  1. I was not sure where to put this post, so hopefully I am in the right neighborhood. My Fiancé just arrived here on Christmas day, and we are planning on getting married tomorrow. I just want to make sure we are pointed in the right direction before we go any further. Here are a few questions I have:

Are we supposed to apply for her Social Security Card Before or After we get married?

Is there anything else that needs to happen or is there anything else we are supposed to do before we get married?

Do we file for AOS immediately after we get married, or do we just have to make sure we file for it before the K-1 would have expired?

When is the right time to apply for EAD and Advance Parole? (I am active Duty Military and we will be leaving for Guam in May)

Any help you may be able to provide will be greatly appreciated.

  2. Actually we have a tone of plans!!! LOL!!! We are going to get married once, just so that we can apply for AOS, Permission to Travel Outside the US (I have military Orders to relocate), and her work permit. Then we are going to get married in Maine with my family. After that we are going to Ecuador to have a ceremony with her family. The Ceremony in Ecuador will probably be around this time next year, as we are short on time with my military relocation. Not to mention we would both like to be there during Quito’s Anniversary Celebration. THAT is a HUGE celebration, and all of her family will be together.

We have a whole new reason to count the days before Christmas! A little less than 8 days now....

  3. Sorry I have been away for so long. As I am sure you all know, life has been very busy thus far. Well, Belen had her interview today, and she has been APPROVED FOR HER VISA!!!! I posted a full review for the Consulate Section in Guayaquil, and we hope it helps others. Now we have to wait 4-5 days for DHL to deliver the Visa to Belen. The DHL office said it would be more like 2 days, but they tell everyone 4-5 days just in case... Anyway, Belen will be here on Christmas Day!!! I couldn’t have asked for a better Christmas present!!! I must not have shown up on the naughty list this year. LOL!!!! I hope all is well with everyone, and that you all receive some news very soon.

    Take Care,

    Jason & Belen

  5. 1st off. CONGRATS on the MANY, MANY APROVALS!!!

I think I might be able to help a little with the "What's Next" questions. After you have received notification of an Approved NOA2 then the USCIS website is indeed useless. Now you have to call the NVC to check on the status. Now, let me explain a couple of things. The NVC is located in New Hampshire which is just down the road from Vermont, so for all of you who applied to the VSC then your petition should get to the NVC fairly quickly. From What I Understand, the CSC saves the petitions up in bulk and then sends them to the NVC.

In our case, the petition was at the NVC for something like 5 days before it was forwarded on to the Embassy. While the Petition is at the NVC it will be reassigned a new tracking number. Please do not be concerned though. You can still track your case with the NVC by the Case number from your NOA1/NOA2. The people at NVC were much more helpful than USCIS.

In our case, we were able to check the Embassy received date by checking out the Website for the Consulate Section in Guayaquil Ecuador.

Once the case was received at Guayaquil they sent the packet 4 out to Belen. When Belen received the packet, she had nearly everything taken care of with the exception of the medical exam. Just so you know, most of the Consulate Sections have Sample Packet 4s, so that you and your fiancé can prepare yourselves in advance. Once Belen completed the requirements for her Packet 4 she called and scheduled an interview with the Consulate Section at the Embassy.

Here is the number to the NVC: (603) 334-0700(Open until Midnight)

As a side note: We received confirmation today that Belen's interview date has in fact been moved from the 23rd on January to the 17th of December. That makes me... A very, very fortunate and Happy man!!!

Take Care and I hope this helps...

Thanks alot for writing this and taking time to do it. Our petition should be sent to NVC very soon. we were approved yesterday. I'd really like to track it's movement to NVC and onto the embassy in Moscow. Does NVC have its own website? When should I try calling NVC to find out if/when they received it?? Thanks.

NVC Does have a website, but I am not sure if you can track your status on there or not. Trust me you are just as well off calling the number I provided. The people at NVC are incredibly nice and helpful. We filed through the VSC just like you. I called the NVC only a couple of days after I knew our NOA2 had been approved. The people at NVC were not bothered by this at all.

It wouldn't hurt to give them a call tomorrow. The NVC will be able to tell you when the Petition arrived and when it left. From what I understand, an electronic version is sent out as well as the hard copy. More likely than not, you will have to wait a week or so for your petition to arrive at the Embassy in Moscow. Have you checked to see whether or not the Consulate Section in Moscow has a website or how helpful it is? I have to tell you, I have been extremely impressed with the Consulate Section in Ecuador. Hopefully the Consulate in Moscow is just as helpful.

    Best of luck neighbor...

  7. CONGRATS on the approvals! It is a great feeling and a tremendous relief. Now the process really starts to speed up (with any luck at all).

Another quick update... I received an e-mail from the Consular today. It doesn't appear that it will be a problem to have Belen's moved up to a date between the 17th and 21st f December, as long as it is for military reasons and she has all of her papers ready as well. She has been ready and waiting for a long time. She just finished her medical exam today. Anyway, the Consular said they would check with the interview scheduler to see what dates and times they could make available for the timeframe we have requested. I have to give the Consulate section a lot of credit. They have been very willing to work with us to try and help in anyway that they can.

I hope everyone else's petitions go just as smoothly!

  8. Just a quick update on our status... The Consulate at Guayaquil received our application on 12 November, and sent out the Packet 4 to Belen. Belen received the packet yesterday, and scheduled her interview today. She has a tentative interview set for the 23rd of January. The reason this date is tentative is because we requested an expedite on her interview due to military reasons. We requested a date between 17 and 21 December, as this is the very soonest we know they will be able to accommodate us. Anyway, hopefully we find out if our military expedite for an interview is approved by the end of the week. We are keeping our fingers crossed.

Best of luck to everyone. Once our package made it thru USCIS, the whole processed went a whole lot faster.

  9. I posted this in the June-July NOA2 to NVC thread, but I thought it might be useful here as well.

FYI... When I called the NVC [(603)-334-0700] yesterday to check on the status of our package they gave me a number [(202)-663-1225] to call to track the Embassy arrival date of our package. Well, I tried to call this number when I got off from work and I got the postal section. I then called the NVC to ensure I had the number right, and I did in fact have the correct number. However, the hours of operation are not what I was told yesterday. The hours of operation are 8:30 am - 5:00 pm (EST) M-F.

    Short and long of it:

Call (202)-663-1225 for Visa Application Arrival status at the Embassy

Be sure you call between 8:30 am and 5:00 pm (EST) Monday through Friday, (if not you'll reach "Carl" in the mail room, and he can't help you)

    I hope this helps...

  12. Things are definitely moving now!! I called the NVC to find out what the status of our application is. Well, they received the application on 1 Nov, and it was mailed off to the Consulate's office today. Now that is fast! Considering I just received the NOA2 card copy today. Now, let's hope that we get an interview date very soon. Please wish us luck and keep us in your prayers. We hope that everyone receives word on their NOA2's very soon. We are prayer for a "Fire Hose" effect of approvals for everyone!!!

  13. 1st, I want to humbly apologize to everyone who read my post and thought that I was only wishing July Posters well. THIS IS NOT the case. I simply copied and pasted my post from the July Filer's Thread to this one. I simply forgot to edit it. I am sincerely hoping and praying for each and everyone to get their approvals soon. I am also hoping that the "backlog" will clear soon, and VSC will get back to processing Visas as fast as they once were.

2nd, Thank You to everyone who has helped and supported us thus far. It is comforting to know that there are others going through the same trials as Belen and I. I also want to say thank you for all of the congratulations. It feels really good to get each and every one of them.

Lastly, for those of you who thanked me for serving my country. It is truly appreciated, and I am humbled by your support. I mean this from my heart of hearts. The reason I lace ‘em up and do what I do is because of the support that I have from people like you and the guy standing next to me. I keep in mind that it is your brother, sister, son or daughter who is standing next me. I will not fail them and I will not fail you. Trust me on that! You may not think you can trust the government on much, but please know you can trust military to be there when we are called to duty. We owe you that much!!! Thank You all once again.

    Jason and Belen

  16. Well, I definitely have my fingers crossed now. I am an active duty military member, and I just found out last week that I am going to be getting an assignment in the very near future. I could be out of here as soon as May. Now, I know that sounds like a long ways off, but it really isn't. Especially since I am going to an overseas location. Anyway, I sent off a request to have our Visa application expedited for military reason. I included ALL of the information that I received regarding my immanent assignment, a copy of my NOA1, letters from myself and my Commanding Officer. Hopefully this will be enough to persuade the Vermont Service Center to expedite our case. If not, I will truly be at a loss, as I really do not believe we will be able to get everything "squared away" before I will have to be at my next duty location. I sent the package off on Tuesday and the Vermont Service Center received it yesterday. Hopefully we will hear something soon. Wish us luck, please. I'll keep you all posted on our results.

  18. Hello All!!! I haven't been on here in awhile, so I wanted to jump on here and check in on everyone. I have been following this thread as well as many others, but I just haven't replied to any of them. Anyway, it looks like some of the service centers are actually processing again, so let's hope our dates don't slip any further back than they already have. At any rate, best of luck to everyone. All is well with Belen and I. We are just trying to be patient and hopeful at the same time. No an easy task as you all know very well.

    Take Care,

    Jason

  19. I want to ask the same thing!

I logged into my account today, and yesterday...

The NOA1 said it was generated on the 23rd.

But the website has said my case was last updated yesterday, and today!

Is someone actually touching it? Is this good or bad? o_O

    thejoz,

Our cases must be right side by side or one on top of the other. LOL!!! Well, My NOA1 was generated on the 23rd as well. My case was "touched" on the same dates as well. I did a little research and found that the Service Center's do have people who work on weekends. Therefore it is possible that we did indeed have a touch today. I wouldn't read into whether it is good or bad. The case worker is the only one who really knows. Really, only time will tell. However, I will say that it is good to know that our cases are being looked at and not sitting on a shelf, desk or lost in routing. I'm just pleased to know that it's being worked... Good Luck... I'll keep you posted on any changes/updates on this end.

  20. Does VSC work weekends or something? I logged into the UCIS website to show a friend of mine how I track the status of me and Belen's case. His is about to embark on this same journey, as his Fiancée is from Germany. Anyway, when I logged in the "Last Updated" section reflects today's date. I am a little confused by this because I was under the impression that they (VSC) didn't work on weekends or holidays. This is not the first time I have heard of something like this happening, but I don't remember exactly what the explanation was. Does anyone have any ideas? Is it possible that our case was actually looked at today? If so, 2 touches in 2 days could be good news... or it could be bad news. They (VSC) are the only ones who really know. Fingers crossed on this end...

  21. that is definitely a touch my friend...as for the emails, im not sure...i havent recieved any emails, but my only touch was when my check was cashed...so i couldnt really say =/

Thanks for the info! Wow, I am really happy that we have received our 1st touch soon. I never thought I woould see the day when I would look so forward to getting "Touched" by the government. LOL!!!

Good luck to you, and I hope you get "Touched" again real soon...
