It is only a clerical thing for the Immigrant Visa Unit to handle K1s because the requirements like petition, proofs of relationship, medical, affidavit of support etc, are more akin to what the the IV folks process than say a tourist visa application/interview.  You’ll check status on the IV Unit site, and queue up in the short IV line to get in on interview day,  and your online status will even say Immigrant Visa after the interview. BUT within a few days, you will notice your online status switch to Nonimmigrant. That’s your clue that you have been put in your rightful group and are getting very close to your status switching to Issued, meaning the visa is printed.

Many thanks, I was pretty sure this was the case, but times like these, grey areas like this seem to arise quickly!

i'm in the same boat, due to fly to the US from Australia mid June. I'll contact the Embassy but I i have a feeling they will say it's too far to know.  let me know if you guys hear anything, an extension would be great if they'll allow it!

Like many of you I'm in the same boat, K-1 Visa & was due to travel out Monday, my Visa expires next late next week.
I've spoken to the London embassy by phone/email and they said to wait until my Visa expires and apply for a re-issuance, however, my understanding previously was that only J, O & P Visa's could be re-issued?
Does anyone have any information on this?

And what is supposed that we have to find there because I’ve been checking the website almost everyday to see if I can find some information and there is none ..

I completely agree, I pointed out, that, as of Sunday night the website hadn't been updated with the UK & Ireland ban which was announced the day before, and they just repeated the advice to me
I've been trying to contact them in other ways, if I hear anything, I'll be sure to post it here

  4. Morning All,
I seem to be in the same boat as many of you here, was due to fly out this time next week (from the UK to US), with my K-1 visa due to expire before the 30 day travel ban is up.
I spoke to the UK Embassy in London this morning and they just said to check the government websites for information

  5. Good morning all,
Firstly I would like to thank all of you who contribute to this website, you made the application process for my visa a whole lot easier with the knowledge you all have on, practically every situation, and that was invaluable to me being granted my visa.
Has anyone got any information regarding the status of K-1 visa holders, I have read the proclamation regarding the travel ban and couldn't find anything specific to that visa. I spoke with the London Embassy and they were next to useless, the visa option is all automated, and having managed to speak to someone there, they just directed me to the website, which when I last checked hadn't been updated to included the ban on travel from the UK & Ireland
    Many thanks
