and we also have no idea when the border here will be lifted

any European country is better off than Mexico (just my opinion, of course) but the administration has been talking of a wall between these 2 countries now for over 6 years (during his campaign and in office)

an approved visa will get a renewal

just think when she comes ,  she will also be alone while you work and she is stuck quite a while till she has permit to travel

this is hard ,  we all know but to give up an approved visa and try to get it reissued in Mexico is scary

Yes, I agree. We shall see and hope all of this gets settled in the next couple of weeks.

Does the travel and work permit get issued separately? How long do these normally take? 6-8 months?

why?   she has an approved visa

stay and get it reissued / just may need a new medical exam

we have no idea how long the border will be close between Mexico and the US as current administration is in charge

As previously mentioned, she is all alone in a small apartment in Madrid. Hasnt been home in almost two years and hasnt seen her family since September. We are just curious as to if its possible. A reissuance might take months as well - we have no idea when the Presidential Proclamation 9993 will be lifted

  3. Hi,

My fiancee and I had the K1 Visa approved in Madrid but she will not be able to enter the United States before it expires due to the travel ban, immigration issues and pandemic we are currently facing. I was wondering if it was possible to transfer her case and/or receive a reissuance of this visa from a different Embassy. She is from Mexico and has been in Madrid on full lockdown for a long time now and would like to be with her family in Mexico. We are just not sure if this is possible and/or if this will hurt her chances of receiving a reissuance.

    Thank you and best regards

I am confused.  I thought the K1 visa expires in 6 months after you had your medical exam. Why is it expiring so soon?

I believe the expiration is when the medical exam is conducted.

She has the visa in her passport already. Looks like it set to expire as everyone on here and those I have reached out agree that she will not be allowed to enter the United States. Extremely frustrating because of the time and money spent, as well as the lack of response of a reissuance.

my now husband got a reissue in Jamaica last year, we had to pay a new DS160, but no other medical exams, etc.  It is not a secret the areas that are part of the ban, I am pretty confident that by appealing for a new visa it should not be an issue.  That being said, I am sure there will be a fee, as nothing is free :)

Does the reissue take as long as the original issuing?

You understand that a K-1 visa dictates that the legal marriage MUST take place in the US, right?  She cannot enter the US via a K-1 if she has already married.

Yes. I should have stated that we intent to marry once she/we are in the US

As of now, her visa expires on the 26th and we are getting a lot of mixed responses from other websites and sources

The US Embassy in Spain does not respond and we have no remaining options with the rapid approaching deadline

    At a glance:

With limited exceptions, foreign nationals will be barred from entering the United States if they have been physically present in one of the 26 countries of the Schengen Area within 14 days before their attempted entry.

U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, their spouses and children under 21, and certain other family members are not subject to the travel restrictions, among other exemptions.

The travel restrictions will remain in effect until terminated by President Trump.

    Thank you

We intend to marry and I intend to travel with her - not sure if this helps

K1 Fiancee be part of those exemptions?

  8. Hi all,

Need some urgent help. My fiancee had her K1 Visa approved in February and it is due to expire May 26, 2020.

She is in Madrid and from what I have read, she will be allowed into the country. My only concern is that she is

in Madrid and thus in the Schengen Area - part of the travel ban. Does anyone know if she can enter the US with

the K1 Visa? Very worried about the expiration, especially since we waited so long to get it approved

    Thank you
