  1. Ok, I've read the faqs and flowcharts and forums but I'm still not completely sure what i need to be doing. We got approval notice NOA2 and the letter saying the case has been forwarded to the consulate in Brazil. I am getting all of my financial information together, a new letter of intent, updated evidence of our relationship, etc, plus a copy of the entire first package to send to my fiancé, but I'm a little bit confused about what he needs to be doing. Does he need to get the medical and the police report BEFORE the interview? And what EXACTLY is he looking for, I know there must be some specific exam/ some specific document. But I have not figured out what those are.

Do I need to send my financial documents anywhere else or just to him???

I would just like to know better precisely what I need to be doing, rather than just kind of knowing.

Perhaps I missed a more specific post about this.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

    Thank You!

  2. HI everyone. We're currently just waiting for our NOA2, but I have some questions about the K-1 after it's approved and we're married and here in the US. W

e want to go back to Brazil a year after our wedding to visit or stay for a while, for a few months, but with the idea of returning here to the US. What are the rules for a (non-?) immigrant who wants to leave and come back?

Would we have to apply for a K-3 just to come back? or what?

I was just reading that the K-3 is better for this, and I wonder if we opted for the wrong type of visa, and should have got married there???

Any married folks who know about this stuff please let us know, any info or advice would be appreciated.

All I know is we want my fiance to come to the US and this seemed the only way. But we don't want to remain restricted to stay here forever, or lose our marriage our whatever...

    This is so confusing....

:luv: But love makes it worth it, right?

  3. Hi everyone...

I sent my I-129f, got the NOA1 and one 'touch" back in October, and as far as I can see, now we just WAIT and do nothing. But is there anything I (the USC) can do or my fiancé can do to get all the stuff ready that they will ask for the NOA2?? Such as, medical, police reports, etcetera, tax information, evidence of continuing relationship or whatever, to be ready to send as soon as the NOA2 comes... Unfortunately I'm not sure what to get together since I wont hear anything for more than another month, probably.

Happily, I get to visit in less than 3 weeks, so we'll finally have the opportunity to spend time, take pictures, maybe get rings....

Do you have any suggestions of steps we could take to be ultra-quick and prepared for the upcoming NOA2 and (hopefully not) any RFE's??

    Any advice would be nice.

Thanks, and good luck to everyone else..!

  4. Woo hoo!!!!

Just looked at my bank account and the check has been cashed!

Does that mean we already have a NOA1?

I know there's some number to put into the USCIS system but its unreadable on my check....

I will be getting something in the mail, right?

(Sorry if I'm asking dumb questions, I really do read this forum ALOT but I'm still confused)

I'm happy it means things are on track though, now, they can't just take my $455 and do nothing haha!!!!

  5. The website for USCIS says that they are overloaded with applications, and that initial receipts are being sent out later than normal. Up to 14 weeks it says! Before they even acknowledge your petition!!!! YIKES!! They are only now processing August's applications.

Does this mean that it will be 2 or 3 months before the process even begins???

I'm curious what experience other K-1 petitioners are having--those who sent their I-129f in September and October...Particularly those applying at the California Service Center.

Have you guys got your receipts yet???

Thanks for putting in your 2 cents, best of luck for everyone!

  6. How odd that its seems I gave the impression we have not met in person! We were together for only a couple of months after meeting but I had to come home to the U.S.

I had no camera at the time, but we have ONE PICTURE of us together!!! Thank goodness!!!

But I thought I needed to show evidence of our ongoing relationship in the first packet!!!!! That's what it says.

(If it's only needed later, all the better! )

Thanks for the kind wishes everyone!

  7. After months of getting things together, I finally sent of the packet today!

    :dance::D(L)

I fear that I perhaps we have not furnished enough proof of relationship. I never kept our msn conversations, and I finally gave up on printing a copy of my skype records when I couldn't figure it out after a week of trying.

But I did have a letter, our comments on our online myspace and orkut pictures, and my plane ticket to visit for three weeks over Xmas and New Year's!

I have done a lot of research though, and I figure it's better to send it off and have forthcoming evidence ready if they ask for a RFE. I sure hope not though!

I'm so grateful for this site and forum, I don't know what we would have done without it!

    Now we just wait.....

  8. Well, I'm getting EVERYTHING together FINALLY to send off the K-1 petition!

On the G-325, I've got a couple little issues.

    1. I honestly don't remember ANY of the many of the addresses I lived at during college, as I moved a lot and did not keep records. Is it ok just to put my mom's address, which I have listed as my PERMANENT ADDRESS for years, even though I did not live there? So far I put my mom's address and made a note of the college address thing.

    2. I had soooo many jobs in the last 5 years. Can I just put my current one that I have had for 2 years (since that is the financial information that really matters). Is it ok just to put "Student" before that (with the name of my university) and note that I had many, many jobs during those years?

    3. I am sending in copies of our Myspace and Orkut commentary pages...But we always communicate in Portuguese...Should I translate it (just lovey-dovey stuff) into English, and do that form that says I accurately translated both pages.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated!!!

Hope to send it off tomorrow!

  9. So, my boyfriend and I have been getting ready for the k-1 process. He's in Brazil and needs to get a bunch of documents together so we're still a little ways away from even sending in the first applications. But I just read today that Bush signed some kind of waiver for visas so that Brazilians don't need a visa anymore. They just need a passport, I guess...So....I'm just wondering, does that mean that he could just come visit on that non-visa thing, and get married without this k-1 deal. I'm confused. Anyone else know more about this Visa Waiver Program?

  10. Thanks for the input, everyone!

A couple other queries: I've been thinking about paying the $1000 bux or so to an attorney to help, since they claim to have 100% success in obtaining the visas. Does anyone have experience with these companies, or think that it's unnecessary?

The only problem I can think of with our criteria is that, well, we just met in February, and although it hasn't been that long, we are completely sure we want to spend our lives together, and especially since it's going to take a LONG TIME to process these documents, we don't want to waste any time "dating" from overseas...Would they deny us on the basis that we didn't date for very long?

Also, while I was in Brazil, through some dumb fluke I only got a 30 day tourist visa, which I overstayed for about 2 months.

And, we only have but ONE photo of us together (since my camera was stolen 2 days after we met :( and he didn't have one at the time.)

Are these issues a big deal, do you think?

Thanks again for taking the time to respond to my posts, it's great to get some feedback.

I can't wait to be the person GIVING HOPEFUL ADVICE AFTER THIS ALL WORKS OUT!

    Peace

  11. Hi, I'm American and my fiancé is Brazilian. We're just now beginning the K1 visa process. I've talked to a couple people. Some people have told me that it is ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE to get a K1 visa for him to come join me here. A Brazilian married to an American told me it's better to marry in Brazil and get a spouse visa. Unfortunately, that seems a little financially prohibitive at this point (plane tickets for BOTH of us, maintaining rent here, not working while I was there, etc.) whereas if he were to come here that would be manageable. I'm afraid to go through this process and then have our request denied (after having wasted so much time and $ and hope). We're willing to do whatever it takes, but can somebody tell me what the CHANCES are of having our request denied, and what we can do to make sure it comes through? I'm worried! I just want to be with my love as soon as possible (and we realize it will probably be a year or so.) Any input would be extremely appreciated, especially from US-Brazil couples who have both succeeded and failed at their requests.
