  1. Hello everyone,

Well I think I have good news, after a little over 5 months of wait (which I believe is short compare to most of you), we received an email saying that our card production has been order.

The only weird thing is that 2 days later we recevied the same email again, maybe I am getting two cards, who knows!!

As long as it is not a mistake and will not push everything back.

The only downside is that we are only 4 months away from our 2nd anniversary but at this point, I don;t care I am just glad to get the car

Of course with this issues of having received 2 emails, I cannot get myslef to get too excited until the card is actually in my hand. Does anyone know how long that takes in average?

I will let you know when I received it

I want to thank everyone on this forum for their support, good luck to all of you!

  2. I'd like to ask if anybody had an immigration lawyer who helped to speed up process in FBI name check??

We hired a lawyer and she told us before the interview that she was very confident our case will be fine and approved and that the worst thing that can happened to us is to be stuck in the Name Check procedure!!

Sure enough that is what happened, when I called her to let her know what happened, she said that there is nothing we can do, she did say that if we are stuck in the Name Check for a long time, then we can look at a lawsuit against the governent to move things but for now we are stcuk waiting!!!

  3. Congrats to you both!!

We also had our interview in Atlanta on July 31st, it was very fast (about 10 Minutes) and everyone was very nice and professional!!

    The buildong is fairly new!!

Unfortunately for us, we were told we were approved pending Name Check, the exact words no one want to hear but there is nothing we can do about it except for waiting!!

Again congrats and if anyone has an interview coming up in Atlanta, relax everything will be OK!!

  4. I am waiting for FBI name check 2,6 years!!,and I am so frustraited and depressed.....I don't know what to do,we talked with a congressmen and he couldn't help,i don't know if the lawyer can help or not,FBI not accepting phone calls, what should I do?Thank you for any help.

YOu been waiting for a Name CHeck for 6 years????? :(

This is very very long, as far as I can read the longest on this board!!!

    Sorry about your experience!!

  5. Well, not sure if that is good news or if it will even help any of us, but we can always hope

    From yahoo.com

Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff and Commerce Secretary Carlos Gutierrez planned to announce broad immigration changes at a news conference Friday.

Some of the initiatives are similar to proposals contained in recent immigration legislation, although they are not nearly as sweeping as the bill that failed to pass the Senate. Other measures are already under way.

An outline of the announcement, obtained by The Associated Press from a congressional aide, said the administration plans to expand the list of international gangs whose members are automatically denied admission to the U.S., reduce processing times for immigrant background checks and install by the end of the year an exit system so the departure of foreigners from the country can be recorded at airports and seaports.

See yahoo for the entire article, but we can always hope that it will help!!

  6. Another newbie question, now that we know what "touched" mean, do you actually get an email everytimes your file get touched or you find out by logging into the USCIS website???

    Thanks

no you wont get an email every time. the only time ive gotton emails is when we got approved basically. like when we got his letter in the mail for biometrics the same letter would be posted on the website. then we would go get them and the next day or two the website would read...biometrics recieved and being processed. then in a few days u would see only the date changed but it would still read the same biometrics recieved and being processed. so u could tell they did something (touch) your file but really nothing changed at all. then a few months later we would get an email saying like...ur ead has been aproved and card is ordered and then the same letter would come in the mail.

Thank you for the clarification, if you do not mind I have one more question

Is the status going to change since we technically got approved and waiting on the Name Check, as of today (on teh website), it still say : Case received and Pending.

    Is that normal?

    Thank you in advance!!

  7. Good luck, we had ours yesterday and it was painless, very fast and very easy.

make sure to have all your documents and it will be no problems, remember it is better to take more than not enough.

i had a full backpack of pictures, bank statements, insurance statements, etc, the officer really only wanted to see a bank statement and a house deed, she looks at 2 pictures and that was yet.

I also hope/Pray that you will not be in the NAME CHECK hell (like us) and that all we be clear for you

good luck and keep us posted!!!

  9. Julie

    Thanks for the message!!

Your are right, this is probably the last thread were we wanted to post, but oh well, all we can do is wait!!

I am sure you are way more frustated than us, since you have been waiting for so long, but this is 2007, one would think that the system would be better and more efficient. I almost think they should not give you a AOS interview until the FBI name check comes back, that way, you know that once you pass the interview you are done for good!! Anyhow, just my two cents, I am sure we will talk on this forum many more times!!!

  10. Hello everyone

THis is our first post on this board, but we have been reading it quite often.

Anyhow, we wanted to add our two cents.

We had our OAS interview in Atlanta this morning. The interview was fairly quick, the officer asked about 5 questions, and made copies of our house deed and bank statements and say :"you are approved", so I was getting excited then she said BUT we did not get your last background check back yet.

So of course I am thinking back of this forum and of what our lawyer told us the previous week, that is pretty much one of the worst thing that can happen since no one knows when it will arrive.

I asked her for a timeline and she said as soon as it arrive, since we are approved, they will send us the green card, but no one can know how long it will take. She did not seem too worry about it, but said that I have to wait 6 months and get an INFOPASS appointment if I want any updates, but not to do anything before 6 months as no one will have new info

So I guess the waiting game starts.

I talked to our lawyer as soon as we got home and she said the same thing, just wait, but she did say that our interview came really fast and we did not have 120 days since our biometric so just to be patient!!

So if you do not mind we will come and wait on this board with everyone else in the same situation

    Annnett and Sebastien
