  1. My fiance Henry text messaged me this morning.

YES "VISA". I love you, mine perfect super wife, BIG love story BABY-WENDY-HENRY :-) :-D:-D <3

His visa interview was scheduled for Thursday March 13, 2008 at 1:00 pm. He was early to the Embassy. He spoke first with an older woman and then with a man. He said he did not understand the woman and that she was not a good communicator. He then spoke with a man who he said was really good. The man spoke Polish to him and then he answered back in English. After the interview was all over he was waiting for his name to be called to collect his visa. They instructed him to return the next day. He was unsure if that meant everything was ok or if there was a problem. He wasn't too crazy about leaving the Embassy with his passport behind. He returned the next day and waited for a while...over an hour and then they gave him his envelope and visa. He is so super excited. Count down to his arrival - 19 days.

In Ireland we had a ceremony with our friends and family present. When Henry arrives here in Denver on April the 2nd we will go out to dinner. April the 3rd 8 am we will go to the Denver City Hall and give them $10 and show our two passports and then sign out marriage license. Then we will be done with that part and file our Adjustment papers. After that lovely civil signing of our marriage documents we will go to the hospital for my ultrasound. I will be 22 weeks pregnant upon his arrival. "Honeymoon baby!" What a way to get to know the U S A!

This will be the first time that Henry has ever been to the USA. I am thrilled that we will be able to begin our lives together.

Thanks VJ for support and tons of information!

  2. My fiance has his interview at the Dublin Consulate on Thursday March 13th at 1 pm. He is nervous. He said he didn't sleep much last night. He text messaged me (sms) to say he was jumpy and nervous and that he would be finished being nervous and jumpy at 2 pm on the 13th. Poor guy. I am in Denver and I know that may couples have gone through the interview process. Some are able to be there at the same time for the interview and others have to go it alone. Henry will have to go it alone. I just encourage him that everything will be fine. He has lots of documents and papers that are all in order. He has good photos that will help him tell our love story. His english is lacking and I know that he is concerned about understanding what is asked of him. He will do fine I keep telling him. I hope to post on Thursday afternoon a visa approval...until then I'll remain positive and encourage him. In Czech I think the saying is crossing thumbs instead of fingers but in any case language I'll keep something crossed. Good luck Henry on your interview.

  3. My fiance ordered his Irish Police Certificate on Friday February 15th. He submitted his request form...I spoke to the Guarda lady on my fiance's cell phone and she understood what we were asking for. He gave a postage paid envelope with his request form and today Tuesday February 19th he received his report in the post! Yippee we are almost finished gathering everything for the interview.

  4. Police Certificates: Each Applicant aged 16 years or over is required to submit a police certificate from the police authorities of each locality of the country of the applicant's nationality or current residence where the applicant has resided for at least six months since attaining the age of 16. Police certificates are also required from all other countries where the applicant has resided for at least one year. A police certificate must also be obtained fro the police authorities of any place where the applicant has been arrested for any reason, regardless of length of residence. Police certificates from certain countries are considered unobtainable.

Henry went to Guarda in Navan County Meath to request his certificate yesterday. He had attempted prior but due to his language barrier and the Guarda not understanding what he was asking for it was a frustrating experience for him but he was able to get the application sheet. Yesterday he called me from his cell and I spoke to the Guarda counter person. I told her that he was my fiance and we are applying for a non immigrant K-1 Fiance visa to the USA. He needed a police certificate/criminal background check. She said but he isn't Irish. Yes please look at the paper that he has with him and about middle of the way on the paper it states Police Certificates from every place that he has lived for at least 6 months. He has lived in Navan County Meath since 2006. She clarified where he was immigrating to and that he really needed this. Henry gave her his completed form and a self address stamped envelope and he was finished.

I have no idea how long it will take them to do his report. I'm glad they didn't send him off to Dublin or some other location. There was no charge for this certificate.

Henry had already ordered his Czech Police Certificate prior to the receipt of Packet 3 from the Czech Embassy in Dublin. His report was completed in less than 1 month. It will be ready from the translator on Monday.

I'd be happy to share any other information on the Packet or the Irish experience.

  5. "Good morning Wendy. Today, USA Ambassy post paper for me. Maximum work, inside 13 big paper. I Love you, mine perfect super wife, love story Wendy-Henry. :-) <3"

That was the text message that I received on February 13, 2008 at 5:08 am from Henry my 'fiance' who is Czech and currently residing in Ireland.

Embassy of the United States of America: Dublin, Ireland

Visa Instructions for Fiance Nonimmigrant Visa Applicants

    2nd: http://dublin.usembassy.gov DS-156 two copies

3rd: Obtain the following: Passport, Birth Certificate, Police Certificates, Court and Prison Records, Military Records, Photographs (2, 2x2), Marriage Certificates, Evidence of Support I-134, Medical Examination, Evidence of Relationship, Translations.

4th: Sign and return checklist to office

Now we are off and running to complete the check list. Hopefully it won't be to much longer.

  6. I called NVC on January 24, 2008 2 weeks after I had received my approval letter from USCIS. The letter from USCIS indicated 2-4 weeks NVC to get the information. I called NVC and they answered promptly. They stated they did not yet have any information on my case and to give it the full month and then call back again. Thursday January 31, 2008 I checked the mailbox and there was an envelope from United States Department of State National Visa Center. This was the NVC approval and the letter indicates that our case will be processed at the Dublin post:

Embassy of the United States, Visa Unit

    42 Elgin Road

    Ballsbridge, Dublin

    Ireland

Now we wait for Dublin to send the packet to my fiance. I'm on the downhill slop to getting him here to the USA but I don't know how steep the hill is...could he get his packet in less than one month's time? He requested his police background from the Czech Republic which should be to him middle to end of February. I can't imagine it will take long to schedule the medical exam. The State Department website indicates 2 day wait from the call to schedule to the interview date. They also say that you surrender your passport and then they make your visa and send it to you overnight post. All of that sounds fast to me in comparrison to 167 days for USCIS to review and approve.

I hope others are moving along in their process of getting their loved one (s) here to the USA.

  7. January 7, 2008 I decided was my day to call the customer service number. I have faithfully checked the website to see if there was any activity. After waiting from August until after Christmas and New Years I was ready to make the call. I was on hold for about 25 minutes. A very friendly person came on the line. She asked questions about the nature of my call. When it got down to it she was only able to tell me what I could see for myself online. Needless to say I sighed and thought that didn't really get me anywhere. However as I continued to faithfully check the website my case was touched on Thursday January 10 and again on January 11. Over the weekend I had hope that we were getting somewhere. I checked today online and no activity. I was bummed. I checked my mail and there it was my I-797 NOA2 Approval! The website doesn't show my case as approved but I'm holding on to hard copy that states approval and transition to NVC. I'm super excited.

Here's the question - for the approval time frame 1/10/08 to 5/9/08 how realistic is it to believe that my fiance will actually be on a plane by 5/9/08?

  8. My Czech fiancé’s name is Jindrich Goc. If I were Czech then my last name would be Gocova. Are there any American ladies out there that have taken the feminine version of the male's last name? I could be Wenona Goc or Wenona Gocova. Then when we have children the boys would have the last name of Goc and the girls would have the last name of Gocova. Any comments or thoughts out there? Thanks.
