Good luck, I hope you have a great flight! Thanks for the heads up. Tbh it wasn't really smart thinking to do T5 on my part, It was just closer to the hotel I'm staying in the night before! Maybe I got inadvertently lucky there... We're in a local hotel Sunday and will make our way to T5 and get the test done the evening before, then following day we can just go get our flight (assuming we test negative!).

I've Emailed the testing company at Heathrow as we originally booked a LAMP test, but need to change that to an Antigen. Were you able just to change it at the appointment then?

    Safe travels!

How did your test at T5 go? Did you have any issues at arrival in the US? We set up for testing Monday at T5 at noon, and are departing Tuesday at 9am. Booked online for the rapid antigen test.

  2. My husband's UK passport was going to expire in January, so we renewed it. This makes his ESTA no longer valid. Due to the backlog it looks like we will be waiting a while for his interview. We were DQ Aug 11. Since London has moved up to tier 2 they may end up going to tier 3 which could possibly delay us further. We were thinking it would be nice if he could come here for a month (holidays) while we wait. Is it possible for him to reapply for his ESTA? I know the application asks if you are trying to immigrate, but he'd be coming back after a few weeks for his medical and interview (whenever that is) so not trying to immigrate on his stay. Thoughts, or other options?

This mainly applies to expedited and DCF cases although most of the recent interviews have appeared to be booked by the petitioner. Not sure if that has changed. It would be good if a non-expedited and DCF case could chip in to be sure. I'm guessing a lot of things have changed due to the pandemic.

Oh I was wondering about regular NVC cases. We are not DCF or expedited.

Just keep checking routinely. I work day/night shifts, and would constantly check, even when I woke up randomly and happened to find interview slots open up on 3pm on a weekday. It was random. Doubt there is an option for the embassy to book you in a slot as I have not seen this happening.

I thought the NVC assigns you an appointment date. Is that not how it works?

NVC notified me of being documentarily qualified around 10 days ago – I’m just trying to gauge how long it’s currently taking to receive an interview date after this? There only seems to be wait times for non-immigrant visas on the embassy website.

Interview anecdotes and stories also welcome!

We were DQ August 11 and are waiting to get an interview. I've seen speculation that they are on June DQs now. : /
