  1. Hi Friends!

It's hard to believe its been nearly 12 years since my husband entered the country and we are preparing now to fill out the N-400. This site was a lifesaver for me during that nail-biting waiting period and I'm back again to my VisaJourney family to ask for advice on the N-400.

It's nice that it's available online and I skimmed through the application we're going to fill out this weekend and wanted to have everything  I needed before we started. My question is What do they mean when they are asking for evidence?

Do I have to upload documents that show we have bills in our name, our house, our car, etc? What constitutes as evidence? I couldn't see a lot online.

    Thanks!

  2. Hi All,

I Love Visa Journey! It was my lifeline when my husband was filing to come join me here. Glad to be back among friends.

This may have been answered already, so I'm sorry, but I was wondering, if my husband's parents from Mexico want to visit us for a month, do we have to fill out paperwork here for them or do they do everything there in Mexico?

I'm a US Citizen and my husband is a permanent resident.

I saw a post that said that relatives out of the US have to apply "on their own merit," so I didn't know if that meant they have to do everything paperwork wise there too.

    Many Thanks!

  3. Hi!

Albino and I got our letter in the mail yesterday!

    Conditions removed!!!

We were surprised it came so fast.

I guess they're trying to get as much done before the looooong Nov Dec break~~

BTW... I saw in the timeline there's an option for stamping his passport (date to be inputed)

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Not sure if we need to go to the consulate for a stamp or what?

    Thanks everyone.

Good luck to all of you at any stage of the journey. It's a ride!

  4. Good Morning Friends,

I was Surprised how fast our first NOA came!

We sent in our completed packet on 6/02/09 and received our letter of 1 year approval on 6/11/09!! Hubby's green card was extended.

Next, my husband got his notice to appear for biometrics. It's soon. July 9th at 11 am here in Baltimore.

My question is, what happens now?

I saw on some posts that people have made an INFO pass appt on the day of their biometrics to get the stamp in their passport for the one year. Is that what we should do?

Hubby is eventually, during his 10 year green card holding status going to apply for N400, so we're through the first hurdle, but I see that a lot of you are still waiting for the cards in the mail and frustrated.....

    We filed through Vermont

    Cheers!

    Linda

  5. I have my green card in hand, 10 year green card, and I would like to travel out the country, what documents do I need? Or do I just apply for a passport.

By the way I dont have my old passport in hand, my family and I came to the US with a family passport when I was 7.

    thank you all in advance!

What is a ten year green card?

  6. That's exactly the info I needed. You get so much lingo thrown at you you forget half of it by the time it's time to go through the paper factory again!

    Thanks!!!

    Hi Everyone!!!

I haven't been on the site for about a year, but now with a question, it's the first place I come. I LOVE this site and the advice everyone provides. I couldn't have survived 24 months without my husband without support!!

I wanted to ask some advice:

We had an immigration attorney help us through the K Visa process, but the I751 (is that number right...)

looks fairly easy, so we wanted to do it on our own.

I do remember vaguely our attorney telling us it would be easier to just have my husband go for citizenship, rather than go through the whole adjustment of status... Is this true?

This post may have been up here before, and I'm sorry to repeat, but not having had been here for awhile I've gotten out of the loop.

thanks so much for your help!

It is possibly an easier process... I dunno about that... cheaper yes  , but you can't file for citizenship until the 3rd year of having the PR from a USC spouse.... so you basically must apply to remove conditions... no way around it if you have only been married a couple years.... then in a year you can apply for citizenship... sometimes people apply for citizenship while waiting for the I-175 to be approved to shorten that wait also... removing conditions can take a while  ... but basically you can't apply for citizenship until 3rd year as a PR, which would mean you had to have filed for removing conditions also
