I got police certificate from Russia ,being in Ukraine , its takes several months.Mine took 3 months because it was holidays times ( christmas... etc) , urs might take less :)

All u gotta do- is to go to the russian consulate/embassy in UK and tell them what u need.At least this is how it worked for me. I know nobody in Russia can help u to get it, unless u will give to that person notarized letter, that u want this person to obtain it for you. Also u can go to Russia and get it ursellf, its takes a month and its free.

A few options, i hope its helps. You can call russian embassy in UK anyways ,just to make sure they do it same way there, and also they might have specific hours for this kinda papers.

    Good luck :)

    Thanks alot dear

  2. Guys can you help me,

Me and my fiance met in June personally and had a traditional wedding my faince went back to the states and filed the K3 visa but after meeting the lawyer he was told the wedding wasnt legal as it is not considered in the UK apart from court marriage which we didnt have.So he was advised to withdraw the K3 application and he sent them a letter saying to cancel it as it wasnt a legal marriage and not recognised by law.We were then advised too go for the K1 as we had proof of atleast meeting up.But we cant apply until we recieve the cancelation which was done in July 2007 and till today they havent cancelled it nor did we recieve the cancelation report and so we are stuck for applying for K1.

We are so tensed and confused whats next and what we should do and whats best for us.Can anyone guide us please. :help:

A wedding doesn't make you married unless the laws of the location make it so. Usually (As it varies by country or state), you have to apply for a marriage licence and get a marriage certificate for it to be considered a legal wedding. You need a legal marriage to use the K-3 route.

If you want to find out if your k-3 is canceled, you can call them with your case number and ask. They may not actually send out notification that they received your letter.

Thanks alot for answering my question but we called them so many times and they say wait for the cancelation notice which we will recieve by post.So we are stuck and cant apply for K1 until they cancel the K3.Any idea abt it?

  5. Hi guys,

Got really confused thought of asking advise...I have a slight problem with my birthcertificate it has a wrong spelling of my name but all my other documents are with the right spelling including my passport.i was told i need to see a lawyer to give me a so called deed poll to explain about the error mistake. Will it help and would it be alright if i show my birthcerticate with deed poll for the K1 interview? Is there any other suggestions?I am originally from Tanzania. And when is one supposed to show the birthcertificate for the K1-visa?Please help and guide me if anyone with an idea? Thanks.

  6. I had to withdraw a case that was abandoned over 2 years ago. I filed for a CR1 visa for my exwife back in March 2005. I assumed that the case would be dropped if left alone for over a year. Wrong. I had to send them letters and signatures and copies of my divorce decree. I didnt wait very long before beginning my K-1 visa petition for my fiancee. And that worried me. But everything seems to be ok. The only thing I can say is make sure the old case is terminated before proceeding with the K-1. Statistically it seems faster than the K-3 anyway and also less expensive initially. Initially being the magic word. New fees will make it expensive later. But at least your SO could be here with you wile you adjust status. That's really the biggest advantage of the K-1 I think. Since you recently submitted your K-3 application, you may want to wait until you know for sure that the case has been terminated. My old case was no longer at VSC, instead it was in a coma at NVC. So, it didnt affect my petition for the K-1. I was fortunate. Please be careful. You don't want those cases to knock heads with each other.

Hi can i ask you a favour please as i read your fianceeis from Russia.Could you guide me how to get the police certificate from moscow as i was there studying but now back to my country and have no connections there so how would it be possible to get it?I read that we have to go to the ministry of federation. But as i am no more in Russia what should i do?Please help me if you can .Thnx

  9. The requirement is meet in person in the last 2 years. If you have done this, then you are ok. You can prove that with plane tickets, passport stamps, hotel reciepts, credit card bills in each others home town etc. Evidence of a relationship isn't needed until the consulate stage, and most of us mainly have phone records, letters, e-mails etc.

Thanks alot now i feel abit relaxed....

  10. Many, try the russian regional forum or look here

Thanks alot but i cant find an address where i could email and ask or even call?I sit that i can ask the embassy where i live.I am in the Uk so i can go to the russian emabassy anda sk for the police clearence?I lived in moscow for 7years and need apolice clearence and i am originally from Tanzania now living in the UK...what can you suggest??

As a part of the link I gave you it says...

Those residing outside of Russia, both Russian citizens and non-citizens, may either delegate a Power-of-Attorney to apply for the certificate on their behalf in Russia, or apply directly to the Russian Consulate. Police certificates should note all names that the person has used in Russia, and should note the MVD branches in all locations that were queried.

I saw that so by power of attorney it means what? And russian consulate means any russian emabssy anywhere??Please explain it to me if you can??thnx...sorry if i am being a pain..
