  1. Okay quick question, it stated in the information the following:

    -has been lawfully admitted for permanent residence (see preceding section);

    -has resided continuously as a lawful permanent resident in the U.S. for at least 5 years prior to filing with no single absence from the United States of more than one year;

I guess my question is since my DH came on K3 he was admitted a year before he received his permanent resident status, but the purpose of the K3 is to admitted for permanent residence. I could be wrong but was wondering which date do we go by to file for naturalization. Also, how many months before your 3 year anniversary can you file, 3 or 6? Clearly if it was the earlier time we are way pass 3 years so we predict the answer to be the latter but want to make sure. Thanks so much!

  2. Hey gang long time since I have posted on here. I wanted to stop by and say hi to some old faces and all the new ones. DH will be applying for naturalization and I am the designated informant on the process, haha I guess I have become his secretary! I know lots of MENA folks come and go and sometimes you wonder what the heck every happened to so and so. Well we are still around life has gotten us busy and keeps it that way. Careers are coming along for DH and I am finishing up the doctorate while still doing my civil service paid like I work at Burger King JOB! Although once again I will need time off from my studies since we are expecting another addition in June, yeah me. Never when I started my relationship 6 years later I ever predicted being a mama to five children, holy smokes world watch out as my spawns are out there in the mix !!!!!!!!!!! Looking forward to making those old connections and some new ones out there. Hope you all are enjoying Thanksgiving weekend it will be a great closure to this holiday tomorrow when da Bears kick the BUTTS of the Raiders

  3.

I only have one that young and it makes me crazy too, I cant even imagine having two....

Sara I just want to say how much she has grown up, I can't believe she will be 3 years old wow, time sure has flown by. Although I guess if I am on number 4 for me (2 with DH) time must be flying!

  4. Hello to all my MENA family

    Name: Abdulnasir

    Where I'm from: Columbus, ohio

    SO's name: Meryem

Where she's from in Morocco: FEZ (the most beautiful city in Morocco!!)

Anything else I want to add: We have been married A little more than a year now.... alhumduallah. And we just had A beautiful little girl last month. Sooo we are soooooooo happy right now!

Have I been to Morocco?: Yes many of times :)

Salam brother, I wanted to say Congrats on your daughter's arrival! I remember when you were waiting for your wife to come and so nice to see how everything has worked out. Your Lina is our Nahla's middle name, its a lovely one too

  5. Okay so haven't been on these boards in awhile but this is something we would love to do!!! Last year we tried to attend a similar event but I had gotten to ill after the baby was born, well no baby born this year so I think we will attempt to buy tickets this time. Since we are already in vegas we will be staying in our home, lol....is their someone keeping track of who is going? where is everyone staying?
  6. We had our interview this morning. We arrived at about 7:25 and was called at about 8:30, for our 8:00 interview. We were sworn in by the IO and sat down. She confirmed what was on the I-485 with my DH and asked for current pay stubs and 2008 tax return. She asked my husband one question, how did he propose to me and me three questions. First, how did you like your husband's country, how did you survive being separated for your first year of marriage and how have your children adjusted since your husband has been home. Then she said, your application is approved. Your GC should arrive within the next 4 weeks. She remind us that it is a 10 year green card and that he can apply for citizenship in July 2012! I did manage to show her some photos when talking otherwise she did not seem interested in them or any other evidence we had with us. Now we just wait for the GC to arrive in the mail.

On another note, she did not give us a letter of approval or stamp my husband's passport she said it was not necessary. I know each office does things slightly different, but wondering if that happened to anyone else. I was thinking maybe because my husband's visa is multi entry it would not be necessary, but doesn't he need to have the PR stamp in his passport to travel? Any thoughts would be great. Thanks Everyone for your help.

First congratulations on the interview results !!!

My wife was K-3 also, and they did stamp the I-551 in her and my daughter's passports, as she also cancelled the existing K-visas with her pen.

The red I-551 stamp serves notice that the applicant is now under Permanent Resident status (10year GC) and employment is authorized.

Again, not sure why some will do and some not, for the same type visa. But you will have the GC in hand in less than a month.

Thanks everyone! I read that some recent approves did not either and then some do. Its fine we are happy its over with!!!

  8. hi chibby.. when we sent the AOS I just include the vaccination sheet, I did not fill up the I-693. I'm wondering now if I will submit that on my interview. Do I need have more vaccination? or just show them my vaccination sheet.? thanks

This is a question that I was wondering, but on the interview letter it does say if applicable after this statement. Now I would think that since you needed to submit or there needs to be a current I-693 on file to even get an interview you would not need to bring it or complete a new medical. It does say to bring in your AOS package you originally sent at the end of listed documents, hence this would have any medical information if you needed. Our interview is in one week so I will see if this is a factor at this point. Of course I could be wrong, but for some reason it seems that if there is a current one on file a new one is not needed (on file means before your SO entered the country) unless it is expired. Let me know your thoughts Chibby.

  9. I am going back to work this fall from taking time off  we are looking for a nanny now to start in Aug (a live in nanny). If I had an older aunt, a sister or any family member then I would be able to have them live with us and help out with the children, but I do not and I am not in Morocco where cousins are plentiful and willing to come, live and help out the family. We checked day care costs and compared them to having someone live in with us and they are about the same, the only issue is we do not have to drive out with the children at 6 am to drop them off! (we both start at 7!). I do not think having a nanny takes away anything with being part of your childdren's lives. For us it is a good opportunity to ensure our children our safe and in an enviorment they are comfortable with, I will not even begin to talk about the baby, she doesn't seem to like anyone holding her except for baba or mama :crying: So I just hope we do not ended up going though nannies like a bottle of water on a hot summers day
  10. Yesterday we received a letter for our interview!!! July 28.

Now if we would just hear something on the EAD and AP!

Chibby, bummer on the spreadsheet. Thanks so much for keeping it updated.

Congratulations on the interview date !!!

At least it was a July date, I have noted that they have already started issuing dates in August, as of this week, so it appears that most of the July dates are now taken.

Make sure you have all the backup docs with you, especially those that deal with evidence of a bona fide relationship/marriage.

Your EAD should come very soon now, ours came two weeks after we had notice of our interview date. But remember you will turn the EAD in to the IO, at interview time.

Our interviews are this next week, will keep all of you posted.

    Best wishes to all !!!

Well good news we got the interview letter yesterday. It will be July 23, 3 days after our 2nd Anniversary. We have the copy of what we submitted to bring to the interview along with a few of those items of a bonafide marriage. I have a few questions, it states to bring my divorce degree along with my custody paper for my children? I do not have a separate custody paper for my children from my previous marriage, I have only the complete divorce document that is like 50 pages! Does anyone know if there is a supplemental for this or is that okay to bring? Thanks!

  11. Yesterday we received a letter for our interview!!! July 28.

Now if we would just hear something on the EAD and AP!

Chibby, bummer on the spreadsheet. Thanks so much for keeping it updated.

Sorry about the spreadsheet. Congrats on your interview date!!!! We did end up calling yesterday about not getting a date yet and they said our local office is backed up and only working on AOS that were sent in from Aug :crying: what does that mean, that we have to wait and wait before an interview its a bummer we wanted to be done with this ASAP not four years still dealing with USCIS. The customer service rep tried to explain how families are still not together I told her do not tread on that water you will get more then you bargained for with me in this conversation . We were to have my MIL apply for visitor visa during this summer, but I guess without DH having his GC we will just have to wait. I am afraid that since he is the one who is supporting us I can not offer a letter of support for her and neither can he since he does not have a GC yet, is anyone familiar with tourist visa's and writing the letter of support for family to visit?

  12. Well, it took awhile, but I checked this a.m. and both my I-485 cases are now viewable online in the USCIS system. I have checked two times each day, and this morning is the first day they have come up online.

I added them both to my portfolio, so now all four cases for I-485 and I-765, are viewable.

Three more weeks or so, until the AOS interviews for the 10 year GC's. :)

Wow three weeks until the interview that is exciting. We are still waiting for our letter with interview date. The sooner we get it the better we can plan for my husband to take the day off (and work another day to make up his miss day of work )

Keep us updated as your interview date approaches on your preparations.

  13. Just wanted to say congrats for those who are getting transferred and CONGTS for getting the card production on your EAD, that is awesome. We did biometrics on Saturday, I am wondering how long before we know our interview date? Also are children allowed at the interview? Does anyone know? I thought I read something about infants not being allowed in, but it could of been for something else.
  14. Congrats to everyone receiving NOA's and biometric's letters!! :dancing: :dancing:

We won't be home to check the mail for another 10 hours to see if we've got a transfer letter. At least no RFE yet either.

    Happy waiting!

    Shelly

Just wanted to say ditto on the congrats to everyone  . I have looked at March and Feb spread sheets and found that its not common for K3's to get transferred so we are not expecting that, what we do hope is my husband's green card being sent after our 2nd anniversary, since then it would be a 10 year instead of a 2 year conditional one. Can you tell we are tired of USCIS yet

Yes, you are correct, I have looked at many other K-3 files, going back a couple of years and I have not observed any so far, to get the CSC transfer, which usually means no interview.

We are in the same situation as you two, and having been married over two years now, plan on getting the 10 year GC upon completion of this process.

I think that for the K-1 filers, the USCIS gets a shot at an interview either at the first filing for AOS, or then when you go to get the permanent card, after two years.

With us K-3's, they only get one shot, so to speak, to have an interview, so I think we will stay at the NBC for adjudication, then get forwarded to our respective local office for the interview.

I am just happy to be at this stage of the process. :)

That's a good point, since K1's will not have been married before two years. I wonder how long does it take to have an interview, I hope that we could have it in July! We are in no rush just wanted to send it in before his medical expired which was in April. Its nice to see another K3er in April, Good Luck!

  15. Congrats to everyone receiving NOA's and biometric's letters!! :dancing: :dancing:

  16. Okay so guys we did get the biometrics appointment letter, just like everyone else  , man I thought we were special and USCIS would just forget about us like they usually do  I know I read that you can go early to your appointment to get it done. But I was wondering how do I find out the hours of my local application support center? For some reason I remembering seeing Saturday hours when we did his biometrics for his EAD but I am not sure if that is what I thought it should be or actually was. Any one know how I can get the hours?

    Thanks!
