  1. Hello all....hope someone can assist with my query....awhile ago I went to apply or my SSN and when I was there and provided the clerk with my Visa, Passport and I-94 he said that he couldn't process my application for my SSN due to the fact that my I-94 was missing one digit from the pre-printed digits found at the top....I have ten numbers, not eleven.

Well my husband and I thought this guy just didn't know what he was doing and opted out to go to another office and apply (which we still have yet to do btw.....)

By chance tonight I started filling out the AOS paperwork and while doing research I stumbled across some examples of other I-94's and they all have eleven pre-printed digits found at the top.....

DO I have an issue? If I do who in the hell do I begin calling to get this issue corrected???

    Thanks for the help. :bonk:

  2. erm...here I am......had a great 24hr whirlwind trip to Montreal. March 11th - arrived and stayed at the Days Inn ($105) which was a 10min walk from the consulate...thumbs up! March 12th - woke-up or got out of the bed as not too much sleeping happened and made my was down the street arriving at about 7:10am.....there were already about four couples in line and more lined up behind me. Everything else went down just like I have read here on VJ.....all the staff were friendly and patient. I provided the lady at wicket 11 with my BC, Police check, Affidavit of support, passport, pictures, express post envelope and one other supplemental sheet who's name I can't remember. I then went to the cashier wicket and paid my $131 then returned to wicket 11 for finger printing. Finally, I was called to Room 8 to meet with a very nice man for about 6 mins and was approved by 10:20am. I did not have to provide any further proof of relationship documents at all.

Shout out to some peeps during the wait that I had the chance to meet and chat with - Adam (GF Jen from Brooklyn), another couple - he from Michigan she from Ontario and another couple - she from Chicago and he from Kitchener........

March 14th Canada Post delivers package in the AM........

Now what?????? More research!!!!! I will be heading to California on April 02 - getting married in Vegas on April 26........next thing to research in the AOS - just found out it will cost $1010...gulp.....and need to research advance parole as I have a father who's health is failing and I may need to come back to Canada on short notice.....

Thank god for VJ. ..what a help it has been!!!!!!!!

  4. Hey All,

I am getting ready to pack up my personal items for shipment to California next week. I have purged my possessions down to CD's, books, clothes and other odds and sods. The boxes will addressed to my sweetie TJ and shipped via UPS.

Will he have to pay duty on my used stuff?? How can I get around this or come out with the least minimal fee....what forms do I need to fill out??

Anybody have some info for me??

    Thanks bunches.

    Christine

  5. update....well, I have emailed Montreal twice since posting this topic and no bloody response.....I included "address change" in the subject line..........these guys are starting to get on my nerves.....I figure they can't be THAT over worked, or are they?????

I am moving to Regina at the end of the month anyway to wait for my interview....mail will be forwarded through Canada Post regardless.

    :(

  6. that's right Scott!!! you should have mailed ALL the forms and the checklist at the same time......I mailed packet three back the very next day and since then have easily collected all the pieces needed for the interview. It will be at least 6-8 weeks if not more :crying: before an interview date and that gives one plenty of time to get all the checklist items while you are queuing for an interview date!!! so you will only begin the interview queue once they received your checklist.

    sorry

  7. thanks for your replies.....they are appreciated.....I am going to email Montreal and explain my situation and seek their advice. I know that Vancouver seems to be much quicker with interviews however I don't want transferring my file to slow down the process. Pick up the next day in Vancouver would really be the best for me though.......

    Thanks,

  8. Hi All,

I hope I can make myself clear while I explain my situation. Packet 3 has been mailed back as of Dec 13th and I am waiting for an interview in MTL. I will be done my job at the end of the month and be moving out of my apartment in Toronto. While waiting for my interview date (if it didn't happen before Feb. 01  ) I will be taking my two cats and flying to my families home in Regina, Sask because my brother will foster my cats and I will be spending time with my ill father, visiting etc.... My questions are the following....

    1. While waiting for my letter, should I and how would I change my mailing address to a Regina address with the Montreal Consulate or should I just use the Canada Post change of address service where they forward the mail from your old address to your new one and not notify Montreal?

    2. Do you think the Montreal Consulate will care if I change my address to a Regina address?

    3. On the day of my interview, upon approval of my Visa, it is my understanding that Montreal mails out the Visa in 2-7 business days.....would they let me pick it up in person the next day? I don't wanna have to fly back to Regina to get the mail just to turn around and get back on a plane to Los Angeles. I need to be able to fly out of Montreal direct to LA.....

    Thoughts?????

    Thanks for your advice.

  9. So, as of a few minutes ago, I was performing the same almost ritualistic task that I have doing now for days and days and days, it seems.........

After I come home from work, I get changed and make a tea, sit at my computer and log into the USCIS website with my WAC number...... and the message on the screen has always been the same......."on July 02 a notice was sent to you, we have received your file for blah-blah-blah case pending blah- blah........... this message depending on the day could make me mad, make me cry, or both!!!!!! It was making me CRAZY......taunting me like a pulsing heart......and the message NEVER changed!!!!!!!

Until today.......I almost dropped my mug......

    Current Status: Approval notice sent.

On November 2, 2007, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E). Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service.

    WOOT_WOOT!!! Bring it ON!!!

    Good Luck to everybody!!!!!

    Christine
