Consular officers can't really tell how long it would take in AP though. My dad had an extensive travel history and was in AP for around a year and they had kept all our passports after our interview. Try making an inquiry after 90 days of interview. Hopefully you get your visa before then. All the best.

I understand. When I said, I have 3 months old son in the US and it is not fair for me to wait for months when I am here in-person and I have all the documents right now (I knew AP will take a few months to an year). In reply she said, it won't take that long, you have to reply to the email then your case will proceed, that's part of the process.

I think my case was approved but the counselor did not have the authority to approve it because of my travel history. In my opinion things have changed since March 03, 2020.

My case was very simple because my wife is my cousin and I presented a lot of family photos even when we were in our teens upto our marriage and the family dinners we had after the marriage. Plus I had my son's birth certificate, SSN etc.. And the counselor asked me very few questions because the photos and documents were self-explainatory.

I appreciate that you shared your experience but I think my case is different.

Congrats again for your wife's Visa. Please keep us updated about any travel restrictions when she travels to the US.

  2. From March 03, 2020 "Refused" is the new "AP". For reference visit "https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/News/visas-news/visas-ceac-case-status-change.html".

I had all the documents about my travel history including my degrees, visas, and police certificates from each country but the counselor didn't ask me about that during the interview (I have never been deported I always leave the country weeks before my Visa expiry). After the interview she took my passport and told me to reply the email (She did not asked to submit any document). I requested her that I have all the documents  right now, but she said you have an extensive travel history and its part of the process. She also told me that it won't take as long as the other APs that's why she kept my passport.

Interview was 7-1, they told her approved at the interview

    Congrats brother...

My interview was 23rd June, counselor kept my passport and my status changed to "Refused".

After the interview the sent me an email which I replied. A few days later the "Case Last Updated" changed to June 28th, after that the dates changed to July 1, July 9. Jully 11, July 15, July 16 but the status is same. Is there any count after which it changes to "AP"?

I am completely lost right now.

  4. I had my CR1 interview today. The counselor took my passport. She told me that my case will be in AP because I have travel history. She also said I neither have to submit any document nor I have to come back to the US embassy, all I have to do is to wait for an email and repy to the email. Does anyone here knows how long will it take to receive the email etc...???

I understand. This is indeed a very huge moment that you missed and it’s very unfortunate to say the least. I’m sure it was just as hard for your wife to go through the process alone without your love and support. I can’t imagine it. But don’t worry everything happens for a reason and this experience and distance will only bring you guys closer to each other in the future. Insha’Allah you will be reunited very soon as will the rest of us. Just pray and keep your hopes alive and your spirits high. Don’t listen to anyone here, they’re just being ignorant and aggressive. Hope your wife and child are doing well. Maybe it’ll help if your wife could visit you?

oh & many congratulations on becoming a new father! GoodLuck! :)

Thank you very much for your kind words. We were living together since July, but after 5 months of pregnancy, I decided to let her travel to US. According to the IL pattern at that time I thought I'll be with her in March, but it went wrong. I hope I'll get the IL this month, so, I don't have to apply for visit.

To your point, for the people who are ignorant  and aggressive. I am a strong unit and I don't get bothered by these tiny senseless  shmucks.

I would like to thank you again, you are such a gem. Please let me know, if you have any question. I'll try my best to answer it.

@Zaidi5 I can feel your frustration as you want to see your child. But imagine, if you want to see or live with the same kid 20, 30 years down the road and someone tries to stop you.  What would you do then? That is what Trump administration was trying to implement

I agree. That's frustrating for all of us. That's why I never said to ban any other category. This is where everyone misunderstood me. I meant, they should increase the capacity of Embassies and then open the flood gate of backlog.

But I hear you and I completely agree.

  7. I have observed and found out a teeny-tiny hope....

As we all know about the pattern, NVC schedule interviews for at least 20 Days. So, applicants are attending interviews from March 1 till the end of the March. But I have seen very few scheduled interviews for the month of April . Most of the days in April are vacant.

I think, there is a hope for us next week.

    I hope too....

I couldn't find anything but he said that it wasn't filled correctly and mentioned that I filled it incorrect.

    Idk what everything is there.

And I'm surprised that they accepted my documents on ceac account almost a year ago and almost took them a year to schedule interview and they had to ask for it last minute again so they could make us wait longer......

I think it won't take more than a few days, They rejected my Nikahnama, when I uploaded the other one they approved it in 3 days.

Calling NVC is a good option too.

Could you please let me know your DQ?

whatever you submitted at NVC bring that in interview, if additional things they required this time Embassy will send you email to bring it otherwise no need.

To my surprise, official website says " You do not need to bring your Affidavit of Support or financial evidence you submitted to NVC".

    As per their website

Either tax return OR tax transcript. so tax returns will be fine.

#2. Yes Keep your petitioner AOS with you that is Compulsory say them to send you email and take a print out of both of these.

By the way what years of tax returns you are taking with you.

    and Best of Luck

That was the question actually, I have the AOS with 2019 tax details. But my wife will file her tax at the end of the march and hopefully my interview will be in mid April. Do I have to update the AOS with 2020 tax details? Someone in the family told me that the AOS is good till one year after approval.

    But I'm not sure.
