  1. Hey guys, I am sick worried here. I still haven't got my EAD. Here is the story. AOS package was recieved on 05/29/08 at the chicago lockbox. After a month I got an RFE for I485 regarding my co sponsors copy of passport or birth certificate which was sent back and recieved on 07/10/08.

Now my question is does my waiting period count from the original date when they got the AOS package or after the RFE recieved date? Remember the RFE had nothing to do with EAD? It was additional request for the photo copies of documents concerning 485 or am I wrong?

Should we make an appointment with infopass? Can they help us out with EAD to speed up the process. B.t.w I never got the appointment letter for biometrics either but when we called USCIS they said some people don't require it because their biometrics is already done in there home country. I do remember geting biometrics done at the US embassy during my k1 interview but I have no clue what it was for? any ways any advice or suggestions would be highly appreciated. Thank you for your time

We had AOS package received on 7/16, which was transferred to CSC. I haven't heard anything to this point about Biometrics and it seems like most people get notified within a month. Also the USCIS site has no record of the I-131 and I 765 when I do the case search, but only the I-485. I'm confused whether the Biometrics process needs to be done (fingerprinting was done at Montreal embassy) and more importantly who can give me some information. I'm thinking about INFOpass, but if they are as useless as the 800 # for USCIS, I'm not sure what good that will do. So I may be in the same boat as you.

  2. Hello all. My wife filed in July as well, the 16th. Its been two months and I haven't even been contacted in regards to Biometrics. Does anyone know a phone # where you can call to actually get some assistance. The USCIS 800 # is still totally useless. My case got transferred to CSC. I don't know what bearing this has on things, but I am assuming she needs BioMetrics before they will approve the I-131 and I-765. Any opinions on who to contact at this time would be appreciated. Thanks

  3. Hey all... We had our interview in Mtl last Thursday. It's been a busy week back at work so I haven't had a chance to post about it yet. Fortunately everything went as smoothly as possible. We stayed at the Intercontinental, a few blocks from the Consulate. Our appt letter said 9:30, but we showed up a little after 8 to be on the safe side. Basically they just checked us in and we waited for our number to be called. Then they take some fingerprints and ask for the documents. With my affidavit, they just looked at one of my paystubs and that was it. With the medical, they didn't look at the X-ray. I imagine its cause they can't read it anyway. Then we paid at the cashier and waited again. Then they brought us back into a room and asked a few basic q's: when did you meet, when is the wedding, etc. Really friendly about the whole thing. They then tell us we are approved! The only hitch was that they no longer sell expresspost envelopes, so make sure you bring one. We had to go to the post office down the street.

We spent the rest of the weekend celebrating in MTL. Other than the weather, everything else was a blast. My fiancee got her visa a couple days ago, and is coming next week. Good luck to all of you!

  4. Hello all,

Quick question that i'm sure has been covered before. If the petitioner's income is significantly above the minimum line (with pay stubs and a letter from employer), do tax returns, bank statements, and financial assets need to be presented? Thanks for any assistance on this one.

  5. Thanks for the advice on this one. The birth certificate we have is a copy, at least it is in English. I'll have her check with the Pak Embassy to see if they can help. If not, there is an option in packet 3 which states that if you can't get an original birth certificate that you can get a notarized statement from your mother saying you are who you say. This has to be done in a sworn affidavit. Has anyone ever gone this route? Can it be done fairly quickly?

  6. Hello everybody,

My fiancee is awaiting Packet 4 for her interview date. Everything seems ready to go except in regards to her birth certificate. She is a Canadian citizen (w/ Canadian passport) but was born in Pakistan. Seems that she only has a copy of her original birth certificate and not the actual original. I am guessing such a photocopy will not be acceptable?

Is there a process by which we can get that photocopy notarized or something that would be acceptable for the US Consulate? Any suggestions would be helpful? Thanks much

  8. Hello all.

My fiancee is awaiting receipt of Packet 3 from Montreal. Does anyone know if those forms (not sure how many) can be completed online? Also do the police report, medical, and I-134 need to go back with Packet 3, or do we just need to bring all those items to the interview? Any assistance with these questions would be much appreciated. Thanks

  9. Thanks for the suggestions. I think I will start calling on a daily basis, but I am not sure what kind of impact those customer service representatives have. I guess I could consider getting a lawyer, but I'm not sure that would expedite anything at this point. I'm curious if anyone is still left without approval from June. They have assured me that they have not misplaced or misfiled my application (not that I believe them). Its especially frustrating because now it seems that its still a lengthy process even after NOA-2 approval.

  10. I had my NOA-1 received at CSC on June 11th. Still nothing on NOA-2 and no touches since June 14th. First I would call and they said we can't say anything until 6 months pass. Now they cite that they are processing forms from April 29th and it may take another 90-120 days. Is anyone else in a similar boat with CSC? I think some people who sent their forms in July have already been approved. Any advice would be appreciated.
