    Hello!

My fiancee and I are preparing for her visa interview. I'm planning on flying to her country and be there while she has her interview, and then fly back together once she has her visa. We're looking at plane tickets now.

Our preferred airline and flight has a layover of just over an hour at the airport connecting to the US (at LAX). That's a pretty quick layover time and I'm worried about our bags getting delayed, and if that'll complicate/disrupt anything when passing through CBP or passport control.

Without the backstory, my question is: if our bags are delayed while passing through CBP, what could happen?

Also, I'm not sure if this is the correct place to ask this. I didn't find any forum about entering the country.

    Thanks! :D

Why are you so certain she will get the visa immediately? What if she is placed under administrative processing for weeks months or years?

  2. My husband had his CR1 interview August 12 and was put under Administrative Processing, my heart tells me this will be a long wait my father in law is advising me to contact my Senator for help since there are elections going on now and they need those votes from citizens they will gladly help now, but my niece who works for the department of state and who personally met my local Representative says otherwise to wait until after the elections since its chaos right now and their focus is on other issues either way she knows people in both office she can speed up my request. I know i get one shot with the help of a congress man but i want to know when should i get them involved? Is it too soon? Before or after elections? Does a senator have more seniority than a representative?

Yes Turkey seems like the best option, since Sarajevo has flights to Istanbul and then I can catch the connection there.

I have an interview next Monday and if visa gets approved planning to travel right after that. So just trying to plan the things ahead and I don’t think it’s a bad idea to hear other people’s experiences!

Dont get so excited too fast and start looking for tickets hope you dont be placed under administrative processing at the interview. Just wait and see then you can plan your future. They arent giving visas that easily now.

What I would love to know, is how did your mother in law get an approved tourist visa?! My mil has tried to go to London previously and was denied so she hasn't even tried the US due to the fact that she is retired, we assume they think she will overstay her visa? Would love for her to meet her grandson and stay in our home so we don't have to purchase 4 airline tickets from US to Jordan!

She had that 4 years ago approved since the early 90’s they get visas good for 5 years. She has one year left on hers now

Still no reply as of September 1st status is still Refused because he is under administrative processing. It seems like they are giving this sheet out to all now before elections 🤔. How did the interview go what questions were asked how long did it take?

Did they keep his passport? For my husband he sent his in along with the answers but last week they sent passport back telling him they will let him know if they need it later.

We had our interview and we also received this paper. I think we will just type up on a page. How long did it take for the embassy to reply to you after submitting this?

    Hello All!

I wanted to update on my situation for my Expedited CR-1 Visa and clear up some nerves that I have about our situation.

My husband went to his interview September 1st at the USA Embassy in Bogota, Colombia.  I was, unfortunately, unable to attend because travel from USA to Colombia is still on hold.

The process took many hours of the day from around 12PM-5PM.  The official who interviewed him was a young man (we believe he was a new employee, unsure), north american, and there was a woman (who we believe was his supervisor)  telling him what to ask my husband in Spanish. They asked him a lot of questions regarding our relationship, and all seemingly went well.  He provided all financial proof, which is very solid, and many photographs of our relationship.

My husband was denied 2 tourist visas previously due to lack of knowledge regarding the visas. 1 he had applied to before he had met me and he was with his ex-girlfriend at the time, and the other he applied to 6 months into our relationship.

The part that is a bit confusing now is that they asked him about the 1st tourist visa denial, where and with WHOM he was living with when he met me in March of last year. I was aware that he was living with his ex-girlfriend and transitioning out of their apartment together, and apparently the official knew about this too! The official actually mentioned his ex-girlfriend's name and the family that he lived with!

This was a shock to me... I am really unsure if they did a background check on where he lived, because honestly it was quite random. Perhaps it raised some suspicions because they kept asking about that topic.

Then, the Officer asked to take a look at his cell phone and he went through all the chats and pictures of every person.  He asked who EVERY SINGLE PERSON was in his chats!!! Everything seemed to be fine and clear, according to my husband, the official said to the supervisor "I see no signs of any woman. This relationship looks legitimate, everything is normal" to his supervisor.  Thank God my husband and I never delete our conversations or anything like that and we are in constant communication through chats, voice messages, photos, videos, etc.. The officer proceeded to take his cellphone to where the supervisor was and they kept looking through his cellphone, and investigated it for about 20 more minutes.

After the interview was over, the officer was smiling and laughing and said to my husband "Look, I would really like to approve your visa right now, but we have to do something with the US government, and now we have to wait for the next step. You will receive an email in a few days about the next step."

My husband was quite shocked because they said no documents were missing and they didn't say WHAT the problem was. They kept ALL of our documents and took his passport, which I'm hoping is a positive sign?? I'm very confused about all of this. I thought the visa interview would have gone smoothly, and I wish I could have been present to speak to the official in English about the doubts they had, because it seems some things were getting lost in translation. 😣 Our marriage is solid and we had all the evidence that they asked of us, so I'm torn up about what happened, but trying to stay optimistic.

So, I guess we are under AP according to our status:

I understand that there is still hope with Administrative Processing and it could take a few days, weeks, months or even years to get the visa issued... or am I wrong here? From what I have seen, others have had similar experiences with this.  Hearing your perspectives would be so helpful! VJ has been a huge help to me during this process.

    Thank you so much!

I am on the same boat as you my husband had his cr1 visa on 8-12 and was put under AP as of 9-1 so it’s a waiting game of patience, i pray it doesnt drag as much as I’ve read others has 😭. My husband also filed for a tourist visa before our marriage and was denied then i flew to his country to marry a month later, in their eyes that seems suspicious too, for us it was a cultural thing that he had to come marry me not vice versa but unfortunately he was denied so we had no other way but for me to visit him.

Hello, my husband has his cr-1 interview in about two weeks at the Amman, Jordan Embassy. We have the original non-conviction paper that we uploaded to the NVC website in may. For the visa interview, they request a non-conviction report as well. My question is, should we obtain a new certificate or will the one that was uploaded in may to the NVC website be accepted at the interview? The reason I ask is that this paper might take a while to obtain.

Hi, my husband is also in Amman and we uploaded his non convection in February, he had his interview on 8-12, however he got a new one printed because its only good for 6 months. Its best to have them new, the paper usually comes out in a few days you can order it online and the fee online too I believe its 6 dinars. Make sure you have copies in arabic and english submitted a week before the interview date. Good luck

  10. So my husband in Jordan is currently under administration processing for his Cr1 visa, is case last updated a good sign? Does it mean its being worked on? Also during the interview in Amman Jordan the consular gave a list of 10 questions to answer which we did type it on Microsoft word format which came out to be 3 pages long i emailed and he also sent it in by mail along with his passport. I have been searching about for Ds5535 which is very similar to the list of 10 questions, however i followed the rules exactly how they wanted it typed for example... on ds5535 it says to add places visited length of stay source of funds also under family it says add children. BUT on the list from the embassy given it clearly says how to type your answer for the travel question is as follows: May 2001-June 2001 traveled to Egypt as a Tourist.. not as detailed as ds5535. Also for family member on list it doesn't say to add children just mom, dad, siblings, and prior spouses. My question is... was i right in following the embassy’s guide of format or should i have sent it the ds5535 even though they didn't ask for that but they are both so similar???
