  1. Donna has it, she has her visa!!! It was delivered a little after 5 this evening. She told me she called AirPak this morning and was told that it had not come over from the embassy. I have her on a flight leaving Kingston this Thursday for Atlanta. What a surprise, we were not expecting it until maybe Friday at the earliest, because of the hurricane and holiday. FutureMrs. and waynegeraldine, your visa must be right behind. I think Donna received her's today because she lives in Kingston. Thank you all for your prayers and support. So, in the next week or two I'll be back filling out more forms and checks.

Oh Jay, I am so happy for you :dance: . Have a wonderful Labor Day holiday  . I wish Donna a safe flight tomorrow!

Congrats! Just in time for a long holiday weekend!

  2. I met my boyfriend while vacationing in Jamaica. One of my Jamaican friends, relatives was braiding my hair at her house. (Ummm..sorry, but Bo Derrick is the ONLY white girl that can pull off that look! :P ) So here I sat for 2 freakin' hours only to want to rip them out of my head when I saw how ridiculous I looked, when the most amazing guy hands me a beer. Doesn't say a word, and walks away. There were alot of people at her house so I didn't have a clue as to who he was. My friend kept making comments about him looking at me, and I tried to act all cool like I didn't care. When I decided to leave, I walked up to him, asked him his name and the rest as they say.....

We went out that night and every night after until I had to go home. He worked at the resort next to the one I was staying, (Yep, another small world story) and he would sneek over during the day to see me! (L)

I completely feel that he and I were destined to be together. I was actually seeing someone when I met my fiance in Jamaica. We have been through so much. Laughter, tears, bad, bad and REALLY bad times, amazing times, break-ups and make-ups, misunderstandings on both our parts, other friendships, (His friends and mine) have come and gone, financial problems, children, family situations...I could go on. And being long distance for this long has taught us both many lessons in love.

  3. I'm new here, so sorry if this is a repeat question. I looked around, but didn't really find a question or answer as to what I'm looking for.

I will be visiting my fiance the middle/end of September. We are SLOWLY talking about starting the immigration process. I was going to take a few papers to get it started to have him sign and look over/fill out, etc. Educating myself is what step I'm at right now. Anyway, I came across the Poverty Guidelines form and I'm at a stand still now. I run my own business out of my home. With me and my children, there are a total of 4 of us in the household. My financial consultant prepares my taxes for me every year. However, once they are finished, it shows about a forth of my income. (It's ALL LEGAL-just alot of write-off's, "office" in my home and such) Bottom line, however, is THE FINISHED AMOUNT is what I show as income. There is a line, (12) to state my business income on the 1040, but then at the bottom, (Line 33) is what my adjusted gross income is. I think I'm screwed here. Anyone been in this situation before? I CAN'T be the only one. What do I do? PLEASE :help:

  4. Awww....my kids start school tomorrow too. My oldest will be a sophmore! UGH! My sophmore year! Seems like yesterday. I know about the driving things too. My daughter has her temps and soon will be able to take off whenever. :crying:

For those that have kids starting school .....ours starts tomorrow at 7:25am. First day of high school for my son, he's nervous shoot, I don't know whose more nervous, but I think he's really excited. He had New student orientation on Friday, his freshman class is the largest with over 400 kids !! It's going to be soooooooooo darn overwhelming!!! None of his friends want to ride the bus, they all wanna drive with us ....ugh!

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.

8/22/07- You guys are awesome...thanks so much for sharing your thoughts about Dean! My fiance made it through safely. JPS turned on his power yesterday and everything is pretty much back to normal. My family in Southern JA. said they had a couple of down trees and flooding, but nothing serious..THANK GOD!!! I hope everyone else in Dean's path made it through alright!

Happy to know that all is well with your fiance.

My boyfriend and his family made it through okay. Damage to the house roof, (Kitchen area) and a tree fell into a part of the house, but no water damage inside and everyone safe. As of last night, still no electric. (He lives in Ocho Rios) Don't know about H2O. Just wishing I was there with him...

  6. How long did you know your boyfriend/girlfriend before you became engaged? How long was your engagement? My fiance propossed to me in February of this year after dating for a long time. How many visits did you take to Jamaica in between times? I try to visit every 2-3 months, but this has been the longest we've gone :crying: ...it will be a little over 5 months when I get there in September.

  7. Hi everyone. Someone recommended this site to me...now I know why. I'm just here checking everything out. I'm in the U.S. My fiance's in Jamaica. We've been together a LONG time and are at the point in our lives where we are ready to settle down. I'm going back to see him the end of September and our "immigration talk" will begin. UGH! Just the thought gives me a headache! I'll be on here to watch how ya'll work through it all. Maybe someday soon, I'll be on asking for advice too.
