First I want to wish you ###### luck to all in your Visa Journey.....
I need a little help ... I married Wendy a Dominican in Aruba which means I will need to do Medical and Interview in Caracas. I will be traveling with Wendy and our 5 yo daughter Jessica.
I don t know the area where embassy is located and am looking to get info on a safe close area with the possibility of names of Hotels that have suites (kitchenettes) or Apt type hotels... I have been looking at prices... and WOW !!!!!!!!! I will be there about a week (Medical , Interview and wait for Visa)
Any help or info would be appreciated.....

Ive been to the Embassy in Caracas many times. Iwill ask Lerry to give me the exact address and maybe a hotel. Our K-3 arrived in NVC on Oct 15 and sent to Caracas on Oct 17 by 18th I email caracas and they sent me via email the instructions and date. They didn't give us much time so be ready, 10-30-2007 at 8:30am. you can reach me at luidavis@aol.com. Lerry will be in Caracas tomorrow. Email me and I will give you his direct email and cell if you need it. Good Luck. I thought there was a panel of physicians located in Aruba so that she can know that out and you wouldn't have to stay as long. They emailed me that list as well. email them and they will send you the physicians in Aruba. It will save you some money. Be sure that she takes the appointment letter (even if it is email) to the medical appointment along with the medical forms.

Downfall is if you are self-employed and of course need all the taxbreaks possible, IRS explained to me that If my husband gets here before December 31 of this year I am required to file married which takes away my Head of Household tax break. Regardless, if you are supporting your wife/husband.

this is how its going...
we send the 130 like 2 months ago and they send us the receipt number like 1 month ago...
We live in Dallas Tx, and on my way to work, Irving Police pull me over for 1 ligth... brake light was off... because i dont have driver license they put me in jail for like 3 days and they let me go.. with ICE Officer behind me, to immigration ...
They take my fingerprints... but because we have the paper work from USCIS... i told to immigration Officers about it.. but they just tell me.. my only options are.. Volunteer Departure, or Judge... if i choose judge I need to wait around 2 to 3 months in jail.. so i choose volunteer departure...
my wife comes to mexico after 1 week i was here, and when she come back.. we got the 130 receipt notice and another notice...
she may be deploy overseas around march to june... because now its the turn for her company to go...
this is my questions...
1.-How can we speed the process when we know if shes going deployed overseas...
2.-If she gets deployed, or because shes in the army... its no other way to be with her soonest... i dont see her till she get deployed and wait without her for another year or more...
all the comments will be appreciate...

Recently, there was an 800 number that USCIS posted just for families of military that were due to deploy, as a matter of fact, they will take some priority. Have your Active duty spouse contact immigration through the RFE trick or just let them know you are military and ask how and if you can expedite your case. The will give you a fax number and proceed with their instructions

Great, just when we thought things were going to really get going after the NOA2. I guess we will plan on a January 08' interview date. We got our NOA2 on Sept. 24th

I am just thinking that the NVC will get our application at the end of October, then it will be there for about 3 weeks and get down to the Lima Ebassy and then about 45 days from that puts us after the Christmas and New Years Holiday into next year.
I would not be discouraged. I filed April 24, 2007; received may 22, I-130; Approved 10/03...I-129f sent around June 5, also approved Oct 3...both were touched 10-4,5,6,7,8,&9..today I called the NVC and gave them only my social security number and they said they had received my 129-f on 10-15 approved it and sent it today 10/17 to Caracas...2 days at the NVC..as for the I-130 they didn't have a record of it.
I think its getting better, at least I hope so. Good luck

Well, I'm starting to get depressed. We receive our NOA2 at 09/14 and no NVC so far.
I just saw a timeline from Brazil that has gotten the NOA2 at 09/24 and NVC at 10/11. What should I do?
Hi Clau, I saw that too. I think we can all agree this process isn't always fair
. Hold tight, you are almost there! Have you called NVC yet? You're over 30 days. Maybe they will give you some good news. Good Luck!
Is the processing time through NVC only long for petitions from CSC, or is it long for VSC also?
From what I've seen, there's only a delay with CSC, VSC (although approvals are slow) seems to be mailing cases off right away after approval.
I just called NVC and our case arrived on 10/15 and left today 10/17. Thank God! I hope this sheds a little light on the wait time. We were approved on 9/10.

I received my NOA2 on Oct 3, touched on 10/5, 10/6, 10/7, 10/8, 10/9; NVC received it 10/15; NVC sent it today 10/17 to Caracas EMbassy. 2 days at the NVC...AWSOME!!!!

I think this FAX # deal is bogus. USCIS communicate by mail ONLY.
They don't fax like that. What is next they will call your cell phone to see how you feel?
It is a stunt by the person answering the phone to calm you down or not.
If a laywer with good experiance did your paperwork I'm sure they are all right.
Maybe I am wrong. I just do not trust those folks who answer phone because its is a different strory each time you call them and ask for status.
Well, my friend USCIS held up to there word. I received the fax and this is what they are requesting. I can't believe our applications are being held up because of this request:
On my birth certificate is my maiden name and I had been married before to USC. Obviously we got divorced however, I continued to use my married name. The question is the I need to submit documentary evidence to establish my maiden name and ex married name is the same person ! WHAT THE HELL??????????????????????????????????????????????????????? Right now I am so furious after these people have every bit of information on you!! They know more about you than what you know about yourself. All day I have been sick like a dog worrying myself on what else they would need. Also, to top it off they want photo Identifications. What kind of photo do I need for when I was a baby??? How do I proceed? Any help will greatly be appreciated..

Here is the response to USCIS, the Senators Office and Congressmans Office:
I would advise you as strongly as possible, not to send the response you posted here, to USCIS.
They just want documentation that shows Jane Maidenname became Jane Marriedname by marrying Bill Marriedname. You get copy of the marriage certificate showing Jane married Bill and you have it covered. If your divorce certificate from Bill Marriedname showed you as Jane Maidenname, as many do, I would have thought that would be sufficient. If not, and the divorce decree only showed married names then their is a disconnect. These people are just doing their jobs like the task oriented bureaucrats they are. Instead of poking them with a stick, just feed them what they ask for. If you can throw in a copy of picture ID's in both names that would be icing on the cake, but not required.
My divorce decree only shows my ex married name and the previous marriage license shows my maiden name. I will make copies of the divorce decree and the previous marriage license to send to USCIS.

Hi, sorry about your situation, however, I agree that it is best to work with them than against them. In your divorce decree, it should say that you are choosing to return to your maiden name and when the judge rules on the final decree it should stated, if not then your legal name is still the name on your divorce decree. That's probably what they are getting at, and really you legally couldn't use your maiden name without the judge's authority. Therefore check your decree and see if you changed it, if not, you really need USCIS on your side, tell them you understand and apoligize for being so stressed but you need to be with your husband and ask them to guide you and suggest what to do. Immigration has the authority to do a name change, you have to work with them. I am sure these officers are overworked and have to listen to all of us complain (with reason) 24/7. Call them and ask them to help you clarify.

According to my fiancee's friend, Moscow Embassy requires that all Russian documents (birth certificate, police report, etc.) have apostil. I have never seen it on the embassy website, and nobody here ever mentioned anything about this. Moreover, the translations from Russian to English don't even need to be notarized according to the embassy website. Please let me know what you think as this is completely new for us, and there is only 3 weeks before the interview...

I have my original marriage certificate, but to get it apostille we had to go to another city Cumana which takes care of all official civil records and they basically printed out a new one with ALL KINDS OF STAMPS and SEALS. We could not have gotten it in our local municipality. Without it, the Venezuelans feel that it is not a legal document without these seals. It was not an additional paper just stamps throughout especially the last page

We had to apostille ours in Venezuela, I believe its because the government requires it to be a legal document. As far as the translations, to be safe, even though it doesn't say so on the website, whoever translates them for you have them start out with I, xxxxx, hereby certify that this document, (marriage, birth etc) is a true translation of the origina attached (marriage, birth, etc) and I would still have someone like your bank notarize it.

no ur wife should translate them and then verify them from the authority.these papers should be notarized also from the court in ur husband's country(just my own opinion and experience)
I am glad to see others perhaps agree on the same thought about translation. I have dual citizen in Venezuela and originally I was applying at the Caracas Embassy, with the help of a very nice vice consul, the day I showed up the law changed that the consulate could no longer accept the petitions there, however, prior to being let down I submitted my application and certificates in Spanish and they said they didn't need the translation. When I came to the states to refile, USCIS said as long as I am capable to translate and I can certify at the beginning of the translation, then close it with my banks notary. Given that, when I go on the NVC website and you go to the link that tells you what the NVC requires from you it sends you to your embassy wich you have to select, it does say translations as long as they are certified. Period. I am sure every consulate may be different, it doesn't hurt to ask the NVC or email the embassy. Whenever I email the Caracas embassy with ANY question, they respond before the end of the day. Good luck.

My husband called the NVC today, it is a general holiday so he didnt talk to a live operator instead he just try the automated one and according to it, our case has been completed last Oct. 4! That was really a good news. It says also that I may have my schedule in 6-8 weeks, is that true? That was quite long but its ok we made it this far. Were looking forward to some updates again. Goodluck to all of us.
Congrats. By the way, I have my husbands police certificate, however it is dated March 2007. Do you guys know if its valid or do I need to get another one more recent to send to NVC

These are documents that need to be verified (stamped as accurate translation) by a legal or government office in your husbands native country.
Maybe I am wrong, but I understood that you, the USC, can translate but you have to certify it. I wrote, I, Luisa XXXX hereby certify that the translation to the mentioned (birth certificate, marriage licence, police records etc) document is a true translation and then had my bank notarize it. I preloaded my petition with everything translated per me, plus original, and never received and RFE.
That's not to say that I may not get one from the NVC. I hope not.

I just called USCIS again just now before my China trip for 3 weeks to visit her.. I will be leaving tomorrow (Friday) night.. the USCIS person said that it will take about another 6 weeks (rough estimate) just to start "processing" my case.. I said I was going on a trip soon and wanted to know if I am getting a RFE.. I just wanted to be prepared and do something before going on the trip... well, in any case they said it will be another 6 weeks... I told them that I also filed the I-129F (but in June due to their computer problem in April).. she said that they will process both of them at about 6 weeks time.. so the timeframe is based on the I-130's time.. but one thing that bothers me is that she said my date is "April 27" date (ONLINE STATUS), and not the "April 16" (application received at USCIS)... that's another 2 weeks lost right there... man.. this is getting to be too long for us..
165 days + 6 weeks (42 days) ==> 207 days???

My heart goes out to you! This is whole process is making me crazy!!! I just can't believe all this delays and do not understand how others are processed quickly and the rest of us have hit a brick wall at CSC. Not fair and unjustified because there is some
ridicious reason for something else that is thrown in the mist with CSC. This process center needs help and has gone pass other process centers! I have been told if you want something you need to fight for it because its not important to anyone else. Our families are our lives and are most important! I'm going to bother people (Congressman or Senators Office) until they are sick of me; like how I am sick of this entire process continuing to keep our families seperated. NOT FAIR!!!! I recieved two touches in the couple of days but, now I do not believe nothing will come out of it.
So, disheartening!!! Anyway on the bright note enjoy time with your spouse. Cherish every moment with because who knows the time you will unite again...Good luck my friend...
Just a positive note. I have similar time line and was touched Sept. 28 29 I called RFE Trick, they said I had about 6weeks of processing. I reminded them my real date was April 24, and notice May 22. they try to go by 1st date but sometimes overlook it and used the notice date. Anyways, when they tell you there's 6 more weeks it means they are actually processing you app. You should be getting approved very shortly. I got approved on the Oct 3rd both I-130 and I-129. Here are the questions that my SO was asked. It has been a few weeks, so I hope I can remember them all. They will not be in the right order, I am sure, but you will get the idea.'
First let me tell you that we had some red flags: big age difference (27 years), my 3 divorces (last one being July, 2006 but had been married 22.5 years and he is the one who left unexpectedly) , relationship since Nov., 2006. We have no children, so that was not an issue. I had visited him for 3 weeks in March, then 4 weeks in June, with plans for 3 more weeks in Sept. I also realize that not many people can go that much, but I am a teacher at a year round school with that schedule. However, the cost has been hard to cover. Now we are gonna have to work to pay off my skyhigh VISA card. Anyway, as to why we got ours and others didn't, I have no idea. My SO was not nervous going into the interview as he expected to get turned down. The thing I would change would be I would have made a much longer letter addressing all of those issues on our initial application. Sometimes I wonder if they don't care if the poor guys leave. My SO did not make much, etc. I also included the form about my income, can't remember what it is called. I kept sending him things to add to his booklet, but they never looked at them.
Here are some of the things I did: As soon as we applied for the K-1, I contacted my two senators and my congressman, signed releases and sent them a lengthy letter explaining our relationship and Casa's reputation. So they knew what was going on from the beginning. I was soooo very lucky to hear back from all of them with supportive statements. So I called/wrote all of them before his interview and all three wrote emails to Casa saying they were taking an interest in this case and to let them know the outcome. I wrote a detailed 3 page letter addressing all of our red flags and telling them how we would work these out. I included details of all of my trips and stated that I had tickets for the next trip already. I was going to send this with my SO, but my congressman's secretary ended up sending it with her email right before his interview. This might have helped, but who knows? I sent him additional pics and such to add to his packet. Right before his interview, I printed page 1 of all of our Yahoo IM's. She did look at a few of those, but not at the pics.
Anyway, here are the questions as I remember them:
1. What is her full name?
2. Where does she live?
3. Where else has she lived?
4. What does she do for a job?
5. Where did you meet her? She wanted to know the name of the site.
6. Why did you go to that site? (His friends told him about it,)
7. Did you talk to other women? (A few, but not after I met her.)
8. Why did you choose her? He took this opportunity to talk about the stuff we had in common, such as hobbies.
9. Do you talk on the phone?
10. When did you meet?
YOU WILL LOVE THIS ONE:
11. When is your mother's birthday? He told her he wasn't sure, but that he could call his mother and ask her. She said no. But then she asked him if he knew that she was the same age as me (lol). He said yes. She asked him what her mother thought of that, if she was surprised. He told her no, that she loved me, had no problem with that and that here are some pics of us together. But she didn't want to see them. He told her that his family had no problem with that and that they loved me.
12. Where will you get married? He said USA, but she asked "Church or mosque" he said her home.
13. What does your family and her family think of the relationship?
14. How many divorces? Why and when was she divorced the last time?
15. What is last husband's name?
At the end, she looked at a few of our chats. I had sent page one of all of our chats up to that time. But she didn't look at any pics. Anyway, he said she was very nice to him, which totally surprised me.
Hope this helps others. We are doing great, making plans, rushing around. I will keep in better touch in the future, promise.
