hi,
i am mailing in my AOS package today. I have also included my advance parole and ead with it. The lady at immigration office said totall cost is 1021. Is this including all forms or just the AOS forms. I understood that the advance parole and EAD are not charged now BUT the fee increased for the aos forms.
anyone know the right info on this....................thanks

Hi guys,
I talked to EI today about my claim. I was receiving EI when i left canada and was going to continue receiving it when i got in U.S. I arrived in U. S on sept 7 and got married on 19th of sept. i DID NOT receive a EAD at POE. Because of this I am not allowed to receive benefits until i get my EAD from immigration.
The lady i talked to told me to send her my k1 and i94 and she would check into it for me, she said it was allin the air in their office regarding k1 holders. Is there anyone receiving EI even though they have not received there ead yet?
it do not make sence to me, we are available and willing to work BUT not allowed to...........................!!!
thanks

i am just learning now that i can get EI while i am in U.S. I already had a claim open in canada before i moved to u.S 2 weeks ago. I filed one more time when i got here but was not sure if i were allowed to do that or not. Anyway, i figured i would just not file again.
BUT now apparently i can continue my EI. I never informed them i was moving to U.S on k1 etc..........I just figured they would stop my EI. What do i need to do now? and i already filed for a check last week, will I get in trouble for that. what number do i have to call? thanks for info
mary lou

yes you can
OMG..........ok i am so confused now then. NEED INFO. I was getting EI in canada right up till I moved to U.S 2 weeks ago. I actaully filed my last check last week, I didnt know if i were allowed to file on line here in U.S or not but i did it anyway, I figure i will have to pay it back. ANYWAY, now how do I keep my claim open? or is it too late, will I get in trouble because i never informed them of the move, visa etc.....
thanks,
mary lou

Has anyone recently filed for employment insurance after moving to the US? On service Canada's website, they state that you must provide proof that you are legally authorized to work in the US.. soo... you need to wait until you have an EAD?
Any insight into this would be greatly appreciated.
i dont think you can obtain EI from canada once you move to the U.S.

back in U.S...................................thanks for all info....................good luck
p.s....................TRANSFER TO VANCOUVER, IT IS EASY. ALL YOU NEED IS ADDRESS IN WESTERN CANADA.!!!!!!!!!!

Look on the bright side -- at least you have an option to even enter the US without a waiver having been approved. The majority of people who have to file waivers definitely do not have this option and are forced to remain outside the US (and usually separated from their SO for a long, long time).
With a somewhat valid reason and the right documentation things can happen, but only if you try and make it happen. This will be my last entry into the States for a while, but that doesn't stop Sharon from coming here to visit.
Myself and chris are here discussing you..........we just want everyone to be happy now i guess. But anyway, if you enter U.S on parole, you are in U.S leagally...........................what happens if you get married spur of moment. i know that is probably bad advise but the way i am looking at it.................if it is going to take 18 months for waiver it may be worth your while looking into it.
just curious about it ....................not telling you to do it.

Ok i am going across POE today with my k1 visa, just wondetring what is inside that sealed envelop. I am hoping they will not ask me about working in U.S before. I guess if it was a problem, i would have heard about it at interview. Anyway, if anyone knows what is in envelop please let me know.
Oh, and chris, my fiance come into secondary with me.
thanks,

Ok guys here is brief on yesterday interview:
Got Downtown around 12 and looked for embassey, not hard to find at all. the oficer at door told us to come back at 1245. We went back and they took our letter and did security check, once that is done they put you on elevator and go to 20 floor. once there they call you 1 by one. There were 4 k1 people there...............3 were members of VJ. We all sat and talked and that made time go by fast.
Once called to window, they just ask for your forms 1 by one, sit again for 5 mins and then fingerprints, sit again for 5 mins and then go up to window with officer. IT IS NOT AN INTEROGATION, IT IS A CONVERSATION!!!!! Every officer from the entry of embassey to the interview window was friendly, polite and i can not say enough , i am so impressed!!
Anyway, we never had to show anything evidence , chris was there so i guess that was evidence enough. Even with my sec 212a7A, i submitted my form stating i was denied, told him i quit my job and that was it. BE HONEST. he looked at chris and said Oh your a police officer, and looked at me and said enjoy your life and congrats. i almost passed out. 10 months of worrying for nothing. One of girls there had wrong B/C and another guy last name spelled wrong, they gave them their visa as well and said mail in correct forms........no problems at all.
Anyway, now all i have to do is go through POE tomorrow in Vancouver. we fly back to Mississippi tomorrow night. Anyone know if vancouver POE is rough. Will they give me hard time or is the k visa a given that you will have no problem? here i go worry about that now. lol
Oh and you pick your visa up day after your interview. Let me know about POE if you know anything, thanks.....mary lou

I didn't really want to say anything before we had all the good news, but here goes.
A few weeks ago, Bee got word that a position in his company was opening up due to some management shuffling. Funnily enough, this is the same position that he'd applied to six months ago, but was passed up for another person. His boss said that he'd only put Bee's name into the list of recommendations this time, and then we played the waiting game.
We found out on Friday that Bee is getting the promotion
Since then, we've discussed our options and have decided that I'll be moving over in November, which is WAAAAAAAAY earlier than we thought. (And I am so thrilled because I miss Bee like mad
and leaving my increasingly unbearable living situation early is fantastic.) Which means... omg panicking what do I need to do?!
Here's my list so far:
- obtain driver's abstract
- changing addresses
- cancelling cellular phone service
- EI and all that jumbledy
- banking stuff
- contacting BC MSP for non-residency
- selling/recycling/donating non-essentials
- packing my life into boxes
- figuring out how to get my boxes to PA
- wondering how I'm going to ship a computer
and who wants to be the first for awesome advice and big yippees?
Hey Nina,
Are you from vancouver? I am on my way there tomorrow for interview on wed. We are staying at travelodge by airport because chris gets in later than me. Is there shuttles or public transportation going dpwntown from airport. My first time being in Vancouver so just curious...........
thanks,
Mary Lou

im sure it will be fine!! BUT only answer their questions, dont blab away, lol short and sweet is always good. When they ask u the questions, take a few seconds and think, before u enage the mouth, lol best of luck
Ditto. Don't volunteer information - they are the ones asking the questions - short'n sweet indeed.
Best, L.
The interviewer is an overworked, underappreciated bureaucrat. Try to make things as pleasant as possible. As Lanny MacDonald (flames9) states, do not be over anxious. I realize that you are well prepared but keep calm, you're Canadian after all. It's tough but if you get excited try to say phrases like "O my goodness," "I reckon so'" and "What are your parameters?" Avoid alcohol before the interview and do not challenge the interviewer to a steel cage match or a glass of shut up juice. That's about it. Seriously though you'll do fine, most of the interviewers are very nice and very helpful. Be yourself (as opposed to who, Lindsay Lohan?) and everything will be copecetic. Just remember you are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here...
Yes now that voluntaring info came up. Will i bring up about being denied entry under swc 212a7A. I am thinking they are going to bring it up seeming i have ticked it off on my ds156 form. If he dont ask ............WHICH I AM SURE THAT ####### HOBO WILL....LOL. ..................I WILL TELL HIM TRUTH....................if i get refused a visa then only one in the truck will be him. A yr of this nightmare is enough for me...............i am ready to go home with chris and sleep.........hehe.....lol..................thanks guys

Hey Guys,
On form 156 or 230 not sure now, it states were you ever in U.S before. I stated that i have worked there on a Tn visa. BUT, I worl offshore with a canadian company and sometimes the rigs i were on were in U.S waters. When the contracts were completed we were transported to airport in U.S and sent back to canada.
I stated working for the canadian company but never actualy stated that it was U.S waters. I also travelled to other countries and had connections in U.S airports. Does any of this count as being in U.S. Should i have documented that on forms as well.
Hopefully, I can explain that at interview. YES, maybe I am thinking too much.........3 more days........OMG
thanks.

Congrats on Packet 3.... FAX IT OFF ASAP! Then email them the next day just asking if they got the fax okay and if a date had been scheduled.
And from the looks of it, it's still about 1 month from receiving packet 3. There were 2 people who sent back packet 3 this month and their interview is in September.
Also when I sent my P3 back, I asked for "earliest date available appointment after <date>". If you can get to Vancouver on short notice you may wish to just write "earliest available appointment". Stacey33 got her interview in 9 days that way.
I think there's a very good chance you'll be able to get there before November!
You will get there earlier. myself snd chris faxed our checklist back (with the day we wanted interview), 1 hr later i received an emailing saying my interview was scheduled.........it took 2 days to transfer my file from montreal and get interview. it is on 5th of sept.........................THANK GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If I remember correctly- another poster mentioned that the Doctor in Calgary no longer does immigration physicals.
Dr Chana in Edmonton is still there- he is the one I went to.
The person in Calgary is still there, it was the one in Saskatchewan that quit - the original post is here:

Hey,
Yes i moved to fort macmurray for work as well and contacted vancouver and asked could they put in a tranfer for me to montreal. By the time i got to Fort Mc my file was transferred and my appointment booked for interview..............It all happened within 2 weeks. If you can get in touch with NVC before file is even sent to Montreal , they will just send it straight to vancouver.
Myself and chris received our interview for sept 5 whereas if we had to wait for Montreal, it would have been december.
good luck and no harm in trying........MAry lou

yes it may be sweet or whatever BUT not realistic.........................it is reasons like these why the rest of us have to prove honest relationships to our husbands and fiances that have been committed for yrs.............not days and not for ecomnomic reasons.
AND NO it is not a new era, it is just happening more and people abusing system and it is US (the hoest ones) who are suffering.
yes i am a tad stressed due to my vancouver interview next week.........lol

I wasn't actually meaning the time it says on the timelines, but the times that people were getting as of now. About how many days is it taking to receive the Packet 4 from Montreal from anyone who is using that consulate?
Montreal told me that they usually mail out package 3 weeks before the interview. If you are dealing with montreal it usually takes 5 months to get your interview from the time they receive your checklist.

Hi Everyone,
Myself and chris just received interview date in 2 weeks for sept 5. I have just copied over our conversations from messenger for the past 10 months and it turns out to be 723 pages long.
Should i print these on paper or do you think the consulate will accept the conversations on disc. i guess this will be a good form of evidence, dont you think?
thanks , mary lou

Hi everyone,
I received my notice today from Vancouver that my interview is SEPT 5...................thank god!!!!! Does anyone know the best hotel to stay close to vancouver consulate. Is the consulate easy to find? i am soooo excited and still a little nervous regarding my denial per sec 212a7A back in Nov 2006................please pray for us that we will not be denied.
thanks, mary lou
