebody had a similar case or can help me with this? Thanks
