  1. Hello everyone!

My baby arrived last week and it has been WONDERFUL! AHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! when i went to the airport, my heart was beating soooo fast and seeing him come through the doors at JFK was a MIRACLE! he is adjusting well, and has even fallen in love with my cat, Kente! i was hoping he would like her, because nana is not used to cats being in the house....cultural differences...haha! We have been doing well...just shopping for things for him to stay WARM and I have been cooking him lots of caribbean food...(i am of trinidadian descent)...anyhow, things are great, and i am so thankful to god! he is now getting adjusted to the time difference, etc. We are going to apply for the EAD next week! nana keeps saying: " i need a job, now!" well, that is all for now...keep us in your prayers.. as i am keeping you all in mine!

P.S. this has been a hard week at work for me, because all i keep envisioning is seeing nana once work is over!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (L)

That is such great news! I'm so excited for both of you! I love hear happy stories... teeheehee! You all take care! God Bless you both!

  2. I've blown the diet since yesterday. Currently, Im eating any choccie I can get my hands on :(

Lisa, I wish you much success in your quitting! I just thought to tell you that cinnamon candy worked for me too, especially the really hot ones, like the super hot tamales candy and believe it or not, the WalMart brand of cinnamon discs... they tend to curb my cravings and I keep them everywhere, home, work, bed side, purse... lol... It was really hard for the first few days, even with the patch it was horrible but it's been about 2 months now and I'm doing great, I don't think about it until I see someone else smoking... or I'm really stressed out, those are the times that I change the scenery, take a walk, get some coffee, go chat with office buddies! I'm praying for you and you will do fine! Also, it's ok to cheat on the "diet" for the first couple of weeks... it's much easier to exercise when you can breathe and after a couple of weeks, you will find yourself breathing better and feeling better. Walking long distances and exercise is much easier! So, go ahead and cheat a little, you'll get past that... especially when you're clothes start getting too tight... lol!

  3. ALL I want to know is, which one of us is going to wash dishes for $5.50 an hour??? NOT ME!!!!!

actually, i was washing dishes for minimum wage ($3.75) 28 years ago....it's a good job for kids.

It's really sad that the minimum wage has gone from $3.75 to $5.50 (or whatever it is) in such a period of time and I agree... this is the problem! Kids don't even want to do that for $5.50 an hour!

  4. Honestly, I don't know that I would or wouldn't try to whack it off if I were in the same position - I would hope not but there is a distinct possiblility that he could end up to be penisless... I would hope that men would be smarter than to lay in bed and say that... obviously not ALL of them... and everytime I hear about that, I giggle too... however, when I hear a story of female genital mutilation, I just get grossed out... so I guess I understand the mans point in this type of situation...

  5. Hello everyone, I hope I'm in the right place... Anyway, I'm in the process of filing for a K-1 and my SO currently lives in Ghana (he's in school there) he's been in Ghana for several years he's legal there, on a passport. But, he's from Nigeria. I am petitioning for him through Ghana because he is still in school. Is this correct? I'm confused at where the process may lead us since he's not from that country. Any ideas, suggestions, anyone want to point me in the right direction (or just give me the finger... lol)? Thanks in advance...

  6. Good Luck to you! I quit recently - just a couple of months... Chantix did not work for me, as a matter of fact, I lost weight on Chantix but wanted to smoke more often. But I did use the patch and had to change my circle of friends at work. The patch worked well for me, there were times that I'd forget to put it on until I had a real craving... but if you try it, don't sleep with it on... it caused me horrible nightmares. Anyway, good luck to you! the twizzler thing is a great idea too... my doctor suggested that I get some for just that reason. Now I'm addicted! :D

  7. Sounds like a crazy person to me. Just ignore her.

Sounds more like she should seek medication for those outbursts... Unfortunately, there are idiots like that everywhere... so sorry that you had to be exposed to her stupidity... She obviously didn't know any better...

  8. Thanks alot!

LOL, it seemed like we couldnt understand each other at all yesterday. I got so frustrated. He knows I can understand Liberian English, but I was so tired from battling traffic and my brain was dead so I wasn't following his story at all. He ended up having to repeat his story 3 times and also break it down into American English, lol. We both cracked up laughing at how I made him butcher the story. Anyway, I'm glad we weren't the only ones!

LOL! That is the cutest thing! I'm so glad to hear that things are going so well for you all! I'm excited about teaching those things to my sweetie when he arrives... I'm afraid to take him to WalMart though... lol! I may lose him in there... lol! I think the volunteer idea is a wonderful idea... I may talk to my sweetie about that!

  9. Oh well... I guess I can't rent there either, 13 tattoos and 6 body piercings... Guess it's a good thing that I don't live in Texas... lol! I do, however, live in the "Bible Belt" in Tennessee and I've learned from the odd looks that I should cover up if I want people to look at me as a responsible, bill paying, employee of a huge company - corporate office... as a matter of fact, I work directly in the Office of the C.E.O. of the company and he couldn't care any less... go figure...

  10. I certainly would move and already have plans to spend at least part of our time there once I retire

Yep, me too! If my Kole couldn't be with me, I'd pack up and move as soon as I was able to settle some things here. We are planning on moving there later in life and while I am very spoiled and love the luxuries here in the U.S. I would do what was necessary to be with my loved one; even if it meant giving up all of the wonderful things that we have in America, like hot running water and food that I can actually properly digest... you can only eat so much fried chicken and rice... and after spending time in a place that doesn't have those things, you start to appreciate them alot more!

  11. I met my husband on-line and we had been chatting for months before we met in person.

But, when I saw him for the very first time in person, it was DEFINITELY love at first sight!!!!!

    same here....

part of me loved him from talking to him online but when I saw him for the first time, that sealed the deal......

I third that... I loved him before I met him but when I saw him, I got all of the textbook signs of "love at first sight"... lol! I absolutely fell in love with him when I first caught sight of him!

  12. YAYE! I'm so excited for you guys! I know that when I hear those words that my baby has his Visa, I'm buying a ticket for the next thing smoking out of Ghana! I just got back from Accra on Monday, the 17th and I had to fight myself after 18 days with my honey, I couldn't stand to leave, I cried for the last 2 days I was there (I'm a big baby) and I can't wait to see him again... if the flight wasn't so stinking expensive, I'd be there every weekend... LOL! But I guess everyone feels that way! Anyway, CONGRATULATIONS! Let us know how he is adjusting, please!
