I'm in a similar position.  I'm a professor at a university here in the U.S., so I won't need the renewal until mid-late August, but our original Feb. filing was rejected (old form; March one accepted), so it's going to be cutting it very tight.  The flipside for me is that I can't start teaching mid-semester, so it could put me out of work either until January (or, very possibly, entirely).

I'm sure USCIS has its reasons for why the auto-extension doesn't apply to changes in filing category (to my knowledge, the AOS I-765 is filed as a "new application" anyway, not a renewal).

Hoping they'll maybe relax the guidelines on that too, but not holding out much hope (plus we need to get biometrics done).

If it helps, I'm planning to talk to an employment lawyer at some point soon to see if there's a workaround.  I mean, I doubt it, but I'll keep you updated.

I'm in a similar position as well. Were you able to talk to an employment lawyer?

    Hi All,

I kindly invite your insights/inputs on the following.

Today I received a letter from USCIS stating that "USCIS is able to reuse your previously captured fingerprints and other biometrics".

USCIS will run the same security checks and use your biometric data as in the past, however, it is not necessary for you to appear at a USCIS Application Support Center (ASC) for a biometrics appointment. The biometrics fee will not be refunded".

    Is this normal?

Also the service center is listed as "NBC". What is the relevance of this?

    Thank You.

How long did you get this notice after receiving your NOA1?

This feels like an absolute miracle but my EAD/AP was approved 2 weeks ago without my biometrics appt!! Our lawyer said she has one other case in her office that has experienced the same luck.

The only thing is I received the official approval notice 10 days ago, when I check the status of my EAD it is still saying Approved. It hasn't moved to printing or sending of the card. I'm getting quite nervous as I believe this is an unconventional situation and I'm unsure if USCIS will be following the same case updates as they normally do? Everyone I've spoken to said it's taken 2 weeks from date of approval to receiving the physical card and mine just appears stuck on approved? Has anyone else experienced delays with their EAD? Is there anyone I can call and speak to?

How long did this happen after receiving you NOA1?

  4. Hey guys! It's my first time posting. I got married in LA and it's taking them a long time to produce a marriage certificate. I'm running out of time and my EAD expires at the end of Jan2021. My plan is to apply for green card with EAD. Right now, I was told that it would be slower because of COVID-19 and the election. Should I send my application with a customer's copy marriage license or wait for the certificate? If I submit my application now with a customer's copy marriage license and possible get a RFE or a denied case. If I get the RFE, does it extend the processing period?
