Hello, just wondering if there is any update on your case. Did you get your visa? I got into a similar situation 3 days ago. I was missing my birth certificate because the one I had brought was old and invalid. The officer gave me my passport back and gave me a 221g saying I have to mail my birth certificate along with my original passport to the given address. I'm scared I will have to wait for another year or two. Please let us know what happened to you. Thank you very much.

I have got my visa after 2 days of being in AP. i am in the US now, don't worry it will take around a month or 40 days after you submit the documents. Keep an eye on the case status. When it updates its a good sign.

I might add having the document on your interview would not have helped.

If you are the lucky ones whose security check gets done soon, you will be issued the visa in 15-20 days.  Else it could be a long wait.

I expect that you will get it in next 15-20 days

Hi my case status changed from refused to AP on friday 30th april,

Those dates means someone reviewed or updated your file.  I assume 15-Apr was that they received the additional documents from you.  The new few days that the documents were scanned and added to your file, and perhaps someone reviewed them.  You are now actually in AP - administrative processing.  If this was your first interview (March 23), then are waiting for Islamabad to complete your background check.  This can take weeks, months, and in a few cases, years.

Email the embassy in about 2 weeks (1 month from when you submitted your documents) to ask for any updates on your case, if it still shows refused.

I had the same situation but in my case they asked for police certificate, i emailed them after a month and they said we received your documents but the CO haven't reviewed it yet. yet the case updated around 4 times.

You need to familiarize yourself with the embassy by reading posts and embassy reviews and writing your own review

but as to your question,  you will see the status as refused while the case goes thru security checking and for Pakistan this takes anywhere from a few months to a year or more

    Patience is needed

I understand what you are saying but it was just a missing document, the CO said you don't have to comeback for another interview just post the document and we will process your case, i believe it wasn't any security check problem or any other AP senario, the interview went very well i was asked few questions, the only problem i had was the original police certificate missing, which i posted already, i just wana know how long do they normally take to review a single document.

  6. I had an interview on 18th of march 2021, the CO asked for original police certificate from United Kingdom (where i previously lived), i Provided the document the same day as it got delayed in the post so couldn't provide it during the interview. i posted the document on 18th march and the embassy acknowledged the receipt of the document the next day (19th march) but the case status still shows refused, the case last update changed 4 times, 22 march, 28 march, 30th march and now it changed yesterday 23 april, do any of you had any such experiance with the embassy? how long do they normally take to review the document. i contacted the embassy and they said the CO have not reviewed the document yet. thank you for your help.

It is very possible that your case is now in administrative processing which could take a few weeks, months, or years.  Pakistani cases are frequently subjected to extended processing after the interview.  Unfortunately, you just have to wait.....

It still says refused, the CO marked only the document and the passport on the form and asked me to post these to us when i get the document and we will process your case, he also told me i don't have to comeback for an interview again, do you still think its in AP?

  9. Hi i had my interview on 18 March 2021 the interview was smooth and the consular ask basic question but at the end he asked about the police certificate from United Kindom where i previously lived, i applied for it a month ago but it got delayed in the post, the CO asked me to post the document when i get it along with my Passport and they will process my case, the post came right after my interview and i posted it to the embassy the same day, they acknowledged the next day that they received the documents and i should wait for them to look into it, the visa status still remains refused.  how long do they normally take to process such cases? my visa type is IR1 and i am from Pakistan. sorry for the long massage and thank you so much for you time. any help would be much appreciated.

It's a good sign that they asked you to post your passport to them.  They need your passport to put the visa inside of it.  If they were going to deny your visa, they wouldn't need your passport.

Generally, returning the passport at the interview when no further information is being asked for is bad because they don't intend to put a visa inside of it.  Your case is different.  You were missing a document so that was why you got your passport back.  Now, they want your passport.  That is a very good thing.

Thank you so much for your help, much appreciated.

You want to know whether its a good sign or bad sign that they wanted a police certificate from a place where you previously lived?  It's neither.  It's a standard requirement.

No man, the CO returned the passport during the interview and asked me to post it along with the police certificate. i have some people say if the CO return your passport its not a good sign, but in my case it was posted back the same day as i got the certificate in the mail after my interview and i posted it to the embassy.

It seems like you are wanting people to tell you that you will be approved soon, but no one can really tell. Considering it is Pakistan, you should expect a long period of Administrative Processing. This can be days, weeks, months, and in some cases years.

no i just wanted to know if someone been through the same situation, you are right no one can tell. i just wanted to know if this is a good sign or bad. thank you for your help anyway.
