No word on mine. No updates since Aug 18. This is having a very bad effect on my fiance and me and I worry the stress of it may ruin things for us. F'ing government bs. Now I know why people come here illegally. If you can do it and get away with it, more power to them. If we a decent process for it, maybe people wouldn't feel the need to cheat the system. I wish immigration was privatized.
Not to get political, but for people out there who think having more government involvment in things like healthcare are crazy. If this process was handled by a private company, it would be done already. The Indian government outsourced their visa process for people wanting to travel from the US to India., Guess what...it took me less than a 10 days to get my visa. I applied online, mailed them my US passport with all the requested documentation and I had my passport and visa back in my hands the next week. Think about that. One company in Texas handling visas from the US to the 2nd most populated country in the world and done in 10 days.
This is why I'll never vote for anyone offering more government involvement in anything....if you want it fine...but just remember this is the same institution that gave us the IRS, US Postal Service, our airport security procedures...and keeps us from our loved ones for a ridiculous amount of time. Well done big government.
Ok..that's my rant

No updates for me since 8/18/08. I don't even check that often anymore.
-
I don't even have a hard copy of my NOA1 but my lawyer does, I have the case number so I'll wait wait wait.
Stress? that's bad for you, you can only take this a day at a time. I came back in the end of July from seeing my fiancee and August was the most stressful month for me. Now its September, so many things to get me distracted, TV Shows are back, football (American), more projects and travel at work and my next travel to the Philippines for January.
So hang in there, stay strong and try not to stress too much.
Take Care and Goodluck!
I'm with you on this....I couldn't have picked a better time of the year to wait this process out. Can't wait for a new season of The Office and CSI (Vegas) to get rolling. And football season (college and NFL) followed soon by college hoops. Time will go by more easily I guess.

Hey Gemmie, looking at your timeline we are very close and similar, the only thing different is that im at the CSC.
Yeah, I noticed that too! We'll have to keep an eye on each other, regardless of service centre.
This process is SLLLLLOOOOOOWWWWWW.Chin up Mark, we're not even a month in yet.
If someone told me I would only be alive long enough for the K1 visa process to complete I wouldn't worry because at least the months I'd have left would feel like an eternity.

You're not going to believe this.
Last night while complaining that we hadn't gotten our NOA1 yet to my fiancee, he said "are you sure this receipt isn't it?" He had told me before that he recieved a receipt for the cash being checked, is all. I asked "what EXACTLY does it say?" to which he responded "Notice of Action.."
ARE YOU KIDDING?
That was pretty much my reaction. He said that he had thought the NOA stood for "Notice of acceptance" so didn't pay any attention to the small print at the top.
The date we got this was on the 14th, over 2 weeks ago!! So he had this in his posession for over 2 weeks and didn't think to properly look at this and think 'hmmm I wonder if this IS it'... the check wasn't even cashed until the 19th so I don't know what he was thinking.
Dummy fiancee!
I'd make a mental note to yourself at this point that come your wedding day forward, you control the checkbook.

Hi all,
I also filed in August, I am very new to VJ. Therefore still struggling with navigation the website. However, i am great to find my fellow August filers. Good luck to you all and i wish everyone a speedy journey.

Welcome aboard and happy journey.

Uh oh, triple post!
We've just registered on the website because we finally got the number from the check.
It says we were touched on the 18th.
Hopefully that's the date they sent our NOA1 as we didn't have email notification turned on until now.
Gemmie-
It looks like we are on the same schedule. My last "touch" was also on the 18th. I'm not sure when to expect the next touch, but I do take a check on the site every day.

Ok, so for those of us with our NOA1, what's the next step we await for? Is it just to get the NOA2 while avoiding any requests for additional info or corrections to be made?
-
I'm surprising doing okay right now.
I think it's because I know I'll be flying out to the US in just over 2 weeks to visit Billy for a short trip (assuming no problems at POE!)... and also because (as you can understand), we've waited so long for our chance to file and then to actually get the package sent out, that just knowing our file is in Vermont is reassuring, and a relief. We're expecting our hardcopy NOA1 sometime in the next 2 weeks. Going to be keeping myself busy with work and research for my new psychology project until then.
I'm saving my worries for the NOA2 wait.
I've been wondering if my fiance can come visit me in the U.S. from India, but I've been hesitant to inquire about it because I don't want to screw anything up with the K1 being processed. Are you comfortable that it's safe and won't cause any issues for you? Did you get a tourist visa and what kind of questions were you asked in applying? I'm looking for any tips to make it safe and secure for her to come. I'd love for her to come for 6 months and stay with me while the K1 is being processed. That might be a stretch I know.

Thanks for the congrats my friends.
I have to say, I'm glad I followed the advice of the individuals on this ste vs using a lawyer. I'm reading more and more posts about people have issues with their lawyers and I find that disappointing and alarming. I'm sorry for those having trouble after spending money and entrusting a "professional" to be professional and focused when helping with such an important life situation.
Best wishes to all.

Just adding myself to the list of people who submitted in August.
Sent in the packet to the Vermont Center on August 6 (I lost the form from the post office so I could check online when it was delivered), and they cashed my check today.
Welcome aboard.
-
Yay! My check finally got cashed! Trying to read the numbers on the back right now...
The number your looking for is the one below the - - - - - - - - - - - line. I had to call my bank's customer support to read it to me as it wasn't easy to see online.
Good luck. Your NOA1 should be arriving in the mail in next couple of days.

I received my NOA1 in the mail today and according to the site my petition was "touched" today. Not sure what comes next, so I'll just sit and wait and chat with you good people here.

Has any August filer received NOA1 yet? Anybody?
I know this forum is for CSC filers, but I received my NOA1 today as a VSC filer.
-
Nahhh, from what I been reading Vermont processing times has slowed a little but they should be cashing your check soon. Im at the CSC and I am waiting for them to cash my chack as well, not just for processing sake but balancing the check book too! HAHAHAHA!
I concur. No need to panic yet. It took about 10 days for my check to get cashed. I'm still waiting for NOA1 to arrive in the mail. I was checking 3-4 times a day at my online bank account to see if my check had cleared.
-
I feel knocked back already.. our check hasn't even been cashed yet and we've already realised that we have a RFE coming our way for not printing off 4 copies of the employment supplement. 4-5 months of waiting for an RFE..
Sorry to hear this Gemmie. Hope it gets turned around quickly so you can get right back on track.
-
Yay, my fiance called the bank and it seems like the check was cashed
Now we just wait to recieve the NOA1 from them, should be here soon
Just wanted to share it, its a step on the road
Good news. That's progress. The journey continues.....

Hello everyone - newbie to VJ here!
My fiance (US citizen) and I have been in the waiting game for ages now and since he's had all sorts of issues with his birth certificate, passport issues...we decided to go with an attorney! January this year!! Anyway, to make a long story short, fiance had EVENTUALLY sent off required info to our attorney and we had FINALLY heard from them a few weeks ago and they advised that they had sent off our paperwork to the Vermont office and that was end July/beg Aug. Last week we received another call from the att informing us that to date, they have not yet received the filing number. Is this normal?? I've emailed the att following up on this today...I know Im just getting a more than impatient here considering we've been together for almost 5 years and only almost half the time we'd been together physically.
I'm sorry about your situation and realize how frustrating it must feel. Did your atty send in the check for you or did you write a personal check to the Dept of Homeland Security for the application fee? I would check to see if the check has cleared. That should be simple for your atty to tell you if it was from his/her office. If it was your check, follow up with your bank. That will at least give you and idea. I would also request that your atty provide you with the tracking number he/she used for mailing in your application. That way you can look for a proof of delivery and again get some peace of mind.
As Gemmie stated, things are moving a little slower with Vermont so if you can get proof of delivery of your petition to the Vermont Service Center, then just give another week or two before you worry too much.
Good luck-

Russ-
I just want to give you credit on this one as I read your post in other thread that gave me the tip to check for the stamp on the back of the check. Otherwise I would have just been waiting for the NOA1 in the mail. I would guess I'll receive that sometime early next week.

I'm glad I could help Mark....been here quite a while gathering 'nuggets' as I wait.
btw.. this is Kim
Sorry Kim. Thanks for all your help.

GZ !
Must be so nice.
I sended before you and still nothing here.
Oh well hopefully I will be the next
Not sure if it makes a difference, but I did submit mine by DHL next day air so it was delivered on 8/6. Depending on how you mailed your package, our K1's could have arrived at the same time. Hope that gives you less reason to worry. Hope your check clears in the next day or two.

Sorry if this is a stupid question... how do you get your case number from the bank? I assumed it was on the NOA1?
No question is stupid... we all asked once.
Your EAC or WAC number is also stamped on the back of your personal check so if you can get an electronic copy of the back of the check once it's cashed you can often get it from that.
Gemmie-
I couldn't read mine online as it was not very clear, so I called the bank and the customer service rep read to me what was stamped on the back. So, even you don't have access online, try calling the bank and see you can get it that way.
My case number did start with EAC and then 10 digits and it was stamped underneath the line of "- - - - - - - - -" on the check stamp.

I called my bank and was able to get my case number and registered on the USCIS website to track my case.

My check has cleared finally. Posted after 8 days, so that seems to be a bit of an improvement. I can't seem to read the back of the check clearly so I guess I will wait for NOA1 in the mail. I hope the rest of you will be getting similar notices soon. Just feels a sense of relief to know the process is moving forward one small step at a time.
Have a great weekend everyone-

It has now been two months to the day since the last update was posted online for my petition. Awesome. (note the sarcasm).
