  1. We're currently part way through the K1 visa process, i've received my first packet from the London Embassy.

However, circumstances have changed slightly since our application and i may not be able to move to the US quite as soon as we'd hoped. In the K1 visa timeline it says that its 'normally' expected that you use the K1 visa within 6 months of issue. How firm is this and can you negotiate this with the embassy/nvc etc so that it can be extended? We're not talking by long, maybe 6-9 months from issue?

    Thanks

  2. Thanks for that Rebeccajo, thats pretty much what i thought myself. I'll get her to send a letter then.

Cecile and Bryan, I have always thought that you should be honest with Immigration as to the purpose of your visit and i would just take as much evidence as possible with me to prove my intention to return to the UK, such as Letter from employer, lease for my apartment, enrolement in a university course i will be doing at the time etc.

Are you saying that if i say i am getting married and have evidence of my intention to leave afterwards they may rufuse me entry simply for using the W word?

  3. Here’s the situation…

Last July when we started our application for a K1 visa we had planned to get married in US and then for me to live there. However since filing our application, our situation and plans have changed and after the wedding in November this year my fiancée will be moving to the UK to live with me.

My question is this. What do we need to do to notify the USCIS that our situation has changed and that we no longer require the K1? And would this affect us in the future when we apply for a K3 in a few years or so? I would hope not as I expect this thing isn’t too uncommon?

Also, in November when I travel to the US for the wedding will I need to make any special arrangements? I will be visiting for approx 3 weeks, getting married and then returning to the UK where my fiancée will then join me shortly after.

    Thanks,

    Michael

  4. Hello all,

I have a question regarding the I-134. We've submitted our I-129F and i'm looking at the forms and evidence we'll be required to submit in the future. Our situation is this, my fiancee who is the US Citizen is currently 'between jobs' however she is waiting for an interview date for a job with the government (but we all know how slow they can be don't we ;) ), i've been looking at the I-134 and am concerned that she wont be able to show that she will be able to support us (although i do plan to get a job as soon as is possible once i arrive in the US, and should be arriving with money to help support myself in the short term).

I suppose my question is this, at what point is the I-134 required to be filed? As she may well have had the interview and started work by then. And would she be required to provide a number of payslips, or would the first one that she recieves be enough?

    Thanks in advance,

    Michael
