  1. Bio appointment received today July 30. Appointment date: August 16. We'll be out of town, so I checked the box that asked for a new appointment, which I am sending in to VSC. Let's hope a new appointment doesn't last another three months!

    Hi,

I am also a May filer and received my biometrics appointment letter today!

Can someone please update my dates on the table?

    Roc filing date 05/12/2010

    NoA1 - 05/14/2010

    Bio - 08/12/2010

    Thanks

  2. As the form I-864 instruction states, make sure you DO NOT count any person more than once since some may fall in 2 (two) categories. If you are the only immigrant being filed for on this I-864 form, enter 1 on 21.a. Your sponsor, who is your wife, the one completing and signing the I-864 should enter 1 on 21.b. Since YOU are the immigrant as well as the spouse in this case, you should enter 0 on 21.c, thus making your household size = 2.

Thanks a lot to everyone who have guided me in filling it properly. I have filled as per your advice and sent it. Thank you once again.

  3. This is regarding filling the boxes 21(a) and 21© under part 5 sponsors houshold size in for I 864?

I came here on a fiance visa and my wife is sponsoring me.

I understand that 21(a) should be 1 (number of persons sponsored) but what about 21© which says "Persons NOT sponsored in this affidavit", if you are currently married, enter "1" for your spouse. Should this be 1 since my wife is married to me or should this be 0 since she is sponsoring me ?

I understand that the total for household size should be 2 (me and her) but am wondering if 21© should be 1 or 0?

Please help me in figuring out what should go into this.

    Thanks

    Padhu

  4. Me and my fiance are first cousins and she is in Texas. I had my K1 visa interview on 25th Feb (Chennai embassy). The officer asked me if I was aware that different states had different laws and I told her that "yes my fiance did some research and said it should not be a problem". The officer then told me that since first cousins are not allowed to be married in Texas, she is putting it on hold. If i was sure that we can get married, I should get a written letter from the county clerk in Houston that we can get married. She told me that if I want to get married in 90 days, then the marriage should be legal in her state of residence.

We just found that it is not legal in Texas and decided to give documents saying we will get married in Connecticut where first cousin marriage is legal and there is no residency requirement.

Is this the right approach? Is there any way to get the visa cleared? What do I do?

Your replies would be of great help! Thanks in advance
