I didn't wait long at all before they called my name and the lady brought me to her office which was almost the last one down this long hallway. I could see other people being interviewed. Everyone kept the doors open.

Raised my right hand and swore to tell the truth.

She asked me some of the questions over from the application. I hadn't put my speeding ticket on it but I told her about it and she said I should have put it on there so make sure you put yours on there. Wasn't a problem though.

She asked me to read one sentence and write down "Lincoln was president during the civil war."

She asked me:

- Who was the vice president now?

- What group of people were brought as slaves?

- What is the highest court in the US?

- What were the colonists fighting the British about?

- How many amendments to the constitution are there?

- Who makes federal laws?

And that was it, got my paper saying congratulations and I should get my oath letter within the next 2 months.

She wasn't very chatty, just down to business but she was nice enough.

So there it is!!

The citizenship test is to get citizenship...the green card IS the permanent residency.

She does not need to be married to you to take the citizenship test. However, she does need to be married to you to take it *now*. A permanent resident can file after being a permanent resident for 3 years if they are still married and living with their USC spouse.

Since you're divorcing her, she'll have to wait until she's been a PR for 5 years.

(this is assuming she has the 10 year green card and not the 2 year one).

Yeah don't worry, it's all there. I think the problem is the host didn't set it up correctly. The more I look at it, the more it looks like they screwed up our allotments. I'm waiting for a reply.

Stupid question. I've been a pr for 9 years and just applied for citizenship now. I still put i was doing it under marriage since that's how I got my AOS. I know I could have clicked the other box but I didn't.
I put our tax returns in there. Do you think I still should get all the stuff that says we're still married (bank statement etc) or will I be ok?

I guess I should still bring the stuff just in case right?

I feel like I'm going through the AOS again, paperwork, fingerprints, evidence. ugh. Almost over

After reading the difference between the evidence required for the three year marriage and five year, was almost tempted to wait another couple of years. LOL, almost took me that long to gather all the evidence for the marriage privilege. Why don't you just forgo the marriage privilege, you don't need it with nine years under your belt.

like i said because that's how i got my green card so i just checked it. I'll get all that stuff, it won't be too bad. After 9 years, we got a bunch of stuff

I mailed in my application earlier this month and I have a few questions:

- when you go for your interview, I'm assuming you need to bring the originals, just in case they ask? What do you bring? Marriage license, tax returns, what else? House deed? Joint bank account?

- my field office is in Oklahoma City. Does anyone know if the oath will be in Tulsa or will I have to drive back up there? I read that some people had ceremonies in Tulsa but that was a few years ago. I don't think OKC does same day oath ceremonies.

Thanks D&N, that wasn't helpful at all.

It's a friend of mine and his fiancee is in the UK.

Chispas: thank you so much. I'm going to tell him to get everything, juvi or not. Better to give too much than not enough.

He knows that he has to give the record. I'm just trying to help him get a complete packet so there won't be an RFE's and they can send all the information the first time around and avoid possible delays for RFE.

I have a friend who has a record. Now we know he has to get all the records on that.

3 questions:

- Juvi records are also required right?

- some of them are military that have been sealed. Any idea how to get those?

- How does the record of a USC affect a k1 application?

He was charged with:

Brandish a deadly weapon ( metal pole) Age 14, Resisting Arrest (was dropped in court, still on government record) age 14, shoplifting age 16, Domestic Violence ( Fight with sister, 3 yrs probation, about to end) age 24

and courtmarshalled.
