  1. I received notice that I was sent and REF notice in the mail on 1/09, I almost had a nervous breakdown :crying: , it feels like i have been waiting forever to get this approved and now I'm waiting for the mail to come. My question is if I filed all the paperwork need for my I130, what do you think they want from me? Im sitting here going through everything and just would like the hear from other people that have had the same exprience. Does anyone have any ideas, so i can prepare myself.

    Thanks,

    Ebony :help:

    Hi Ebonieyez1,

We have received a RFE too...and it was that they were requesting for the copy of our Marriage Certificate...yesss..they lost it, because we sent it the first time, and another VJ got a RFE requesting passport photos and G-325A again.....anyway, nobody knows what they are request for until you get the letter from Uscis..

    Good luck..!!!

    Hi Ebonieyez1,

The same theing happened to me whne I was bringing mu husband over vfrom Nigeria. They wanted

an original copy of the police report and medical mailed to them from Nigeria.

I am glad I did it though. I called and the lady at NVC (or who ever they are these days) explained that I did not hav eto send anything. But if she were me she would not depend on the K-3 only. Thank God I listened to her. The K-3 fell through after 3 denials and being sent back to America and 1 day later after the 3rd denial for the K-3 we got our CR-1 notice for an appointment. I flew over for the interview and three weeks after coming back he was here.

It may not be as bad as you think.

    Take Care!

  2. I can only relate what happened in my case. I filed both K-3 and I-130 which is the CR-1 in 2006. The K-3 was denied 3 times, revoked and sent back to America. One day after the 3rd denial in February 2008, the CR-1 appointment letter later showed up in the mail, and that is how after 2 years my husband finally got here. I flew to his country for the interview loaded with a ton of evidence and 3 weeks later (May 26, 2008) he was in the US. He got his green card about 2 to 3 weeks later after arrival.

  3. Hello all,

I just want to say that its great to have a forum like this, it makes applying for a visa more manageable. I just got married less then 3 weeks ago and am now applying for a K-3 visa. I’m in the process of filling out a I-130 and had two questions. First, the instructions say that the applicant SHOULD provide evidence of an ongoing bonifide marriage. What has everyone’s experience been? Is this necessary? Second, in addition to submitting my birth certificate, I’ve copied the first two pages and the last two pages of my passport-is that all they want? Any suggestions? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks.

When I see posts like yours I shudder. Firs tof all you have only been married 3 weeks! All your evicence will need to be emails, phone calls, pictures, pictures, and more pictures BEFORE THE MARRIAGE  . Have you changed your last name to his yet. I hope so. That name needs to show up on utility bills, social security card, house note, phone bills, bank statements, credit cards and

and your passport. You can change it for free on the passport as long as you do it within a year. I would also get notarized letteers from family and friends (yours and his) stating that this is a bona fide marriage. Do you use phone cards. See if the store where you buy them will give you a notarized letter stating that you buy all those cards from them. If you are divorced you need a copy of the divorce papers, a spouse died..cooies of the death certificate and funeral pictures can't hurt.

Remember at some point they want only originals and that usually is at the interview. No copies!

If someone sent you a Christmas card or birthday card with your new last name on it, present it as evidence. Paint a picture of your marriage for them.

At the interview yes and no answers only. They are not your friends. Their job is to keep you apart.

When you do say more than 2 words make it short and to the point.

    Good Luck!!

  4. Hello,

We are going with K-3 and we've prepared these below. You should find the us embassy's website in your country and evertrhing is written there as well..

    You should start to prepare these below;

    1- Police certificate

2- Full copies of your passport

3- Translation of your marriage certificate

4- Original birth certificate and its translation

    5- 2 photos

Forms (send 2 copies of the forms)

DS-230 Part I and Part II

    DS-156

    DS-157

As far as I know DS-157K is for K-1 visa, you don't need to fill this form out.

    Also your spouse will prepare and send you these below;

    1- 2007 tax returns

    2- 2007 W-2

3- Signed letter from your spouse's employer.. listing job title, start date, salary, the status (full time) of his/her position

4- Bank and other financial statements.. (if your spouse's income is above you don't need this)

5- 3 most recent pay stubs

    6- Copy of NOA2

Can anyone pleae tell me exactly what i need for the k3 packet 3??? i know it differs depending on your country but i just really need a generaly idea of what to get ready and i cant find it anywhere online.

    PLEASE HELP!!!!

My friend, take it from one who just went through 2 years of dealing with Nigeria on the K_3 visa.

You will need everything you mentioned, but when your spouse goes for the interview, he will need emails and/or letters between the 2 of you before you married. Telephone records showing how often you speak with each other. Original marriage license. Notarized letters from as many family and friends as possible stating the marriage is legetimate. Utilitiy bills showing you have changed your last name to his, as well as name change on your SS card and passport. Proof showing you have traveled

back to see him since you married couldn't hurt either. If either of you have been married before divorce papers notarized by the city courthouse, death certificate if applicable and marriage photos.

You need pictures, pictures, and more pictures. Got a house, have his name put on the deed. Cost approx. $150 bucks. It would be even better if you were there when he goes for the interview.

I learned the hard way. K-3 was denied 3 times. Eventually the I-130 caught up with it and we were able to get out of that hell hole based on these things( quite a few we didn't have the other three times like the notarized letters from family and friends and tons of pictures.

    Good Luck!!

Wow, I meant no disrespect to your country or the people from it. I am married to a Nigeria myself and love him and his family very much. I think you totally misunderstood what the meaning of the orignal post was so I am sorry if I offended you or anyone else for the matter that was NEVER my intention. I am trying to learn as much as I can.

I am an old member to VJ. Married 3 years. Yep! Best to avoid conflict until you really get use to each other. My husband too is in school so I eventuall made an extra bedroom into an office. He is stil as loving as ever though, sweet and humble 99 percent of the time. But does demand respect at all times.
