Hi:
My son (from Canada) is currently in the Phillipines with his Filipino girlfriend (she was born in the Phillipines, but moved to Canada just before high school).
He is diabetic, and of course, as a typical mother, I am very worried about him when he travels (he's 24, and I know I shouldn't). If he were to have any diabetic problems, would he readily get medical help if needed. He took his syringes and insulin with him, but let's say he lost them..... would he be able to get insulin and syringes without too much difficulty?
Also, does the Phillipines have trouble with their drinking water (kind of like Mexico where you get the runs if you drink the water)? I'm not by any means a world traveller, so I am not familiar with these things.
He is on one of the Islands right now, and is flying to Manila in 3 hours where his girlfriend's family lives. He is having a wonderful time so far, loves the food, and says it is VERY hot there right now. I am so looking forward to seeing his pictures and hearing all about the trip when he gets back.
I'm pretty sure he'll marry this girl one day and we look so forward to having her in our family
.
Thanks for any "comfort" you can provide me.
Signed,
Worry-Wart Mom
Worry wart,
Your son should be fine. If he lost his insuin there are hospitals in the philippines that i am sure can help him. You did not say if he was in the city or in the province, the only problem with the province that i can see is that he may have to travel a bit to get to a hospital.
Do Not Drink the tap water there, only the bottled water from a store. Also be careful of the ice in drinks, this may be tap water also. If your son uses common sense, like a salad that has been washed in water should not be eaten unless you are sure it is not tap water, he will be fine. I have visited the Philippines 3 times now and have not had any problems.

Quick question:
I filed for an extension for taxes for 2006 and have not filed taxes yet. I have until Sept 15 to do this. I am ready to do the I-864 now. Can I file the I-864 using my 2005 taxes? I think that I read that they base approval on the last year filed, and technically I am not obligate to file for 2006 unitl sept 15. Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated

will fedex deliver to the provinces? i'll have to send mine about 2hrs north of cebu city, and i hate usps tracking (it leaves a lot to be desired)
I have always used dhl for my packages to cebu. they are reliable and easy to track. Never had a problem with them.

Just received email response from NVC for agent of choice. NVC used my wifes maiden name as the benificiary instead of her married name. Is this going to be a problem?
You have to consider the names she used for her passport, on the INS application itself, visa that will be issued to her, and also the green card that would appear once approved.
The original I-130 was submitted and approved in her maiden name. NVC case # also has her maiden name. When we sent the choice of agent we used married name with maiden name in parenthesis ( ). She signed document with her married name. Maybe I should call NVC and see what they have to say?
By the way, thanks for the quick response. I appreciate it. I grew up in NY (Long Island) and still have family there. Maybe when this is all said and done we can keep in touch.

Just wanted to share, I finially got my Affadavit of Support Fee Bill Today. It has been a very long process for me. I originally filed for I-130 in August of 2006. Is that light at the end of the tunell? Or is it a freight train coming right at me

Just wanted to share, I received my Affadavit of support Bill Today! After a long and arduous journey (almost 1 year from sending I-130 to VSC) we are finially getting somewhere!

Well, I guess you can put me on the list too...My I-130 was approved first and not sure which path I will choose (K-3 or CR-1).. Really confused and frustrated.. Lots of other people having both of their petitions approved on the same day..Only one of mine was approved..Also, it's been since July 12 and my case hasn't been received at NVC. I check every day..Frustrated there too, since I notice a lot of others are at NVC before me or in less time...
I-130 Timeline:
4/03/07...mailed I-130 to TSC
4/21/07...I-797C NOA received
4/24/07...Check cashed
7/12/07...Received email saying "I-130 Approved" (100 days)
I-129F Timeline:
4/23/07...mailed I-129F to Chicago
5/01/07...received NOA1 (dated 4/27/07)
5/03/07...touched
5/11/07...transferred to CSC
5/16/07...Received NOA1
6/04/07...touched (email saying Case is now pending)
6/05/07...touched
6/06/07...touched
Michael, count your blessings. I sent my I-130 in Aug of 2006. Just got a NVC Case # in July of 07. Consider the monetary ramifications if you continue with the fiance visa. $1,100 for adjustment of status if you go this way. If you use the I-130 only then your wife can come in and get an automatic 2 year green card. Just food for thought

Barcode not necessary if you are emailing them. Just make sure on the subject line, you have your case #.
Thanks for the quick response. I will have my wife email it today with the case # in the sublect line.

The quickest way was to have the beneficiary e-mail the NVC but it has not been the case lately. It used to take about 5 days for them to respond and now it's more than 4 weeks.
What you can do is follow James' shortcuts in the National Visa Center forum, have your wife generate the form and mail it to the NVC. Unless you want to use the -mail route and wait for them to reply.
Diana
I guess my question is if I have my wife email it right away, there will not be a bar code on the paperwork. Will this make any difference?
Thanks,
Tom

Please help, my wife is in the Philippines, NVC says that they have sent out the ds3032 as of this week. I generated the form and sent it via email tomy wife, she filled it out and sent back to me. My question is what about the barcode? Can I foward her email to NVC? WHat is the best and quickest way to get this done.

If you can believe this, I filed my I-130 in August of 2006 at the Vermont Service Center, first NOA was August 23. THen nothing until May of 07 saying that my case had been transferred to CSC. June 20 07 i receved approval, then sent to NVC. Case # from NVC in July, now waiting on DS-3032 and I-864 bill. Looks like it will be way over a (start to finish) before my wife gets her interview in Manila. I think that VSC just did nothing until they transferred case to CSC

First time posting, couple of questions:
I emailed my wife the ds-3032, she filled it out and emailed back to me. Can I foward this to NVC? Do I need the barcode to email this?
Any help would be appreciated.

HELP: How do I know when AOS Fee Bill & DS-3032 is generated
in IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures

I just heard on NVC message that my IV bill will be sent out in a couple of weeks, should I expect it next week? I have sent out the aos fee bill and they received it, however I have not received my instructions for my i-864 yet. Is this normal?
