  1. Hi! I just wanted some clarification. It is possible to send both K1 or CR1 visas to third countries since the Moscow embassy will be closing? And to do so, you have to contact these third countries' embassies and get written approval from them that you can send your request to them? Or what other steps need to happen for the transfer to occur.

I'm also worried that these requests going to Moscow and then having to be transferred will get backlogged since it will be operating with such a small staff. Will they bypass Moscow completely?

Sorry for all the questions! I've tried cross-referencing multiple pages and forums. I'm hoping someone has found better answers than I have!

I'm so sorry for everyone having to deal with the headache!

I imagine it’ll be something similar to, for example, Venezuela or Cuba. Those are processed at Colombia and Guyana respectively.  Poland is accepting spousal applicants from Russia. So is Kazakhstan. However, the issue is COVID related travel restrictions and reduced consular processing.

Hi! Could you attach the links you found about Poland and Kazakhstan processing spousal applications? I tried searching myself with no luck. Thanks so much!

  3. Hi everyone!

I'm finding conflicting information regarding proving your financial ability to sponsor your fiance. Sometimes I see that tax returns are required and sometimes, I see that it isn't. Could someone clarify this for me? The reason I'm concerned is that for the last 5 years I lived abroad so my tax returns in the US were listed as 0. I'm currently working in the US and making well over the 125% requirement. I'm hoping a letter from my company and check stubs would suffice for the sponsorship? Thanks for any help and clarification!

From official USCIS instructions regarding form I-129F:

"You are filing this petition on behalf of your fiancé(e), you have previously had a Form I-129F approved, and less than two years have passed since the filing date of your previously approved petition."

Thank you! This may be a silly question, but do you know if there is a way to see the exact filing date?

I want to add that even if you are pass the 2-year multiple filer timeline, you and your fiance may still get questioned about your past fiance.

That's what I was thinking too!

  5. Hi there!

I applied for a K1 visa in September of 2019 and it was approved in December of 2019. However, during the pandemic we broke up. I'm wanting to file a different K1 visa with another person later this year but I'm wondering when the 2 year rule comes into effect. Is it starting from September when I filed? Or does it count from December when it was approved? Thanks so much for your help!
