  1. My husband's interview was in West Palm Beach on August 13th. He passed and the interviewer told him to expect the oath letter in 2 weeks to a month, and that it should be in time for him to vote.

We still haven't heard anything and I am starting to freak out. Especially because we are going out of town for a wedding at the beginning of October.

I have an Infopass scheduled for next week.

Does anyone have any experience with the West Palm Beach timeline?

  2. My husband just had his interview. He had 2 traffic tickets that we did not include on the application. He asked about them in the interview, and we had the proof of payment and copies of his driving record. The interviewer said she did not care about the tickets, as long as they were not alcohol or drug related.

  3. Well, my husband had his interview last Wednesday in West Palm Beach. We actually got there an hour early (we didn't want to get stuck in traffic or looking for parking). They let us in to the waiting room, which was pretty empty when we got there, but by the time we left, was totally packed. We could see an oath ceremony going on in the other room.

His appointment was at 12:30, and he was called in at 12:40 (I stayed in the waiting room). The whole interview lasted 15 minutes and was very straightforward.

The interviewer asked him if we were still married, if we were happy and if we were planning on having kids. She didn't even ask for my proof of citizenship. Then she looked at his green card and passport.

She commented on the amount of paperwork we brought and how organized it was (I included EVERYTHING, plus photocopies). We had a huge expandable folder and tote bag full of stuff (but she didn't want to see any of the proof of marriage and residence). My husband told her about the additional trip he took since submitting the application, and she verified the dates in his passport.

He had also had 2 traffic tickets that we didn't know to include in the application. I was worried about them, so we took the proof of payment and copies of his driving record. He asked the interviewer about it, but she said she didn't care about the tickets.

Then she asked him the civics questions (which he answered before she could even finish asking!): who is the current president, who is president if the president and vice president die, what are the colors of the flag, who is Martin Luther King Jr. and something else. Then he had to write "I am too smart for this."

He got the paper saying he passed the interview, and was told to expect the Oath Letter in 2 weeks to one month and that it should be scheduled before October. Our fingers are crossed, because we have to leave town for a wedding in early October.....

All in all things went really smoothly. I was a lot more nervous than he was.

  4. When we did the I-751, our case was touched after biometrics. We did the biometrics for the N-400 on 4/29/08, but were never touched. Called the FBI today and they confirmed that they sent the prints back to USCIS that same day.

Is it normal not to be touched?

How did you contact FBI? Just curious bcos I did not know one can contact FBI for fingerprint check.

Just call 304-625-5590, and hit options 2, 5, and 3.

  5. I am traveling around the US for 6 weeks or so and I am going to file my N-400 in the next few days before I go. As my mail will be on hold at the post office, I will not be able to find out my receipt number and therefore view my case online. Does anyone know if i call the Customer Service line will they tell me my case number over the phone? I would hate to miss out on a biometrics appointment!

    Thanks!

Be careful! We only got 1 week notice for our biometrics appointment.

There is still hope, everybody!!!

  8. Hi all

When the check for my I-751 was cashed, there was a receipt number written on the check (WAC....) that I could use for tracking. My N-400 check was cashed this morning - no such number. There is a 7-digit number written on the check that I don't think is a receipt number. Do they not write receipt numbers on the check for N-400s?

    Thanks!

Our check was cashed at TSC and it was the same way....I think it's different for the N-400.

  9. Alphabetical order: are we talking first name or last name?

we are an "S" and our approval via e-mail didn't come until 2:00 p.m. good luck and God bless for the anxious losers still awaiting.

Aha. We are a "W." If you buy the alphabetical order theory, that could mean they are doing "T"s today and won't get to me until Monday or even Tuesday. I wonder if licianne, the other 2/25 (aside from the Canadian in Texas newbie dude, I guess), has a last name that begins with something after "S"?

Well, our name starts with "P", so I wonder if we got passed over......we were in the second group that got the email notice of the transfer.

We got a response from our Senator. All it was was a printout of an email from VSC that said: "This case was receipted on 4/5/07. We are currently processing this type of case received 2/2/07.....and a printout of the processing times from the USCIS website.

    Big help, thanks a lot!

I am starting to worry that if they are going in alphabetical order that we have been skipped, since kalstravels is a "T". Am considering making an Infopass appointment on the computer this weekend................

  10. I got transferred here in march and i know other people got transferred even later. youre freaking out too much girlfriend (or boyfriend?). i dont think you should get an infopass appointment since there seems to be nothing wrong other than you being nervous. it just takes patience!

No news yet on my end--and my anxiety level is growing. Do you think there is a reason that some people got the transfer date on Feb. 22 instead of Feb. 13? Has anyone from the second group gotten an RFE or interview notice? I'm just wondering if there was some reason why we were divided into two groups.

Our check was cashed for our N-400 application, but I'm thinking about making an Infopass appt if we don't hear about the I-751 by the end of the month. Has anyone done this?

I know, it's just that they screwed us over so much with the AOS that I don't trust them at all.....they lost our documents, lost our biometrics, and sent the card to the wrong address.....!!!!!

  12. Okay, now I am really starting to freak out....still no approval and our NOA was 4/20/08, before some of those who have been approved. My question is this. At what point should I go get an infopass and see if maybe something like an RFE or interview appt was lost in the mail? I have this (maybe irrational) fear that they have sent something that got lost in the mail and will deny our petition due to no response. This happened to my friend before.

Should I just sit tight? I sent off the citizenship app this morning. We don't need to go in to get his passport stamped until June, because that is when is greencard expired and therefore, his extension letter expires.

The senator can still tell me nothing......the woman at the office is really frustrated herself at the lack of response from USCIS, and said that if it was up to her, she would dismantle the whole customer service phone line.

Any ideas? Am I freaking out for no reason? AAAaaaaahhhh!!!! Obsession is setting in.................................

  13. Like many of you, we are now eligible to send in the citizenship petition for my husband.

My question is this: since they seem to be approving the I-751 transfers, will sending in the N-400 somehow delay our I-751? Will they go looking for it wherever it is, and take it out of the pile on someone's desk?

Or will they decide to make us wait until the citizenship interview to adjudicate them both at once?

I just don't want to waste anymore time sitting around more than necessary?

    Please share your thoughts!!!!!

  14. The immigration ombudsman is a person that works in the Dept. of Homeland Security, but not for USCIS. They are set up to handle inquiries from people that have cases that are outside the normal processing times or are causing you hardship. The guy on the NSC thread credits his letter to the ombudsman for getting him his approval.....

The ombudsman also uses our inquiries to make suggestions for changes in USCIS.

There is a special form to fill out and everything. I clicked on the link that was listed on the NSC thread and printed off the form and address. I am thinking of sending it when we reach the one year mark next month.
