A couple of questions/comments.  You mentioned the interview set for April 11, are you certain your oath ceremony will be same day or soon after?  According to the passport website, the expedite option is 5-7 weeks, so it will be very tight even if you have a same day oath.  The passport options are a little disjointed as it says you can only schedule an appointment if your trip is within 5 days, but expedite is 5-7 weeks, so anyone traveling in the next 6-49 days and needing to get a passport don't seem to be covered.  Honestly, I would work very hard to get an appointment at the passport agency nearest to you after your oath ceremony and try and get an appointment.

    Good Luck!

Thank you much for chiming in!

yes, I expect to receive the cert on the same day of the interview. I have been told that the passport agency will try to issue the passport within a week for urgent travels - my problem is I don't have an urgent travel in April (at least can't do one given the current circumstances).

  2. Hi All,

We have planned for an international trip to India this summer to see our family elder, who is celebrating his 94 birthday (missed seeing them for 3 long years due to covid!!). It has to be summer because of kids summer break.

    Naturalization interview - 4/11

    Travel to India - 6/16

After the naturalization, entering my origin country is super complicated. The process so complicated that it could take 2 to 3 months to get origin country entry permit/visa after I receive the US passport. But I can't quote this reason to expedite our passports. Our plan to get the passport within a week after the naturalization to start the India visa/permit process - if we are lucky we will get the India permit/visa done just right before the 6/16 travel. We are also in the middle of a move, so don't have time to make a short international trip (like vacay to Mexico) in the spring break to expedite passport

I would really appreciate any suggestions / what worked for you in the recent past to expedite the passport. Thank you so much!!

    Hello everyone,

I filed N400 online on October 1st 2020 and got Biometric on August 10 2021, then my status changed to "Case is being actively reviewed by USCIS" with estimated time 12 months. I started seeing others filed later than me got the interview scheduled which make me feel extremely bad. Is there anything wrong with my case?

Hi, When did the case status changed to "Case is being actively reviewed by USCIS"

the estimate of 12 months is very normal when it is close to getting interview notice.

My interview has finally been scheduled for March 9th!!!!! I filed online on Oct 10th, 2020 -- it will have been 15 months by the time I get to the interview. Whew!

I filed under the 3-year marriage to US citizen rule, but the interview letter doesn't say anything about my spouse having to attend the interview with me. Does my spouse need to attend the interview with me? I tried searching online but couldn't find a definitive answer. Some people say spouses should come just in case, but others have said spouses aren't even allowed to come inside the building due to COVID protocols.

It sounds like to they would take your green card at the interview. I have a plan to travel internationally on April 21st, and even the expedited option still takes 5-7 weeks for the passport to arrive. 4/21 is 6 weeks away from 3/9 -- right within the range but that's cutting a little too close.

If the US passport doesn't arrive in time, will they give me any additional documentation after the interview that would allow me to enter the US with my old passport?

Or should I just wait until 5 days before my trip and apply in-person at the Passport agency downtown for "emergency" travel?

    that's awesome! happy for you!!

I am assuming you are asking about the timeframe listed on your online application portal - from everything I've seen on forums and reddit, this datapoint is useless. It is not a reflection of your individual case timeline. It merely uses USCIS averages on processing times for cases submitted in the same month as yours. What's most likely going to happen at 0 days is that the status might change to "taking longer than expected" or something like that. Don't pay too much attention to it.

The google sheet is definitely better than USCIS's estimates, but can still be hit or miss. Looking at the Oct filers is a good start. The other thing to look at is how accurate prior estimates were. E.g. I was an August filer and my interview date was around 5 weeks later than the calculation. My spouse was an anomaly and got hers months before her estimate. Read through the notes column and you'll see a range, but mostly that the estimates run a little late.

Also, are you talking about an interstate move, or just moving houses?

Thanks for the insights!! interstate move. The google sheet is currently showing Sep'2020 filers getting interview notices. I guess it will be a couple of months for my turn!

  6. I am a Nov-2020 filer, my case status is showing 23 days to decision. We have moving plans, but I am willing to postpone the move for a few weeks if these estimated days really mean anything.

I guess none of our Oct-2020 filers (I guess 3 or 4 of them in the google sheet) have received the decision yet.

Curious to know what happens after 0 days to decision - folks who have been through this, please share. Thanks!!

  7. Nov-2020 filer. I know there have been lot of discussions on how crappy the USCIS estimated timeline is and good reasons to ignore it. I see the estimated time of 3 months today, which is pretty close to what I can expect based on the previous filers. I am wondering if USCIS did do something about making the estimates somewhat close to reality.

Curious to know the estimated wait time of Sep-2020 & Oct-2020 filers.

Ok, in another thread people were talking about loading a document to help trigger processing.

I initially loaded 5 years of tax information when I sent my paperwork in, but it’s been so long my most recent transcript wasn’t on the site. So I loaded my 2020 tax transcript. We will see if it impacts my application.

Good luck!! your N400 is due anyway according to the google sheet, so if u get a notice we won't know if it is because of the trigger or its just regular course of action from USCIS 🙂 but no harm in trying everything within our limits.

Did it just turn to 13 months? If so, maybe congrats, you have an interview setup. It turn to 13 month as a standard from the time they set you for interview. Did you check the documents tab to see if you have interview letter?

I think it has been 13 months for quite sometime. My documents tab has "Bio reuse" notice from 12/14/2020, that's it. Nothing else.
