  1. thanks everyone for your wishes.

my wife said, the CO was very polite. The questions were simple and straightforward. She was asked quite a bit about her education background and job status. aside from that all went smoothly.

Just want to say thank you to everyone on this board who has helped me and my family during the past 1 year with this whole process. The overall process was very intensive. I wish all of you well. Please, if there is anything I can do to help, please let me know. I will post more details about the interview as soon as I get a chance.

  4. What are the different types of "I-864" Forms available?

    I-864, I-864W, I-864EZ and I-864A

Basically, when applying for Financial Affidavit, you can use ONE of the following forms below IF you meet the form requirements:

I-864 is needed if you are proving your eligibility to support your wife using your asset (Land value, Bank balance, stock value, etc)

I-864-A: Form I-864A may only be used when a sponsor's income AND assets do not meet the income requirements of Form I-864 and the qualifying household member chooses to combine his or her resources with the income and/or assets of a sponsor to meet the requirements. The obligations of the household member under this contract terminate when the obligations of the sponsor under the Affidavit of Support terminate.

I-864 EZ is needed if you are proving your eligibility to support your wife using ONLY your income (salary, bonus salary, etc).

I-864 W is needed if you are EXEMPT from using I-864 IF you worked in United States for 40 business quarters (10 years) and has met the minimum income Required by Social Security Administration.

  5. Hello everyone :)

I have a question regarding the I-864EZ vs. I-864-A. I am only bringing my wife to US, I have a stable income so I am using my income to qualify, and I am the petitioner.

My income is also higher than the minimum US Poverty Guideline requirements. I used I-864 EZ in our case and it was approved and send to the embassy. However, a friend of ours also claims that the embassy may require the I-864-A as well? Is this true? I thought I-864-A is used if the sponsor doesn't have the financial income or asset to qualify and requires a sponsor. Is this information correct?

Thank you for your help regarding this matter.

  6. My fiancee is US citizen and plans to come to USA for 2 weeks ..during which we can get married if I can join her to USA on visitors or other temporary visa??

We heard that both in K1 and I-130 based visa it takes long time (at least 6 months) thats why we are thinking if I can get visa to join her?

For sure they will give visa to travel with her when she returns? or it depends on immigration officer in India ?can they deny my application?

Please give your opinion on what we should do ? do you think we should rather not get married in India and after our meeting we should file for fiancee visa?

    hello there,

if you are ALREADY married, you can try the I-130. Now i know of people who are already married and claim they are still "fiances" and obtain K1.

Then they come to USA and get married in municipal court (keep in mind they are ALREADY married in their country of origin). Now I strongly advise against this because if the US embassy finds out this info, you could end up in a lot of trouble.

    If ALREADY married, use I-130

If STILL finance, use the fiance visa (K-1 i think)

  7. Hello there,

I just got the letter from NVC saying that all the documents for my wife has been send to the destination embassy. Now, how long does it take to get the visa interview call after sending these documents? How long did it take in your case?

    John

Maybe different embassys do things different but I've never heard of an embassy calling anyone for the interview appointments.

    hello there,

Is there any way to track or find out the possible interview dates for a certain "MDR" number?

  8. this story may/maynot be funny.

A friend of mine was visiting Canada for a concert. A canadian cop pulled him over. apparently, Canadians go by KM/H (kilometers) while Americans go by MPH (miles per hour). So, he sees these "100" (they mean 100 Kilometers = 62 miles per hour) Speed limit signs all around the place. since the car he was driving was american, he thought he can go at 100 MPH. And so he did.

A cop pulls him over and he goes, "Gee officer, I was only doing 82 mph"..... he he.... classic mistake.

  9. Does she have any proof that she resided in Bangalore, like lease agreement, voter card, bank account in Bangalore, etc.? If not, then she probably doesn't need to get a PCC from Bangalore.

My husband was living in Hyderabad for 2 years but they said they could not give him a PCC because he had no proof or residency. He just got a PCC from the passport office in Visakhapatnam (where he was issued his passport) and from his village local office near there, and no one asked for any other PCC.

Well if you husband was in Vishakpatanam, did you write that down in the G-325A? They are going to want to know all the places he resided in the last 5 years.

In the case of my wife, she did not officially own any property or anything like that. she lived in a college campus along with other students. the building she lived was part of the college buildings so there is no offical lease agreement. During Summer Vacation she would go back to Kerala. So she did not continously live in Bangalore throught the entire year as well. thank you eileen, i appreciate the input. :)

  10. Does she have any proof that she resided in Bangalore, like lease agreement, voter card, bank account in Bangalore, etc.? If not, then she probably doesn't need to get a PCC from Bangalore.

I guess the only proof would be her college diploma. I did mention that she was in bangalore for college in the I-130 application.

  11. Hello all,

Just a quick question regarding PCCs.

My wife's official home is in Kerala but she studied (college) in Bangalore from 2002 - 2006.

The passport is registered in Trivandrum (Kerala) and here offical address (I-130 address) is in Kerala as well.

So which PCCs are required? just the Kerala only (Trivandrum and her official address)?

I mean she didn't live in Bangalore consistently for 12 months (she came to Kerala during the summer break). So does she need a bangalore PCC as well?

  12. In 2004 year, I was in college and not working. What happens in this scenario? Is the tax return of 2005 and 2006 be sufficient?

2005 and 2004 are optional from what it is written from the I-864. As long as you are currently making above 125% of the poverty line, and you have all your IRS transcripts/ Federal Tax returns, W2s, Paystubs and Employment Letter, you should be ok.

    Hello RandyandRina

In that case what would i put down for Question 19 on I-864EZ (3rd most recent year)? Just "N/A" that?

  13. Hello there,

    -I am the petitioner

-My wife is the only person immigrating

-I am only using my income (No assets, co-sponsors)

Currently, I am in the process of filing I-864 EZ for my wife. In Line 18, it says "My Individual Annual Income is currently:" Now, during 2006 tax season, I was employed by a different company making around 50K.

I have changed my job since then and moved onto a better paying job in April of 2007. Which salary do I use for the purpose of this form I-864EZ? Do i use the old salary (shown on my tax return) or my new salary (possibly a letter from the new employer)?

Anybody here with a similar situation?

    Thanks again

    John

  14. We did something very similar to that described in the NVC timesavers (see the link in my sig). Ours went a little something like this:
    Dear Sir or Madam,

My name is BENEFICIARY and my visa case number is CASE_NUMBER

I have not received my DS-3032, but would like to appoint my husband as my agent of choice to receive all the correspondence from NVC. I have CCed both his individual email address and an email address that we jointly maintain.

    His name and address is:

    NAME

    ADDRESS

    ADDRESS

All mail from the U.S. Department of State concerning my immigration visa application for the case number listed above should be sent to him at the address above. Thank you for your help.

    Sincerely,

    BENEFICIARY

How long did NVC take to reply to your email?

    John
