I am trying to send a wedding ring to my fiance in the Philippines and I am worried about theft and whatnot. The major companies, fed ex, UPS, will only insure 500 dollars. DHL wont do it all. Is there another alternitive? If I was to hide it in a teddy bear or something, what are the chances of it being found by customs? Any help or past experinces will be greatly appriecated, thank you
I sent my fiancée a new ring last month, because when I was there in Oct 07 one of the cleaning ppl stole it right out of our room. So when I was sending paperwork to her I used DHL they have their own customs agents, and she rcved it in about 4 days no problems but I also knew it could not make it, but felt safer using a know carrier and tracked it all the way to her LOL. SO can it be done yes are you just willing to life with the choice if it does not make it. Hope it all works out the way you need it to, Take care

When I called the USEM I rcvd a conformation email with the appoitment date and time they said show it at gate 2, I had them send it to my email then forwarded to my fiancee so I have copy incase she needs again. It was sent like 5 mins after i got off the phone with them, just letting you know.

My fiancee has gone to try and get her passport for the last 2 days. She has NBI, BC on security paper, SSS, postal, student license the school form they ask for on the application, but they told her today she needed old ID's, she doesn't have any she tried to tell them that but they said thats what she needs. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do next, I told her when she gets home to call DFA and ask for a supervisor to speak to them and see if she can get a name of someone who can help. Anyone have this problem? Appreciate any replies.

I was also in the military when i met my first wife who was a foreign national from the Philippines. I was stationed on subs as a Radioman with a TS SSBI clearance, and had no problems marrying her, what are the new requirements, cuz I would say don't worry about the military saying no, i have only heard of one case and that was because she belong to some group deemed terrorist by our government. Good luck..
im a CTI2, mine is TS/SCI (i think thats what you meant since SSBI means single scope background investigation...i had that too)...its a bit more stringent these days. its not a problem to marry her, its a matter of getting the paper work in and cleared before i CAN marry her. someone in SSO dropped the ball and told me my next step was getting married and informing chief...not true, i informed them of it, which is on record, but i needed to file these forms....which are a bit late now since i wasnt aware i needed them. so its not that i CANT marry her, i just need the permission, so to speak. so its just getting the paperwork through, and then waiting for approval...and i dont want to bring her here and burn up the three months waiting for approval, you know?
Had the TS/SCI also I just routed a chit and then had to listen to everyone tell me were to young, don't know each other that long (dated 2 months LOL and are marriage lasted 15 years) If you let them know about the time requirements they may push it through for u. Just a thought.

Do you have to get a local police certificate from the barangay, I thought that is what the NBI clearance was for in the Philippines? I they do need to get them do you need one from every place my fiancée has lived since 16 yr old? Thanks looking forward to you answers?

My Fiance never received anything in the mail. But keep in mind we were the first ones to go through this so they probably haven't sent out any letters yet. I would call the call center first thing Monday Morning (Philippine time).

For those who are waiting for an interview date at USEM.
I just got off the phone with USEM.
They gave me an interview date on April 22nd @ 7:30 am
For those of you who scheduled your interview, were you notified by the embassy that you are ready to set your interview day, per the USEM website it states
"The applicant should have received a letter from the U.S. Embassy in Manila informing him/her that the case is ready to be scheduled. The letter will include a case number (usually beginning with the letters MNL). The applicant and petitioner can use this service so long as they have the complete name and address of the applicant and the case number begins with MNL. It is best to have the principal applicant’s passport number available as well."
I have close the same NOA2 approval as most of you but we have not rcvd anything from USEM, should i go ahead and call, and if so when will they open (I know close cause of holly week) will they be open Monday 24 Mar. Thanks for any help....

I called USEM today and made an appoinment for interview. The employee suggested to have the medical check-up a week prior to the interview date, they will inform you that.
When is your interview shceduled? What if you want to do early medical incase you know your going to be doing a sputem tests? Thanks for the info

I brought to the interview my husband's 1040 and W2 as required in the Packet 4. In addition, I had also with me his Ceriticate of Employment.

When we send a copy of our taxes do we need to include State also or just send the Federal tax 1040 with our W-2? Thanks

How did you find out your interview date? From what I have read one month is usually the earliest they suggest..

I ask her if the site was still valid for checking interview dates she was not sure on that, so i can't really answer that. Sorry

Just got off the phone with Grace, she informed me that the interview scheduling process has not been finalized. She told me to call back on the 18th or 19th to see what the status is. She also stated since the process has not been completed when i call back we may already have our interview date set, They schedule once a month so all that are waiting will be in May now. Just thought I would share.

Hello just got off the phone with DOS asking about the appointment issue (they have no clue) had to inform her and she went to the USEM website to read it. But as we talked she said the Packet 3 was sent out yesterday to my fiancée, I thought they only send out packet 4 in the Philippines. I'm I wrong do they send out packet 3? And yes I have read the Manila Embassy K-1 visa guide. Thanks in advance for reply.

Hello, I don't understand the Tagalog you wrote, but if you have been approved for your visa try to fly before your baby is born then you will never have any problems, if not it is not as easy as they say, we have been trying to get my sons BC from NSO since Feb. You will have to send the BC to your fiancée he has to sign the back but you need him to go to the Philippine Embassy or Consul here in the states. They did not tell my fiancée that the we have spent so much extra money sending back and forth with DHL... I sent her the notarized copies last April 14 and she went to NSO Monday they still to not have his BC, has to go back to Quezon City Hall and ask what happened to it, we changed her interview date to June so hopefully both can be completed around the same time, I wish you luck, if you or he has questions about what he is going to need to do let me know. you will also have to call the FedEx number to get the package for the CRBA that your fiancée needs to fill out and have notarized... hope this helps take care
