If interviewing at the Consulate you do not get a stamp. The CO will take the beneficiaries passport so that a visa can be affixed. Once you enter through point of entry (POE) Customs and Border Protection (CBP) will stamp the visa and that stamp will serve as a green card (GC) for one year while you wait for your physical GC. After entering you will receive your green card by mail.

As other poster said, be sure to pay your immigrant fee.

Thank you.  My question now, is how long will they keep the passport to affix the visa?  Is it done right then? Or does it take a day or more?

  2. My husband and I have submitted all document to the NVC and are awaiting their approval before we can do the interview.  We are scheduled to move to the states on July 7th and don't think we will be able to interview by then.

Will they allow my husband into the states on a tourist visa (considering the pandemic)?  Can we submit a change of address to a US address and complete the interview there?

  3. Hi!  I just checked my status and saw the my case was approved yesterday and to look for receipt in the mail next month.  It also says a request for additional evidence was cancelled.  I'm trying to understand what this means for us exactly.  Is it just a waiting game now? Does the 8.5-10 month waiting time start now?  Just trying to prepare myself what what happens next.  TIA!
