  1. To all of you who replied to my post abt lost Citizenship Certification, thank you for enlightening us about passport being a valid USC proof... so...

now we are planning to not wait for the Copy of his citizenship anymore and just use the passport as proof of his USC.. In the I-129F form, Part A. number 10 or 12? "My citizenship was acquired through...." -- he will check of course PARENTS -- but there is a follow up question with that in the form under Parents, "if Yes, give certificate number"

How can he give the number? he does not have it coz he lost it right? is it ok to leave that blank?

    HELP please :crying:

thank you for your reply... No my fiance' is not applying for N-600. He is applying for a replacement for his lost naturalization certificate (N-400) ... I will tell him about you just presenting your passport. Thanks again.

hmmm.. another thing.. the immigration mentioned that before "9/11", passport as proof of citizenship is ok. Now its not anymore, you should really present the original Certificate of Naturalization. is this true?

Did he gain his citizenship through his USC parents after being born abroad or did he gain citizenship through naturalization?

I was born outside of the US, but my mom was a citizen. Before I moved here, she registered my birth and the US embassy and I got my passport. Although the form asks for a certificate of citizenship, a copy of my passport was fine. But if your fiancee was indeed naturalized instead of getting citizenship through parents as you implied, then you may need the certificate.

You are both the same. he was born in the philippines and his father is a US citizen.. so it means that he does not need the certificate right? he was not naturalized. he gained his citizenship through his USC parent after being born abroad. a-ha! you are so nice... thanks again.

this what happen to me when they asked my spouse for the certificate of citizenship. and we called and they said well if u dont have it enough clear copy of the passport, and they accept it with no problem and almost all my papers i did it with just copy of the passport :D

:innocent: i hope this will work for us too! thanks Sand!

  5. :help: Hey guys!

My fiance' is a US citizen after birth. He was born outside the United States and he is a U.S. citizen through his parents, but he lost his certificate of citizenship years ago. HE can't file the I-129F because according to USCIS he should wait for his New Naturalization Certificate (which he requested 7mos ago!)

Question is... is his passport not valid as proof of his citizenship? can he already file the I-129F even without the certificate, just a passport? Our I-129F is on hold because of this. We are still waiting for his certificate replacement. USCIS site states that N-400 takes 6-9mos of processing. but thats for those who are applying for naturalization. my fiance is just asking for a COPY bec he lost the original. does anyone know why the copy is taking this long?

    :crying:

On the USCIS website, you can find the instructions for completing the I-129F: http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/I-129Finstr.pdf.

    D. In place of any of the above, you may give USCIS a copy of your valid, unexpired U.S. passport issued with a validity period of at least five years. You must submit copies of all pages in the passport.

Good luck to you both

    thank you... highly appreciated.

but... the immigration officer tells us to wait for the certificate copy. should we believe him?

  9. :help: Hi Guys...

My fiance' in Seattle filed our K1 February 1, 2007, send it to Nebraska. The only notice (emailed and mailed) we have is the Notice that they received the papers and it is filed for processing.

UNTIL NOW, AUGUST tomorrow (6months in counting) NOTHING happened. My fiance' calls them everyday for updates. Same answers: "your case is on process", "we are back log", "check your status online", "oh its been so long, its suspecious", blah blah blah. Would you believe until now we dont have any decision from them! if were APPROVED or DENIED. NO UPDATES for 6months!!!

So, 1 particular USCIS call center agent said that since Nebraska is backlogged, they are outsourcing the petitions to other service centers and field offices. Is that true? And last June (end of June), they transferred our K1 papers back to Seattle! according to them, its faster there. Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaat???! It just went back to Seattle after 6months!

From that day of transfer, again, upto NOW... NO UPDATES! why is this happening? we don't know what to do anymore...

Anyone? please... help. i think i will need anti-depression pills sooner or later. :crying:
