  1. Congrats!! Wonderful Christmas present!!

By the way, when was the approved date?

I had not even looked until you asked. It was Dec. 19. Yes, wonderful Christmas present.

We have a beautiful 8-month-old daughter who has two passports, one Peru, one USA. And in a couple of years, Mom will also have two passports (citizenship is delayed because I was assigned to Europe with my NGO a little while, and don't want to get into the whole absences thing).

We feel like we've attained some stability now about where we can live, where we can work, where can raise our daughter.

    God bless all of you!

  2. Had bio appt today - I was all geeked out and wanted to go 'back there' w/ hubby to see everything but no go. :( Oh well - it was still interesting. We got there about 15 mins early and they let us right in. Were only about 4 other people in there and 2 technicians doing fingerprints.

I did find it interesting that there was a desk there solely for I 90s (there was a big I 90 sign above that desk). Go figure!

Eddie y Gabriela - that does make me wonder how much of the application the ASC's see. Weird! I wouldn't have thought they'd have access to much more than your

I 751 maybe, but certainly not the photos you sent as 'proof'. Bizarre!! Guess that proves ya never really know...!

ETA the service center will adjudicate if they approve you w/ out interview; if you are interviewed, your local office will be making the decision. I presume your ASC and local office are two different places, or are they the same - meaning do you live really close to the local office, so they just send you there for fingerprints - or were you actually at a separate ASC?

If I understand you correctly, yes, we went to the Philadelphia ASC, so maybe they are making the decision, not the Vermont CSC. Being "touched" the Monday after the Friday biometrics makes me think maybe Vermont has handed it off to the ASC.

Then again, who knows? Good luck and Godspeed to all,

  3. Curious comment from the fingerpring and photo technician at ASC in Philadelphia when my wife got her biometrics last Friday: "Your daughter looks much smaller in the photos."

We filed in Vermont CSC, yet the tech has seen the application? Who's making the decision to approve? Maybe they sent a copy of the app to the ASC? All very strange.

    Anyway, yesterday we were "touched".

    Good luck to all.

  4. Hi, all, I am getting ready to submit our I-751. But in reviewing the posts here, I realized I never sent in the change of address stuff (AR-11 and I-865), not once, but for the two times we've moved since receiving the original GC.

Are we in hot water with the USCIS? Should we submit just the latest move, albeit late?

    Any advice appreciated!

  5. Strange matter here that maybe we can all learn from.

OK, my wife is issued her GC two months ago in her married name. We go to the Social Security office to change her SS card from her maiden name to her married name, and the SS office says they can't do it, because USCIS hasn't "updated" my wife's name to her married name.

I find that impossible to believe because the married name is on the GC. Also, in the Munich airport recently, US immigration stopped my wife because the airline tickets didn't match her passport name (still the maiden name), but, when given the GC, looked in the computer and said, "Oh, here you are." That tells me she's in a CIS database with her married name.

But the SS woman shows me a printout from the computer, and, lo and behold, the maiden name is right there.

She says I need to call CIS to tell them to update my wife's name. I think she's crazy if she thinks I can call CIS and get this squared away. I'm beginning to think about not updating the SS card at all. After all, I know my wife can travel.

    Thoughts? Advice? Experience with this?

    Thanks,

  6. Hi, all. I have a question for the veterans/those who know all concerning all things AOS.

In our case --- and I suspect many others, soon --- we were approved for AOS, AP and EAD, all at relatively the same time. The green card and work card have been ordered, and the AP letter is on the way.

The question: Doesn't the Green Card do everything that the EAD card and AP letter do? That is, why do we need the EAD card and AP letter, if the Green Card allows one to get work and re-entry to USA?

    Thanks in advance,

Yap, the green card gives you authorization to work and reenter the USA from abroad. when green card is in hand, the others are not needed.

Great, nice to know those fees were well-spent!! Thanks, that's what I thought!!

  8. I-485 Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status Employment-based adjustment applications January 13, 2007

This means for those of us whose cases have been transferred to CSC in August, we can expect to wait another 7 or 8 months before our case is even looked at?

My question, exactly, Alhamdulillah. I thought transfers went faster, b/c no interview, etc. But that timeline is scary.

  9. Hi June Filers,

I am curious why some people get transferred without interview and why some have interviews?

For the people that have been transferred did you submit evidence of Bonified Marriage or not with your I-130 application?

First of all, is that what the transfer means? No interview? I'm still baffled why many people here are congratulated when they're transferred.

Second, I'm imagining that I submitted the same paperwork as anyone else who is coming off a K-1 visa and seeking an AOS: certified copy of our civil marriage certificate.

I'd be happy if some of the others out there with more knowledge would pitch in on this issue.

  10. we have just received our "interview package" and my fiancee has to fill out the DS 156 form. There is a question on that form that asks if my fiancee plans to work in the US. We plan to get married with in a week of her entering the US and she is not going to work during that week, but as she is going to be living here a lifetime i think that it is fair to assume that she will be working in the US. How do people think that we should answer this question.

With respect to the others who have replied, you should definitely write "no" or "no intention to work." This is a trick question, just like the one that asks if the fiancee plans to attend school in US. They are trying to get evidence that the marriage is fraudulent, or that your fiancee wants to come to US not to marry you, but merely to attend school or get a job. Write "no" and your fiancee can still get work authorization later, like any other permanent resident.

    Good luck!

  11. Hi, all. I have an important issue that I hope someone can give us advice about. We filed our AOS, EAD and AP June 8. While we've had the biometrics (July 6), no word yet on EAD, AP or interview.

My wife's mother died in Peru today. Obviously, we urgently want to hop on a plane for Peru. But, with no AP papers for my wife, what to do?

Is it safe to let her go and then DHL her the AP papers from the U.S. when, and if, they arrive in the next few weeks? Or do they do something with the AP papers on the way out of the U.S. that's necessary for re-entry?

Last, is there an office I can call for a special exception?

Thank you in advance for any help.

    Eddie

  13. Hi, we are June filers and newbies to visajourney.com. I have a few questions, some of which belong here and some of which don't (please indulge us as fellow June filers!).

--- Can we be added to list of June filers you're keeping? So far as we can tell, we are the only June filers at the Atlanta service center.

--- Can we get a little help with some visajourney.com questions?

---- How are you folks getting photos where your avatar is on your profile?

---- How are you getting your timelines with all those good comments appended to your signature?

This is not the most intuitive communications tool and a little help would be appreciated so we can contribute.

Thanks much and good luck everyone!!
