Took my oath yesterday. Everything went just fine - they just took my 10 yr green card and did not ask for anything else. I'm a US Citizen!!!

I have just realized that I no longer have my expired immigration documents: my two-year green card and EAD. I went through my stacks of immigration papers, but I can't seem to find them. I even have a sinking feeling in my stomach that they might have accidentally gotten shredded with some old credit cards and other documents that my husband and I were trying to get rid of during the move Can this create a problem at my oath ceremony? I will turn in my current green card, but what should I say if they ask me for other documents? Help!

Received my oath letter today!!! I'm so happy because I am going to travel out of state in August, and my oath is schedule for the day after I get back to Dallas. Now, fingers crossed that my plane doesn't get delayed, lol.

I had my interview July 13th (recommended for approval). I checked my online status yesterday, and it still shows "Interview" stage, and last touch was on June 10th. So, I assumed that they just don't update the online status as often as they probably should

Just got done with my interview. It went really well, I did have to wait almost an hour for my appointment, but everything else went without a glitch. The officer was very polite and professional. He asked me 6 questions that I got right, and asked me to read "When do we celebrate Columbus day?" and to write "We celebrate Columbus day in October". Then he started going through my application and asking me a bunch of those questions about my political affiations, moral character, etc. And after we were done, he recommended my case for approval and had me verify the spelling of my new name. I asked him when I should expect my oath invitation, and he said that it would probably take around 30 days to get one. I just can't wait! Is anyone else waiting for their oath in North Texas? Anyone taken the oath recently?

Congratulations! I'm having my interview in Irving in two weeks, but I'm going to change the spelling of my name, so I'm probably not going to get as lucky with the same-day interview.

I have requested a name change as a part of naturalization process. Actually, it won't even be a major change, I'm just replacing letter "i" in my name with an "e" to make it easier to pronounce. I know that I will have to update my SSN records, my drivers license, my bank stuff, and my work records. I do have a question though. My marriange certificate has my name spelled with an "i". Do I need to request another copy with a new spelling? Also, I am a CPA. I will update my name in the State Board of CPA's records. But do I need to request an updated copy of my CPA certificate (not license) as well? Anyone has any experience?

I am afraid that I might end up in a similar situation. I just received my interview letter, and I'm scheduled for July 13. Then, for almost the entire month of August I will be out of state for work (can't really reschedule that). So, unless my oath is going to be scheduled end of July or in September, I am going to have to reschedule.

Got my fingerprint letter! Appointment is May 24th

I sent my application in about two weeks ago. Haven't even cashed my check yet.

I was an F-1 student before I received my green card. I told my school immediately after I got my NOA, so that they would stop charging me the international health insurance fee (which was over 500 bucks).

I prefer to carry all my documents with me - green card, passport, driver's license, all my credit cards, medical and dental insurance cards etc. Having all this on me at all times makes me feel better.

Don't take in as an attack, but I just got curious about one thing. Do you keep photocopies of all these documents at home? Because if you happen to lose your wallet, you will lose your entire identity. You will have absolutely no way of establishing who you legally are - no green card, passport, driver's license, etc. If you also carry your social security card with you and you lose that too, than you are really screwed. SSA requires two separate photo ID's in order to get a new card. That would be a nightmare to try to restore your identity under these circumstances.

My green card came in today. Woo-hooo!!!

My "Welcome to the United States of America" letter came in the mail today. Hopefully, my green card will show up soon too

Hmmm... I never received a separate NOA for the I-130 form.

My NOA letter only had 2 numbers. No number for I-130 form.

I just received a SECOND email from USCIS for today!!! "Notice sent welcoming the new resident!!" I also looked more closely at the first email (card production ordered), and I noticed that production of my card was ordered on July 14 - two days ago.

So, if your green card arrives with some information wrong or missing and you have to send it back, are you still considered permanent resident? If so, what proof do you have of your status? I see that some people managed to get their passports stamped, but what about those who weren't so lucky?

Speaking of offensive AOS interview questions. I've heard of a couple who had their interview when the wife was 8 months pregnant. The immigration officer pointed his finger at her belly and asked the husband "Is THIS yours?"

If you know that you will have to travel sometime soon, I would recommend applying for AP. And I would not trust anyone from USCIS, unless they are the officer working on your case.
