  1. My husband took one week off after I arrived on the US. I used that time to get adjusted a little, but also to do things like buy a car so that I would be able to get around after he went back to work. I thought a week was fine. It also forced me not to depend on him too much, which I'm happy about because I'm an independent person. :)

  2. I got an American Express Clear card with a $1000 limit literally right after I arrived in the US. I had no credit history whatsoever. Now, 3 years later, I still have it. They have significantly raised my credit limit by now, which is good :) And even though you can't use American Express everywhere, I still like it and it definitely helps me build credit

  3. Well the RFE tells you what evidence they are requesting, so that should answer what they're looking for and why.

Not always. We got an RFE and it didn't specify what it was for or which documents were missing. My husband called and they weren't able to tell him either. He was just told that sometimes RFE's are sent out to random people and that affidavits are "very important". That's strange becase affidavits are not a requirement. I'm just telling this because apparently they CAN send out an RFE for something that's not a requirement. This does seem to be tax related although tax returns are not a requirement either. It can be so confusing...

  4. There have been numerous discussions regarding listing children, all with various interpretations of this question. wacko.gif I (the green card holder) listed only my biological children and did not include my husband's (the USC) son from a previous marriage.

    Good luck!

That's what I did. Actually, it never even occurred to me to do it any other way because after all, what does my stepson have to do with my I-751?? Well, it worked that way. I got my greencard. :star:

  5. Hi everyone,

It has been almost a month since USCIS received my I-751. I got NOA-1 a couple of days later after sending out the application. However, I cannot check my status online. Every time I tried putting in the receipt number it tells me my case cannot be found. How soon should my case appear online after filing?

    Thanks for your help.

Mine never showed up, even after I got my NOA. Whenever I checked online, it always said my case cannot be found. I did call to make sure they were still working on it, but it never showed up. I just had to wait for the letters in the mail. My case is approved now.

  6. I think anything with beneficiary information is major. We didn't send that the first time around and got an RFE too. Also, if you are the policyholder for your health insurance and your husband incurred medical expenses, you can make copies of the explanation of benefits showing that he filed medical claims under your insurance. Just a suggestion, we added those too. Good luck!

  7. We didn't send the affidavits because they are not required and we felt confident that we had enough evidence. We sent in a big pile of paperwork. Still, we got an RFE in March. So this time around, we did send two affidavits along with an even bigger pile of paperwork. We haven't heard the outcome yet, but are hoping for some positive news soon...

  8. Hi!! Congrats on the approvals!!!

This is disgusting, I see people with RFE who sent WAY more evidence than we did... it's simply unfair!! Hang in there, RFE people!!

    Good luck :star:

    Hanging in there... ;)

Actually, when my husband called regarding our RFE (there were no clear instructions as to what it was for), he was told that a lot of times RFEs are sent out to random people. So it really isn't fair. Unfortuntely, there's not much anyone can do about it. Hopefully I'll get some positive news soon. I haven't been able to access my case online wince we got the RFE so I'm waiting for the letter.

  9. Hi,it is almost time for me to file for ROC. I am supposed to file it on Mid June this year but I want to start to gather the evidence now and ask for your advise. Your advise is greatly appreciated and it is open to all who have been through this stage or are about to send it too like myself.

Here are some evidence that I already have and plan to get one soon:

    1. Apartment lease
    2. Tax return transcript 2009 and 2010
    3. Joint checking account statement and copies of our cards
    4. Joint credit card statement and copies of our cards
    5. Military ID showing my husband as the sponsor
    6. TRICARE (health insurance) documents, such as the enrollment form, the certificate of creditable coverage. In which all of the documents showing information about my husband as the sponsor and me as his spouse also our address.
    7. Power of Attorney from him when he was deployed, giving me the right to enroll in DEERS (Defense Enrollment Eligibility System)so that I could get my military ID card and eligible for Healthcare insurance by TRICARE
    8. My husband's Post 9/11 GI Bill application which shows my name as the emergency contact and our relationship as spouse and our same address
    9. My husband's school application which shows my name as spouse and emergency contact
    10. Itinerary and plane ticket to Montana together in 2010 to visit his parents
    11. Photos that has our pictures together and family
    12. Affidavits from 2 people who have known us
    13. Miscellaneous copies of documents from Department of Defense showing our names and relationship and address
    14. Copies of letters and cards to our address

I think that is all I can think of and I am planning to submit. I do not have driver's license cause I can't drive so there is no car insurance or title either, and no child's birth certificate, cause our first child is due this October :)So, what do you guys think? I really appreciate your suggestions.

Yep, looks pretty good to me too. Some suggestions would be utility bills/loan documents in both your names. If you filed any medical claims under your husband's insurance, you can add the explanation of benefits for those. Also anything your husband has, showing you as the beneficiary (such as 401k, life insurance) and vice versa. That's all I can think of right now. Good luck!!

  10. Hi Stardust,

How did you send your RFE evidence - regular mail, priority, or express? I am not sure if priority or express mail works for RFE replies.

Did you send the evidence in envelope sent by them or did you just put it in your envelope?

Hope you get a quick approval.

We sent it USPS priority mail. Since we sent a big pile of paperwork, the tiny return envelope was way too small . We used a USPS envelope, but made sure we copied the address exactly as it was on the return envelope.

  11. Well, it took us a while to get all of our additional proof together after we received an RFE on 03/05. We had to call some places and wait for some stuff to be sent in the mail. But we finally mailed out a big pile of paperwork last Saturday 04/02. I just checked the USPS website and it says it was delivered and signed for today. Hopefully it won't take them too long to review our additional evidence.
