  1. Hello,

I'm getting ready to apply for my AOS soon, and the I-639 has been a pain. I got here on a K1visa (4 months ago) so I know I wont have to get another physical. Back in Brazil, my doctor gave me a copy of my vaccination sheet. So know what? Do I find a civil surgeon in my area that will transfer the data to the I-639? What about the new vaccines, do I have to get them with the same doctor, or can I get them before I actually go there?

Ahhh I know someone is probably gonna say, "read the guidelines". I've read them. I just wanna be sure that's what I need to do!

    Thanks!

  2. Hello everyone,

I would love some advices with my situation.

My mother-in-law is gonna be our co-sponsor. I have an enterview on Feb21st, and after sending us a lot of documents for the Affidavit of Support, she refuses to send me the tax return forms. She says she is worried about all the information that is there, like her SSN, and something about indentity theft (?). I would get another co-sponsor, but at this point, It will take a lot of time I dont have, so I just need to convince her that these documents are VERY IMPORTANT and absolutely needed (she says on the form it says that she wont need that since shes self-employed). Im doing some research here, but since my english not that good, anyone has any advices on how I could explain it to her why I need those documents? (If I just say "I need it, thats it" she wont believe me since the forms says I don't.)

Ohwell, hope I made myself clear. I need to email her asap! Please heeelp

  3. Is is faster to get and EAD if I apply before getting married? I dont wanna wait a long time to work, so I was wondering if I might get my work permit faster that way. (and yes, I know going through JFK is an option).

    thanks!

It is not a matter of speed but applying for EAD (I-765) before getting married results in an EAD card that will expire at the same time as your I-94.... Not much advantage there....

I know someone that applied for the I-765, before getting married (she already had a SSN - necessary - I already have it too), got the card after 3 weeks and it was valid for one year. It costs $340, but it might be worth it for the ones with a hurry to start working.

  4. Oh sorry, I hadn't seen that.

Don't forget that once you get to US, your husband to be will have to support you for a while 'cus you won't be able to work right away.

yep im aware of that. thank you!

Im still thinking if I should try to go to US through NYC and try get an EAD right away (even though its only valid for the first 3 months, would be SO helpful)

  5. thanks a lot guys!!

Awsome tipos for the "extra" costs.

I did put just the basic fees... but on my personal sheet Im putting all the costs with the travels, copies, and (almost) everything!

hopefully my fiance wont give up on marrying me cause its too expensive and marry an american instead. haha ;)

  6. I'm trying to put together a Total Cost Sheet with all the expenses to get married with the k1 visa.. so i would like the help from you guys!

Here's and original idea to start..please remind me of what i I'm missing! (i know its a lot)

It might help someone too that wants to have control over the expenses. On my personal data sheet I'm also adding the money I spend on things like printing all the pictures I'm using it, how much money I've spend sending the documents, going to my Consulate for my enterview etc)

    So the basic is:

    I - 129F $340

    Medical exams (in Brazil) $100

    Visa fee (in Brazil) $100

Getting married (in Florida) $93.50 (including certified copy of license)

    I - 486 $1010 (for what I understand includes the cost of the I-131 and I-765)

    *what happens after that?

    Total, so far $ 1643

sooooo what I am missing? please correct me if im wrong with those values!

  7. I labeled each section and subsection of our packet as to what exactly they contained, but I did not go into great detail other than dates and what was included in that section. Almost a Table of Contents would be what I would call it.

that's what i want to do... just a brief explanation of what I'm sending it. siiiilly question but..how did you separate the sections of your files? did you put them in a folder or something like that?

(kinda like things organized. the mess its driving me crazy...as well of the passport-style pics on a ZIP LOC bag. gosh  )
