For me, i had my wife send a certified copy of her passport from the issuing agency in Dominican Republic (usually the Ministry of foreign affairs). I sent that certified copy of passport for English translation from Spanish. I was not gonna send the original passport and risk it getting lost.
Then I added that with signed W-7 by her, original joint tax return 1040 jointly signed, original W2 copy B, jointly signed declaration statement to treat her as resident alien for tax purposes. I sent in to Austin, TX center in early March 2021 and ITIN arrived under 8 weeks surprisingly in early May 2021. Tax refund $$$ was received last week late June 2021. It is worth it and you can file state taxes if applicable afterwards for another $$$

Oh wonderful, I want to believe that this is the case and they are working under the radar for routine services and not only for expedited appointments.

Oh wow this is good news that the embassy is conducting interviews for DQ in April/May. I wonder why the US embassy DR website would not confirm that they are doing routine IR1/CR1 interviews. My wife was DQ in late September also 😊

Hi guys , step 3 of the pre interview checklist for every applicant on travel.state.gov  states for applicant to bring:

“Original or certified copies of birth certificates for all children of the principal applicant (even if he or she is not accompanying).”

Please from experience, Is this statement referring to only children who are immigrating and attending interview with the applicant? or to all children of applicant, regardless of if a visa was applied for them or not?

How was this statement applied in reality for beneficiaries who attended interview alone and did not present a birth certificate of their children since their children were not immigrating with them or the children do not have a birth certificate yet for various reasons? Was there an issue for not presenting the birth certificates?

“Guys has anyone ever had an EAD replaced by USCIS that the post office didn’t deliver yet claimed they delivered it from the tracking number. I have filed a missing mail and case with post office but no success up till now and USPS doesn’t wanna claim responsibility.
This EAD is Based on marriage to US citizen and pending adjustment of status. USCIS last case status says card was mailed. I was never issued a tracking number but i saw it from Informed Delivery. 
After calling USCIS, they said they will respond in 15 days. Anyone with experience of this? And if they actually send a replacement or I would have to apply for it again? Been waiting for 5 months for this and now not delivered”

Please help! I became a US Citizen in February, 2020 and I got married to my wife in Dominican Republic (DR) same month. She has a 5 year old daughter whose father was never in the child’s life since birth. The father’s name is also NOT on the hospital birth record as she was a single mom and she was never married to the child’s father. The hospital birth record list only mother’s details. After the wedding, we went to the declaration office and my name was added as father and the child’s last name would have both my last name and the mother’s last name. Now I am back in the states and I filed an i-130 petition for my wife and now I want to file for my step-child (her daughter) but I am thinking there could be a problem because my name now appears in the official birth certificate of the child as FATHER which I assume means Biological Father. I am confused. Please anyone seen this kind of situation before help me:

Adoption is not an option, it is too long and requires me to live with the child in DR for 2 years or so which I can’t and lots of paperwork etc.

1.       Can I go ahead with the filing of i-130 petition/DS-260 for the child as a CHILD (IR2) visa or DNA would be required? I will fail the DNA obviously.

2.       Can I go ahead with the filing of i-130 petition/DS-260 for the child as STEP-CHILD (IR2) visa? Will my name as father on the child’s birth certificate be an issue or non-issue if explained that I am the Step-father and not the biological father but my name is only on the child’s birth certificate since the biological father is nowhere to be found.

3.       Can we wait until when my wife (the mother) immigrates with her CR1/IR1 visa and she can then petition an F2A visa for her daughter and I wouldn’t have to be directly involved with the process?

Please help me with possible options in navigating this process and I don't want any misrepresentation issue or denial from this confusion.
