  1. Class of '05 here too! Well, met in March 05, filed K1 in April 06, Said got here in December 06 & we married 12/31/06! Still going at it, still loving being married to each other - never better! Said became a citizen in March '11. All is well...

Hey all you old timers! :)

  2. Today my husband is being sworn in as a United States citizen! It is a proud moment and a final hurdle in immigration. Next step will be getting that little blue passport. We'll go to the oath ceremony accompanied by some of our family and then out to eat & celebrate! Whoo hooo.... hang in there folks, it really does come to an end eventually. :)

  3. You're probably right, but I can't help but notice that I've read this story on VJ what seems like a million times, but have never encountered it amongst "real life" friends. Maybe just different circles? Maybe this is the sort of behavior of a "lower class", less educated man in Morocco and in the U.S. alike? Who knows...but I tend to believe that certain behaviors are more tolerated in some cultures. That's not to say that people of certain cultures are predisposed to these behaviors, rather that they are more culturally acceptable. And by culture, I mean subculture that could exist in any country.

I think you may be pretty on target here Jenn. I've seen this scenario a million times on VJ (& other forums) even though I haven't really been here regularly in ages - meaning, it's been going on forever. Good luck to the OP.

  4. It didn't click until I saw Jenn's post. Good to see you too - how's life treating you ?

Excuse me, Lisa, for hijacking your thread, but I guess it's not really... it's WOM's thread :)

I am/we are good. Hubby just got citizenship approved and will be sworn in as a USC on Thursday. Just busy working, playing a little and trying to save up to go visit the fam in Morocco.

    How about you & yours?

  5. Hello Mena people! I don't come here very often any more and haven't posted in ages! But I had some good news to share regarding immigration & thought I'd share it here.

OUR IMMIGRATION JOURNEY IS OVER... IN A GOOD WAY :luv::) My husband's citizenship has been approved and he will be sworn in as an American citizen next week. We are so happy this "relationship" w/ USCIS is over! We have been married just over 4 years and life is good. We are both working hard and enjoying our home together and growing both as a couple and as individuals! So much has happened over the last 4 years and aside from the occasional bump in the road, it's been magnificent. I wouldn't change a thing and I'd do it all over again if I had to (w/ HIM (L) )!!!

So, you see, it can all come to fruition w/ lots of love & hard work. Hang in there newbies!

Ok, carry on... back to your daily stuff.

  6. oh thank you rakasa , this is interating but , i prefer to watch then on tv , im not a computer person !! ;-)

No, no.... you do watch on TV (w/ the option of watching online if you want to). The nice thing is, you don't need a "dish" - it's just a receiver you connect to your tv. Check it out at the website I provided earlier.

  7. Hello Siham,

My husband uses (& is now a rep for them)TalfazatTV (www.talfazat.com). It requires no satellite dish or cable TV, only a receiver. You can get either gold or silver pkg, but w/ gold pkg you also get free PC viewing too (meaning you can watch all these stations on your computer). Anyhow, check it out online, if you're interested or have any questions, I'll put you in touch w/ my husband. He asked me to post this for you. :)

  8. Hi Meghan & INGT - I'm Noura from BR, LA and my husband is from Casablanca. He's been here 3 1/2 yrs. I'd love to have a little meetup for the locals sometime. Maybe we could meet in NOLA or I'd even be happy to host a little dinner or something at our home in BR. Message me privately if you're interested. There are a few others in BR that I know of, but we don't see them regularly. When all your hubbies get here, we can have a little celebration or some thing. :)

  9. Awww  , thanks Jax for remembering my birthday! Had a fantastic Valentine's day w/ my hubby, and plans for another lovely day today! We're both off work today and my aunt is taking us out for a special lunch, then I don't know, maybe more shopping or perhaps just some napping and watching a movie. I think I'm going to make deer kabobs tonight! Or maybe deer medfouna... we'll see. Got some deer meat I need to use, then on Wednesday my super detox cleanse mode kicks in and there'll be a few weeks of no caffeine, alcohol, additives, sugar, dairy, or meat. In the middle of that will be 5 intense days of no grains or fruits either - just veggies - either steamed, juiced, in a soup or broth, or raw. But my body feels so good and thanks me when I do this!

    Cheers!

  10. It is indeed a HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY! It's our 3rd one together and it only gets better every year. Hubby got me 3 dozen roses and a beautiful card. I made banana/walnut waffles & tea and we will spend this gorgeous day off together. Thinking maybe we'll go shopping for a while, then who knows what?

I hope everyone enjoys their day and may all who are separated be reunited soon.

Hey Jax, reunited & it feels so good, yeah? (L)

  11. How about dem Saints?! What an amazing game... Saints victorious over the Colts 31-17. I am normally not into football (or sports, period), but this year was just unreal for Louisiana & the Saints and I couldn't help but to catch Saints fever. It's been a record year & we made history! GEAUX SAINTS! WHO DAT! :star::dance::star:

  12. what caused the fire?

it's under investigation Charles, but it's said to have started in a band practice room in the rear of the building. We were next door to an icon of a restaurant & music space and next to that was a very old law book store & publisher. Soooo.... lots of musicians & cigarettes, grease, & old paper & books - not a good combo.
