  1. Hi,

I have a question regarding if I am able to pick up passport at Mumbai Embassy with visa stamp after interview. If so how long does it take before we can pick up the passport from the embassy? If we are not able to pick it up from the embassy then how long does it take to get delivered at home? Thank you

Yes, she can visit while waiting for the interview to be scheduled, at the discretion of CBP.  As long as she shows good evidence of returning to India to complete the spouse visa process, she should be fine.

I am not sure about the requirement for alerting the embassy.  If her interview was scheduled and she needed to reschedule, then yes, she would need to contact the embassy.   But while her case is still at NVC the US Embassy would have no knowledge of her.

Hi thank you for quick response. Any suggestion on what is considered as good evidence on returning back to India. Was going to show return ticket and employment letter? Anything else? Thank you

  3. Hi,

my spouse has been waiting in India for CR1 interview. Her documents have DQ since May 2020. I was thinking about bringing her to US on tourist visa right now for 1-2 months as she has a valid tourist visa. Anyone have any experience?

Also I heard that I have to write a letter to the US Embassy stating how long she will be here and why I want to bring here. Does any one know if that is true? If so where do I need to send that letter To exactly?

    Any help is appreciated.

  4. Hello,

I am applying for spouse base visa. My application has been approved at NVC stage and I told them I would bring the police certificate during interview as suggested by other people in this forum.

For my wife she needs to get police clearance certificate from India and Canada. My wife she’s in India right now.

india- it doesn’t look that hard to get. It’s just applying on PSK website and making an appointment with passport office.

Canada- it looks very time consuming since she’s in India right now. Directions that I see is that need to get a fingerprint at a local police station then mail it to a Canadian agency who will covert that to digital form. Then they will send it to RCMP who will then mail us the certificate.

I wanted to know for Canada- is there an agency in India who can do all these stuff for us? Preferably in State of Gujarat.

it just seems tedious to get a police clearance certificate.

    thank you in advance
