  1. Hello everyone.

I just moved to the States this month and turns out that my investment platform etoro is not working in the US because when I signed up I was in South Korea and was under the Australia law/regulations. Now that I became a Green Card holder, they must return my investment and close my account.

When I was in Korea, I would save money from my salary and invest it in crypto, stocks, etc. So now that the market is down, my initial investment of over 30k went down to 13k. I'm so pissed that etoro is doing this and it's so stupid. Anyways, I'm new to the whole US taxes, how would this be considered in my taxes, is US going to further take out a chuck of that 13k that I get or will it be in consideration as a loss from 30k? The etoro asked me to fill W-9 form.

Do i need to hire someone to get a consultation?

I do not want to pay even more money in taxes as i already lost so much from closing those positions and gained nothing when the value of everything is in red.

Ps. I am planning to invest whatever I get back with hopes of returning at least what I originally put.

    Thanks for any pointers.

Do all of the following to maximize the chances that your GC/SSN will be delivered to your new address --

    1. Provide your new address to the CBP officer who will process your entry.  Sometimes they do not ask, so make sure to volunteer the info.
    2. You, the visa holder, should create a myUSCIS account, if you haven't already.  Update your I-551 online profile information, including your physical/mailing address, on your account.  The I-551 profile will be associated to your immigrant fee receipt number.
    3. Your spouse, the USC sponsor, should mail the I-865 form for sponsor's change of address.

Hello! Just got to the states this week.

I told the officer at the entry my new address and wanted to do #2. but whenever i look up this i-551 info it shows this page: https://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/temporary-i-551-stamps-and-mrivs

I wanted to make sure the address was correct and also add my new phone number.

WOW thank you, do I also need to change address anywhere in the forms or they are reflected when I give them at the POE. I worry I might miss some important forms to fill or notify due to being oblivious.

    1. You'll be asked at POE to confirm. Give CBP new address

    2. 10 days is the rule when you already have a GC and moved. You don't have a GC.

    3. If you have a US line prior to entry, do as (1) above. If not, leave the one that's there and change it later when you get your GC.

Since you're married, you're doing CR-1. Have you paid the GC delivery fee of $220? You can pay it anytime, but just remember GC won't be issued until it's paid

Yeah i paid 220 as soon i got my passport with info that i need to pay.

Is there a way to add address before entry?

  5. Hey! I got my visa in April to enter the US.

Whenever there was a question of inputting a US address, we would put the address of my husband's mother in Puerto Rico since we did not live in the US. Now that we are planning to actually enter the US, we found and signed a 6 month rental contract for a house in TX. Thats where we will live.

    1. I know I have to provide the USCIS or somewhere else my new address so they can send my Green Card and SSN. I wonder what and how to do that?

    2. We signed the rental contract maybe a month ago, I wonder if there is some rule like 10 days when we had to notify? It complety slipped my mind.

    3. Also do I need to provide the correct phone in the US later when we get one?

We will enter the US in 2 weeks.

    Thanks

If you click on your timeline, you will see a link called "show similar timelines".  Click that and check the other timelines.

I saw that the 4 others have not gotten Interviews. I clicked "reset search" and just entered the visa type, country and embassy.  One of the results was this:

    https://www.visajourney.com/timeline/profile.php?id=387951

That couple was DQ'd in Nov 2021 and their interview was in Jan 2022.  So, about 2 months.

    Thank you!

  7. Hello, thank you for all your help in this forum.

I have a question about the required documents from Petitioner and Joint sponsor. From what I understand both need to provide same things:

    • I864
    • Proof of income (and assets, if any)
    • Proof of U.S. citizenship
    • If relevant, Form I-864A completed by each individual who will combine their income and/or assets with the joint sponsor’s to meet the minimum annual income requirements.

However to prove income what combination is required? Letter from employer, W2, recent tax year or all 3 yeas, or 6 months pay stubs? What if the Joint sponsor was in military and his W2 is low for last year.

    Thank you.

  8. Hello, I ran into some doubts, me and my husband (US citizen) are both living in Korea and applying online for I-130.

In the part where it asks us to upload photos, i don't understand why it says:

    Quote

Also, include an image of the back of the photograph with your name and A-Number written in pen or pencil.

So, since we have our photos only digitally, does that mean we have to print also the photo, sign, upload again? Also, we don't have A-number.

    Thank you

  9. Hello everyone~

Ad the time to upload our online I-130 is approaching, I found myself wondering on the proper way to upload all PDF forms for our bona fide proof.

We have a lot of PDF to prove our marriage and Here are some ways to upload them.

Please help choose which one of the following looks/sounds correct to follows:

OPTION A: upload all documents separate in each PDF:

    1. Previous apt lease

    2. Current apt lease

    3. Bank transaction

    4. PDF of the Cover Letter with photos

    5. Letter of support from friend A

    6.  Letter of support from friend B

    7.  Letter of support from friend C

    8. Health Insurance card with name of a spouse and beneficiary

    9. Power of Attorney for Year-end tax

OPTION B: put each PDF as a category:

    1. Both Leaves in one PFT: previous apt lease + current apt lease

    2. ALL Letters of Support as one PDF

    3. Health Insurance card and Power of Attorney for Year-end tax

or another way not mentioned above?

    Thank you all~

Hope this thread helps others too.

  10. Hello, I have an issue with completing the part about "Information about beneficiary in their native written language" because:

    1. My native language is Russian BUT my country's language is Turkmen.

    2. I live in South Korea, where they do NOT use Roman letters.

Therefore, while I can write my name in Russian, it makes no sense in writing my Korean address in Russian since there is no way to make an address in Russian, we always use either English transcription for any international postal service and Korean for inside Korea.

Should I write my Name in Russian and Address in Korean OR leave this portion blank because I can't make Korean address with Russian letters due to absence of transcription?

Filing Online I-130> Both me (beneficiary) and my husband (US citizen) are living in South Korea together.

    Thank you
