  1. Does anyone know if the you have to have the Interview invitation letter??? She has to be in Moscow in 4 weeks so I don't think she is going to get another packet in mail. I'm sending her the forms. I requested Embassy to send another packet to her.

  2. https://evisaforms.state.gov/ds156.asp

    1. Item # 7 - First and Middle name as in passport

Fiancee has middle name written only in Russian letters on her passport. How should this middle name be filled up on this online DS156 form?

    2. Item #26 - How long do you intend to stay in US?

    How is this question answered?

    3. Item #27 - What is the purpose of your trip?

We plan to write "Marriage to my fiance" - any other good suggestions?

    4. item #28 - Who will pay for your trip?

we plan to write "Self, Fiance" - any other good suggestions here?

    5. item #32 - Do you intend to work in the US?

We plan to write "No. There are no immediate plans for work but I wish to work sometime in future after I settle down and after getting proper authorization for work" - any other good suggestions here?

    6. Do you intend to study in US?

We plan to write "No. There are no immediate plans for study but sometime in near future I wish to study english language further" - any other good suggestions here?

    1. I'm putting down the same we used on Fiance app. - defer to others though

    2. Permanently after AOS (what a book suggest)

    3. Get married, apply for adjustment of status (what a book suggest)

    4. answering the same as you (Self & Fiance)

    5. Yes - After receipt of work permit - no employer yet. (what a book suggest if you wish to work maybe in future)

    6. Cant help with - My Fiance already has a degree.

  3. How funny, your worried about too many trips to Russia to see your SO. I'm worried for only seeing mine once, which will be exactly one year ago from our interview date. We didn't even meet in Russia. We both wanted to go some where romantic and were we had enough things to keep us busy, so we decided on Hungary, Budapest. Turned out to be the best thing I ever did in my life, well ok second best thing, the first is yet to come when we are side by side and getting married.

  4. Wow, congrats guys! Great to see things moving along for all of us. Just waiting for my interview date now...Scott, any idea why the wait is so long for an interview in Russia? I know it's long for some other countries, but I'm surprised that Russia is one of them...

They send out the packet 3/4 along with a checklist and the interview date all at once. I only know the interview date because I called the State Dept. I assume the time frame is to assure that all paperwork has been completed. 2 Months isn't that bad and is the norm from statistics. It will be here before we know it. I have plenty of things to do around the house to make it ready for them. She will go to Moscow the last week of Sept and that just 7 weeks away.

  5. I just got off the phone with NVC tonight, I about dropped the phone when the gentleman asked me verifiers ....so ummm yea ....sweet........ they got the case on Monday and its already left for Moscow on Wed. Looks like interview will be mid to end Sept, ironically that will exactly be one year from when we last saw each other in Hungary. Looks like I'm done with the K1 thread now.

Tax transcripts -- anyone have experience on how long it takes to get them? I faxed a request in June and haven't gotten anything. I also followed that up with a mail out just this week.

  6. Maybe it's just me, but everytime I call NVC I get someone that is not pleasant to talk to. This is EVEN BEFORE I get a chance to speak.

"Agent XXXXX", CIS or NVC number please..."

I've had call center jobs before and IF NVC recorded and reviewed conversations, they'll be out in the cold if you are terse with customers. I guess my frustration is getting the better of me.

21 days after NOA2 and counting.....

Your not alone, looks like we got stuck in same box with some slubb that has and RFE and holding us up

  7. Alright, just got off the phone with the NVC (and actually spoke to someone nice for a change!) and they received our case yesterday! Course she gave me the standard, "it can take 2-4 weeks to be sent to the embassy', but let's hope that's not the case...

Gratz, USCIS tells me that NVC has it, NVC tells me they don't. So my conclusion is that it in a worm hole, yea that it, wonder how soon before NASA will retrive it. Seriously, I have had no luck getting any thing from either group, I'm glad you made it through, at least I know I'm close.

  8. I was looking at the guidelines on what to send my finance now that the noa2 has been approved. I am a little confused about the i-134 document. here is what I gather

1 everybody has to fill this form out?

2 i need to have it notarized and i need to send it to Elina with the rest of the things mentioned? and she just brings it to the interview at the embassy?

also, do i need to have anything else notarized?

I am a little confused about this document and why i need to fill it out if any one can help, i already sent all my tax documents in the i-129f.

Please update your timeline. Have you received your interview date yet?

  9. I called the USCIS to try to get more information. The first time the guy was rude and wouldn't tell me anything after I said I had apporval letter. He said you got the letter right, then your approved and NVC will have your case. Completely didn't listen to the statement I said about NVC not receivig case yet. Called back, basically was told that it would take 45 days before case would be transfered to NVC and that 3 weeks isn't enough time. Asked several other questions and basically questiones were ignored.

  10. Called USCIS this morning to see if I could find anything else out...the guy told me the petition was sent out to the NVC yesterday, so I guess that's good news! Said it should get there in the next few days...yes! All you guys approved on the same day as me were probably in that same box...

I called the NVC tonight, still no record on file at this time, at least she was nice and showed a little empathy.

  11. Well I have been reading the NVC forums and I'm a bit confused. So I thought I would just come out and ask. What happens after NOA2? Here is how I understand it, please correct if wrong:

    1. 2-3 weeks for file to get to NVC from USCIS

    2. NVC will process and send file to Moscow - few weeks? (any other forums to be filled out at this stage?)

    3. Interview is scheduled once Consulate receives file

    4. interview packet is sent out (will both parties be sent something?)

    5. packet of info is mailed to consulate

    6. Medical exam for benificiary

    7. interview (2-3 months after NVC receives case if not caught in AR)

I'm just trying to get a realistic time line, how in the hell do they expect you to have wedding plans finalized when you don't even know when the person will be here to attend, argh..

  12. Congrats guys! I'm gonna wait till Monday to do my first call to NVC, which will be the 2 week mark...I'm getting nervous as the interview is inevitably coming, and I'm not even the beneficiary! Whew...calm...

Let me know what you find out, I'm unable to call during business hours and wait on the phone that long. Remember, we were both hoping that ours would be in same round of boxes as Vismaster

BTW - just called but no record of case from automated service.

  13. We received NOA1 on March 26, 2007 and were approved on June 5, 2007 by the CSC. Our package was received at the NVC on 06/24/2007 and sent to the Consulate on 06/27/2007. I still have not received a NOA2 or email from CSC. Also the website still says our case is "pending" Not to worry, though, I am so excited the package is on its way to an interview!!!!!!!!!

Thanks God we recieved hard copy of NOA-2... but still no news from NVC :(

Same, I just got NOA2 letter in mail Saturday, also had UPS stop by with a next day air letter package, I was thinking OMG our first package from NVC but it was just work sending out a paycheck, they must have messed up on our paychecks from friday. How cruel of them :bonk:

  14. I thought I would start a fresh thread for the March filers. I'm a March 1 NOA1!!!! Good luck all!!!

Well I sent my info in on March 27, 2007. I got my receipt notice, but how long is this going to take I hope my finace' is over her by Christmas.....and also how does the processing steps work for the I-129f....I think that has me confused the most.

    Thanks....and Good luck everyone!!!

After you get your first receipt notice (NOA1), you get to wait for around 3 months until you get your first approval (NOA2) or RFE (Request for more evidence). Even with an RFE, you will submit the required missing evidence and then get your NOA2 from CSC. After you get your NOA2, which should be soon for you, the case is sent to the NVC (National Visa Center) for additional screening. After this process the application is then forwarded off to the embassy in the beneficiaries country. The time from NOA2 to the consulate receiving the package, is usually 3-4 weeks. One they receive it, you can make an appointment for your interview. In this time, the beneficiary will need to get a medical exam and procure all the paperwork the embassy requires, a list of which which I am sure can be found on their website. This final process take anywhere from a few weeks to a few months, and it looks like the Bahamas is very fast. In all likelihood, your fiance will be here for Christmas, probably long before Thanksgiving. Good luck and I would suggest filling in your timeline, it helps all of us here to be able to follow it.

How long on average does NVC take?

The NVC is taking a while for some right now, but in general it takes about a week to get from the service center, after the NOA2, to the NVC. They process it for a couple of days typically, and then they send it to the appropriate embassy which can take from a few days to a few weeks. It's best to look at the NVC time as from the day you get the NOA2 until the embassy actually receives the package so you can set an interview appointment. This total time is usually 3-4 weeks or so. The final stage, the interview, depends on how quick you can get the paperwork (police cert, translated docs, financials, 156 forms, and medical exam) done, and how fast your embassy is. You can check here: http://travel.state.gov/visa/temp/wait/tempvisitors_wait.php You can usually get everything together, except the medical, while you are waiting for your paperwork to get to the embassy, thereby cutting down the total time to visa.

Deron: Thanks for that website. It was very helpful. I always wanted to know how long it was going to take for my fiance to get an appointment, once he gets his appointment in Honduras. Thanks for the info! Now, I need to wait to get approved, darn it!

You have to read the fine print too:

***The All Other Nonimmigrant Visa wait time DOES NOT include K or V visa applications, which are processed similar to immigrant visas.

  15. Hi scott2007.. first of all I want to congratulate you for getting approved.. second is i have a question.. your two touches where they touched because you called or you just simply checked your online and noticed the changed on the date? Are timelines are pretty closed to each other and I'm just 6 days after you got your NOA1.. I've been touched three times and I'm not sure its because I called.. I am really so anxious to get the NOA2 noticed in the my email or at the USCIS site.. again congrats to you and I wish us all march filers that are still waiting for NOA2s..

I never called in to inquire about the case. They were closed when I tried on the 25th. On the 26th, I had an email that morning that was sent at 12:30 AM.
