Hello Everyone,
My spouse came to the United States on K-1 visa and he received EAD card in the mail the end of September. We are still waiting for his social security card to come home so he can start working. It has been about 5 weeks and we have no received anything in the mail for him. I called USCIS and they gave me a number to contact my local SSA office. When I called SSA, they were unable to track his information/ mentioned that there are no records on file for him. I have checked online and many people say that they been through the same problem but still received their SSN in the mail in 4-6 weeks. At this point, I am just nervous and scared. I do not know what is the best thing for me to do! Is there any possible ways to track ssn better or if anyone has experienced the same thing? Please share your experience so my heart can be at ease because it is during Covid right now and no office is open for in person appointments. I have been on hold and hung up numerous times and I honestly do not know what to do! Please help!
