Good Afternoon!
Yoko and I are headed down the home stretch, hopefully, (interview in just over a week!) but we had a few questions about form DS-156:
Question #26 asks how long you intend to stay in the US. In the case of a K1 petition, what is a good way to word "permanently, once we get married." I assume the answer for question 27 is simply "to get married."
Finally, question #36 asks if anyone has ever filed an immigrant visa petition on your behalf. Does this mean before this one or including this one?
thank you in advance for any thoughts on this subject,
Scott

Tonight I received an email notice from USCIS informing me that my petition's approval is in the mail! Even better, I was on Yahoo voice to Yoko at the time the email arrived and we could share the initial excitement together!

Thought I would join in and share the wait.
I received the NOA1 fairly quickly - now for the longer wait...

Thanks everyone for the replies and advice. We will put the social on the form, and include a photocopy of her card for additional clarification. She is checking her records for her old A# but if not we will put 'unknown' as suggested.
Mailing the package next week, feeling a little nervous, as I always do when something important leaves my hands and goes into the unknown. I like to think we have it all covered: I have included my orders stationing me in Japan, a signed statement from my commander verifying I am/was stationed in Tokyo (back to the US next week), both our apartment leases placing us in Tokyo, translated utilities bills, copies of passes of her visiting the air base with me listed as the sponser, and a dozen or so labeled photos. To make double sure we are going to the base legal office on Thursday to both sign and have notarized our statement about 'how we met' and 'having met in person.' <crosses fingers for everything to go smoothly>
Again, Yoko and I thank you for the advice!

Good Evening! I am brand new to this site and have been greatly enjoying the information available here. I have just about everything in order to send in our petition and am only waiting until I move in two weeks to send it (long story short, I am moving from Japan back to America on the 25th and figured I would not complicate the process with an overseas address change).
My one concern is that my fiancee already has a social security number/card due to her having attended college in the US and having various student jobs. I am wondering if I should put that on the petition form, perhaps including a photo copy of her card, or if that will needless complicate things, etc? Will she keep this number after she arrives in the US or is a brand new one going to be assigned?
I apologize in advance if this is covered elsewhere, a search of a few minutes did not seem to indicate this topic being addressed.
Thank you for any advice!

Yesterday was Yoko's interview and she was approved.
Only two more weeks until she moves here!
