  1. Hi guys:

    2 questions:

If we get a work stamp at POE in New York, does that mean he can work right away? I just talked to a lawyer on the telephone; a) he says they don't do that anymore and B) even if you get one, you can't work----doesn't make sense.

The I-864 (affadavit of support) has to be submitted with the I-485 (AOS). Can we use the same one we used for the K-1 interview or do we need a newer, updated one?

    Thanks, Alane & Ramzis :luv::luv:

If he gets the temp EAD from JFK (haven't heard that it has stopped being given out) your fiance still needs to get a SSN before he starts working.

The I-134 is what your fiance should take to the interview. I-864 is for AOS.

Actually, it depends on the country. My fiance's country (Liberia, W. Africa) required the I-864 for his interview. So this is a good question. I saved a copy to my computer so it's just a matter of re-printing it and getting it notrized. Most banks will do it for free if you have an account with them.

  2. hello guys.. it's been awhile I've been very busy with work.. anyways.. just have a question has anyone in here got to NVC more than 50 days? Im getting closer to pass my 4th week.. thanks guys..

Hi Kits, welcome back I was wondering what happened to you. It took exactly 5 weeks for our case to get to NVC. It left NVC last Wednesday 10/17 and I plan to call the embassy tomorrow morning to see if they have it.

  3. Hey guys.

Well, I'm starting to get depressed. We receive our NOA2 at 09/14 and no NVC so far.

I just saw a timeline from Brazil that has gotten the NOA2 at 09/24 and NVC at 10/11. What should I do?

    :crying:

Hi Clau, I saw that too. I think we can all agree this process isn't always fair :( . Hold tight, you are almost there! Have you called NVC yet? You're over 30 days. Maybe they will give you some good news.

    Good Luck!

Is the processing time through NVC only long for petitions from CSC, or is it long for VSC also?

From what I've seen, there's only a delay with CSC, VSC (although approvals are slow) seems to be mailing cases off right away after approval.

I just called NVC and our case arrived on 10/15 and left today 10/17. Thank God! I hope this sheds a little light on the wait time. We were approved on 9/10.

    Looking up!

  4. We got our NOA2 on September 7th and then got the hardcopy a week later, and still NOTHING at NVC. I've called a few times and they keep telling me to wait, and I've even heard the 'It can take up to 90 days to process...' line. I've also called USCIS, and while I did get a very pleasant woman, she told me that from what she understood, K-1's are forwarded directly to the embassy! I said, no, that's not what this notice says and while she tired to help and dig information for me, she really couldn't tell me where it was. It's unreal.

I called USCIS today but she couldn't tell me where our case was either. She also told me I could send a complaint to uscis.webmaster@dhs.gov. This addess is found in the "Contact Us" section on the USCIS website. I'm not going to bother but thought I'd share this information for anyone who'd like to take a shot at it.

  5. nyblubird, did you get any info? OMG you are at 30 days! I hope you hear something soon! Your patience is inspiring....I need to get some!

I called NVC this morning and they said they still don't have our case. She said they give the Service Centers 90 for delivery. (I guess before they will do an inquiry)

This process has changed my perspective alot. Knowing that I have a life time ahead with my sweetheart overshadows this slight hinderance. As I wish we were futher along, I'm also happy I'm not still waiting for an approval. There is a bright side!

    Looking up!

  6. Waiting sucks! I don't think it will take 90 days! I'd say 30 days from the NOA2 to the NVC seems to be the average waiting time lately. There have been some lucky couples who their NVC notice a few days after NOA2 but that's not the norm :(

    Hang in there!!!!

I had resolved to calling only once a week on Thursdays (no rhyme or reason why I chose Thursday) but tomorrow will be 30 days since my approval so I plan to give NVC a call sometime tomorrow (probably late evening). I'll let you know if I have any success. I have gained so much patience with this process now that I'm not really moved by being told I have to wait. :innocent::blush:

  7. Confirmed NVC has received our file today. However, it has not been entered into their computer in order to generate our new case # with NVC. I was advised to check back next week. :dancing:

I haven't even called NVC today yet!

Congratulation!!!! Like I said, what a difference one day can make!:dance:

I plan to call later tonight.

Hoping you will hear some good news tonight. Good luck.

I called yesterday evening and was told our case was not yet in the system and to call back next week. I explained that I was initially told it takes 2 - 4 weeks and Monday will be 4 weeks (but is a Holiday in the US so I know they won't be working). I'm not sure how the Rep you spoke to knew 'your case was in the building, just not in their system' but this Rep was not helpful to me. USCIS tells me they sent it on 9/13 and NVC says they don't have it so I'm at a loss for who's telling the truth.

    I'll call again on Tuesday.

    Looking up!

  8. Hi all -

We got our NOA2 from the CSC on September 10th and it has STILL not been received by the NVC.

    Hopefully soon...

We have the same approval date, most likely they will arrive in the same batch. I did call NVC today and according to the lady I spoke to, our petition has not arrived. She said it should be there any time now. I'm anxious to get past this step and move on with the process. The unknown is what kills us. If we had appointments or dates to go by, at least we can look forward to it. But this open ended deal is awful.

I also received my NOA2 on 9/10 and I'm sure we're all in the same batch. I've resolved to calling NVC only once a week. I chose Thursdays so I'll be calling tomorrow night. You never know the difference one day can make. We'll see! Tomorrow may be our day for some movement!

  9. Thank you God for this wonderful blessings. Good things work together for good that love Him. We got our NOA2 via email and USCIS account. Thank you so much to those that has given me encouragement throughout this process. Please continue to pray for our speedy way to NVC and to USE Manila. Thank you so much my fellow vjs..

I thank God for this blessing as well. He has a time for everything and He is never early and never late!

I knew this was IT!

    CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

Now on to the next phase of the process. :)

  10. I just got off the phone talking with CSC about sending approved petition onto NVC. I had a pleasant conversation with the rep, although at first she had me on a long hold but she did apologize later. I’ve confirmed our approved I-129F case is still at CSC collecting dust because the mail service contractor at CSC is running two weeks behind schedule. However, the officer said the piled up cases should be in transit within the next two weeks. She advised me to call CSC in two weeks time to confirm the case is not at CSC anymore before calling NVC. So there goes it...... safe to conclude USCIS don't mind if customers call them as long as they have a valid reason. Also, she did indicate that once USCIS approves a petition, USCIS don't have anything to do with the case anymore. Approved petitions are immediately passed onto (mail service contractor) who in turn delivers mail to their various destinations for next stage processing . Tongue in cheek, I told the officer USCIS should hire another mail servicing company to do their mails since the current contractor is under performing big time thus making USCIS look bad. Hopefully, this little update will ease the minds of all filers with NOA-2 and waiting to hear from NVC. Cheers!!

That's completely opposite of what I was told by CSC today so I guess we'll see. One of these Reps are lying but we'll find out soon enough. The information I was told is in my above post.

  11. I called NVC today and they told me they didn't have our case in their system. I then called USCIS to find out when they would be sending our case and was told by a polite woman that our case had in fact been mailed to NVC on 9/13. However, due to the volume of cases they receive, it may not be in their system yet. She further stated they have crates of cases for all types of visas and it may take up to 3 weeks to get to a case. Then it will need to be assigned a number and put into a jacket prior to being sent to the embassy. So, it's very possible our cases could be sitting at NVC but just haven't been put into the system yet.

We're getting there! I'm just happy the USCIS part of this process is over!

  12. Congratulations on your very quick approval. Did you make it already to NVC? Keep us posted. Well, when I called back in early September the person I talked to said it usually takes 30 days before they can get it out off their desks. I know it sais on the update that the time period they gave is 60 days from the RFE response that the case has resumed. I will call this Friday if I do not have my NOA2 yet and tell them that it's been more than 30 days. I will keep you posted and thank you very much nyblubird for the concern. I really appreciate you a lot and it feels good to have someone that do care. I wish you the best and God bless.

You're welcome. We're in this together to encourage one another. I plan to call NVC tomorrow (Thursday) night to see where our case is. I'm hoping they tell me it's on it's way to Liberia but we'll see. I'm praying that you get your Approval this week!

  13. Surprise, surprise.....more games and more lies.

We simply CAN NOT sit by idle and let this continue!!!!

More good news for us (being sarcastic)--> http://www.uscis.gov/files/pressrelease/Li...aFS_19Sep07.pdf

If I'm reading this correctly, yet again, VSC has been designated as the dumping site for more applications that will take priority over our K-1's and K-3's. If I'm wrong (and I hope I am) somebody please tell me.

Really, the more I think about it, the more I just want to leave this country to be with my SO until this is all over. Everyday that passes is one more day that has been STOLEN from us!!!!...and at this point, I am more than angry.

The way I see it, there are two choices:

1.) Let the anger eat at you until you explode -or-

2.) Harness that anger and turn it into positive action to force some change

Yes, you misread this, it clearly states on the top of page 2 there is no application or registration required. This decision will have no bearing on the K1 application process.

  14. I basically created a duplicate of the RFE sheet (which included the 4 items they wanted) with a reply to each. 2 of the items were answered by the passport and boarding passes. I also provided a statement of how our relationship was established. And even a luggag tag I found. :) We didn't have any documents in another language, which was also listed, but I even replied with that fact. I think this may have been a generic form.

I still think you should have been approved by now. I know calling they is a headache but they should be able to tell you something by now.

It took a total of 133 days for us with the RFE.

  15. Thanks guys and contratulations to ou nyblubird for the quick approval.. i wish mine was that quick.. huhuhu..by the way what evidence did they request from you? mine was more evidence that we met within 2 years..

That's what they wanted from me. I only sent my itinerary and pictures with my original application. With the RFE I sent copies of my passport stamps and boarding passes.
